Frewboy Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 I think back to when we appointed Fergie from East Stirling. Someone saw that he was doing a good job with a small club with little or no money. We all know how that turned out, the best football I have seen us play. I now think of Gary Naysmith at Stenhousemuir and draw parallels with the job he is doing and the job Fergie did back then. Why are we even considering Robinson who has no experience of managing a club in Scotland. Quote

stlucifer Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 I see the club are NOT saying Robinson is out of the equation. Merely suggesting he wasn't available now. I hope the reversal is more permanent than that. Quote
fmckinn Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 St Mirren Football Club can today announce that Craig McLeish will continue to lead the club as interim manager until the end of the season. Craig, alongside Jamie Langfield, Allan McManus and Marc Kelly, has impressed since taking on the interim position earlier this month and led us to a 2-1 victory away to Falkirk prior to the international break. We are pleased to confirm that former St Mirren player Stuart Taylor has joined the club to strengthen the interim group. Stuart will support Craig, Jamie, Allan and Marc as part of our coaching team until the end of the season. 🔗 bit.ly/4lWqS2x Quote

Is it a gamble? Possibly but, IMO, no more of a gamble than scraping around at this time of the season for another manager. Now that's done , focus on the next game. eastlandssaint Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Craig McLeish remains in interim charge until the end of the season; Stuart Taylor joins as interim assistant Quote
lenziebud Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Sensible decision IMO. Think he has done well in his 2 games and seems the players are respecting him. Bit of a holding position till the summer and great opportunity for McLeish Quote
guinness Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Probably the correct decision. This will cause less disruption than any other course We could have taken. Let's see if it is enough. Looking forward to Saturday against Aberdeen. Quote

As far as paper talk is concerned, the process of looking and interviewing is still going on at the moment but it does stop the temptation of rushing the final decision. I just wonder what happens if McLeish wins the next couple of fixtures and takes us to a final. It would make it very difficult to ignore him. Quote
elvis Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 If he wins the Aberdeen game I will be pleasantly surprised. Quote
rabuddies Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 I don't think pleasantly should be in that sentence! Quote

The board have stated quite clearly we are where we are untill the end of the season. There will be no movement untill then. I think that's the best for all concerned, let's everyone focus on the remaining games. If he pulled off a miraculous Cup win and stayed up it would certainly give the board a big decision to make. That was my point. I think he should get it for survival and another cup. A legend in a handful of games. Melchester Rovers stuff Quote
