WirralSaint Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Depends on the quality of squad we see delivered for the next season really. Won't be happy if we see a mini Celtic affair where despite bringing in Champions League cash and selling on players they try to hobble through with cheap replacements of much lesser quality. Clubs like ours can't budget for cup runs, with always the prospect of an early exit, so our League Cup run TV/gates/winners prize must be a huge bonus. We then went as far as televised Scottish Cup semi-final. We had a manager's compensation clause triggered by Aberdeen & muddled through with the youth team coach. Unless things are being poorly run we should be in a very strong position financially with 3 excellent unbudgeted for cash injections, so added to increases to season tickets I'd be expecting a much stronger squad than last season's (constantly the smallest bar Dundee whenever I looked and almost cost us our top flight status when injuries mounted). Mr Optimistic Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 We have 17 players under contract and only 5 or 6 are SPL quality. The rest are Championship players at best. That shows how bad our recruitment has been the last 18 months. Of the players out out of contact I do not think we will retain any of them as not good enough and the ones who are will move on. I will wait to see who the manager is (surely named very soon they've had ages to look at it) before committing my almost 500 quid. If Park is still there when the dust settles that may also influence my decision. Huge rebuild required and not much chance of moving on the deadwood in this squad. Difficult season ahead so requires a manager with contacts and experience. Quote
Frewboy Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 We will all probably renew our season tickets and that is what the club is banking on. Yes we fell heir to some unbudgeted cash last season including what has already been stated plus the Arsenal cash for Mooney. I do not know how our goalkeeper is after his operation but we need another as a No 1 or as back up, defence needs reinforcements, midfield playmaker and a box to box worker are needed. We do not have any goal scorers or any real wingers. Yes whoever gets the job needs to be experienced and able to sort the mess left by Robinson or we will be in a relegation battle all season. Not everyone will agree that Robinson left a mess but he hardly won a game after December, the recruitment in January was shocking so he seemed to run out of ideas or there was and must still be problems behind the scenes that we are unaware of. fmckinn Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 Renewal my 2 on Friday, was always going to renew regardless of how last season ended. Onwards and upwards. COYS Quote
Ethan Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 I renewed my ticket but i agree there has to be a better return in squad etc. Our recruitment was at best shocking bar one or two last season. There are players still under contract who should be moved on if any takers are out there. Even get them out on loan. We need a manager who knows the market we are in and will improve our team for next season. Quote
