Overall I agree but how could we have been down by one or two when our goalie didn't have a save to make?

The keeper made one save just before half time, they probably should have scored from it

Manager saying we have the best midfield in the SPL apart from Celtic then can't get the ball off a shit Motherwell team or string 3 or 4 passes together. Luckily they are even worse in the final third than we were!!! Awful today.....Absolutely awful

Every season zzzzz... some think get a new team play a few matches win 3 nil... hilarious 😂 not a clue...

Dont most of our competitors have to blood a new team every season?

It will take weeks for this team to gel and maybe even a couple more games to find a goal.  I dont understand how we managed to kick on and find goals throughout the team after Olusanya left last season and how we can't manage a decent chance using mostly the same players.  Of course, Boyd Munce has gone but the difference is bigger than just one man.  Even Declan John, of our most dependable players last season struggled, as did Fraser & Gogic.

People have been commenting that we are the fittest team in the league on P&B (though I don't know the basis for that) so maybe we try throwing a ball into a training session

Good players who did well for us last season were overhitting the f**k out of almost every pass today.  That is my biggest worry as it was a feature we had to overcome with great difficulty last season.

Pluses?  Despite the lack of composure in front of goal, Mooney's excellent positioning &  movement will see him become a big asset, McMenamin lit a couple of fuses for us too.  Ayunga did well when he came on and won some high balls by quite a distance and George is our most solid keeper for years.

I only hope it is not a season too far at this level for Fraser & Gogic, Alex was better in front of defence whenever he ventured in front of the back line in the second half so maybe that is where his game is these days, Fraser just struggled. for most of the game.

5 bookings told a story as well, loads to work on and a challenge ahead to keep in touch with our competitors while we try to gel and ease some newbies in.

I don't think either team deserved all three points today.  Motherwell were the better team in the First-Half and we were the better team in the Second-Half.

Our defence really struggled against Tawanda Maswanhise and Ibrahim Said and I honestly thought one of our players would end up getting sent off for bringing Maswanhise down.

I was disappointed with Alex Gogić getting that stupid booking!  The referee gave them the free-kick, so just get back into position and don't get involved with kicking the ball away or holding on to it to delay the free-kick being taken.  It's silly bookings like this that are real pet peeves of mine.  I can accept a player attempting to tackle an opponent and maybe mistiming it and getting booked but silly bookings that are totally unnecessary are just unacceptable.

That's six yellow cards for us in our opening two league matches.  These yellow cards are mounting up and could become costly.

Talking of yellow cards, Keanu Baccus got his customary booking today.  I wonder what odds the bookies would have offered for that?!

Anyway, we've got a point, I'd much rather we had three points, especially after our endeavours last week where we probably deserved at least a point.

It's good to read positive comments about Shamal George.  I think he'll be a great asset to us this season.  That save from Motherwell's free-kick was top drawer stuff.  Keep it going, Shamal!

Just one thing. You forgot to say, Baccus got booked because he slipped and fell! A DEFINITE RED CARD FOR ME. 🙃

Whilst the strength of the wind undoubtedly spoiled the game, it seemed to affect Motherwell less than us. Definitely a point gained after a rather poor performance. Improved a bit after the break but yet again nothing up front. We have to rely on anyone but forwards for goals these days. Early days but we need to improve before next weeks cup tie.

A point Gained?  Home game drawn against a similar side in the first weeks of the season screams point dropped to me

I hate to inform you but it's 3 points for a win these days so that would be TWO points dropped. 🤣

You're welcome. 😜

Falling over and rolling into the Motherwell player, a heinous offence normally warranting a straight red but the ref was lenient as he was poor all game

He should have been given one yellow card for wearing jessie boots without appropriate studs and a second for falling onto the Motherwell player. 😜

Ha-ha! That's very true, sir.

I try to be positive about all things St. Mirren.  Compared to people who sit around me at home matches and other football fans I used to work with, I consider myself to be "a glass half full" type of guy.  A lot of football fans come across as "glass half empty" types to me.

Anyway, hopefully more positivity on blackandwhitearmy from now on.
