faraway saint Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 Most who use this forum, not that many nowadays, have had access and used the Internet for over 20+ years. That has opened a world unimaginable before the late 90's. Tonight BBC1 Scotland were discussing the effect pornography is having on society, especially on young people. Access is on a different universe from "my day" and lazy parenting results in young people having a view on sex as more and more a function rather than mutual enjoyment. Children having unsupervised access results in a normalisation of gratification or worse. Children as young as 7 have viewed porn so it's understandable that when they get to the teenage years they have a warped view of sex. It's not easy to prevent this but it is possible, but too many parents are providing devices too early in a child's development and ignore the potential dangers that lurk on the Internet. Aye, the nternet is a wonderful invention but also a serious threat to future generations. Quote

I'd suggest, while social media has its pitfalls, there's many more platforms out there that are more harmful than social media. Social media has plenty of positives if used responsibly. Sure there are negatives but most of these can be eradicated by parental controls. Quote
portmahomack saint Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 Yes it is far too easy to access porn films nowadays, I've watched 1000's myself but never managed to see the end of any of them In fact usually only see the first 5 minutes Quote

In fact I seem to remember my maw giving me a leathering after finding ripped oot pages from one under my bed. I know from the house we were living in at the time that I was no more than 7 because we moved just before my 8th birthday. Maybe I was just an early developer. 🤣🤣 Quote

Albanian Buddy Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 If you found a scud book under a bush in the 70s you were never quite sure where the bush finished and the woman started! Quote
TPAFKA Jersey 2 Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 For some reason, scud books were regularly to be found in the gorse bushes on the 10th hole at Elderslie Golf Course. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ Quote
