The Original 59er
Unless I've missed something obvious, the only reference to our siging of Kevin Van Veen is on the "Rumour" pages, where normally a bit of gossip / news eventually creeps its way onto the main pages when it becomes a realuity. However, I will say, welcome Kevin, I know we wanted to sign you last season and you chose Kiliie over us, but as has been explained elsewhere, money may have been at the root of that decision. I have been saying for some time that a "fox in the box" or at least a plyer who naturally knows his way to find the net is something our team has struggled to find over the past few seasons, in fact if I think hard on this point, I would say that strangely, Mark Yardley was the last player who had that natural ability to know where the net was. Steven Thompson came close, but I would say that MY shaded him on the opportunities that came his way. So I have to hope that KVV can match his previous exploits at 'Well and find his shooting boots and prove that there are 10 to 20 goal heroes out there and that we will celebrate his input as the season continues. Obviously there is this reference Kevin Van Veen joins on loan from Groningen (stmirren.com) Maybe the international break etc has slowed down the usual scarf pics and personal interviews from taking place. On what he may bring, he will need service, a deft pass or pinpoint crosses into the box and a renewed partnership with Mandron which seemed to work at M'well. A key point that must be remembered. Without decent service Haaland wouldn't score.
