McLay Inns enters admin.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-30965223 TBH I was more worried about the fate of The Three judges at the foot of Byres Road. Miss Saint
Langs is opening back up in a couple of weeks, been gutted out and redecorated. I like pubs :-)
flyingscot
Bull Inn/Abbey Hotel/Canal Station owners. McLay Inns enters admin.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-30965223 Not good news. Canal Station I think was only managed by them along with some others and has been moved on to a new management group. The Bull and Three Judges will be run by the administrators although you'd fancy they'd be secured.
FS
I just heard the opposite, Canal to go, but Bull and Abbey in the 'safe' version of MacLay Inns.
flyingscot
I just heard the opposite, Canal to go, but Bull and Abbey in the 'safe' version of MacLay Inns. Is that not pretty much what I said? Reported that LT Pub Management now run the Canal Station, Clockwork and Dram. Not sure who owns them right enough. HSS
Don't think either have ever been pubs. Could Mrs G be thinking of when the dancing was called The Garage? Edited January 31, 2015 by HSS
davidg
Don't think either have ever been pubs. Could Mrs G be thinking of when the dancing was called The Garage? Possibly, that's what I said. There was never a pub to the left of Kasbah, Garage, institute etc, only the right.

FS
It was called "Paddy O'Brien's Dream" when it first opened. It was called The Bodyshop when it first opened.
FTOF
It was called The Bodyshop when it first opened. Correct. The Body shop and The Garage. It then became Make for the Border. What I should have said was, "Its first incarnation as an Irish theme pub was Paddy O'Briens dream.

Geordie Saint
Leaving the car at home this Sat and having a more leisurely day by taking the train. This will undoubtedly involve taking advantage of the freedom to have a few beers. Was wondering if Raffertys/Bar Point is still open these days. I read they've had a few licensing problems since i last went in there. Quite enjoyed it when i've been previously.
