Paisley Pubs

Should have said yesterday............

If you download the Renfrewshire Cab Co App and book your taxi thru that then you jump ahead of people who have booked by phone.

That's incredible. So not only is there an issue with queue jumping at the taxi rank, one of the taxi companies runs its own official version of it.

Presumably call bookers don't get a discount for being treated as less valuable customers.

Couldn't get a taxi at the courtyard last night. Not just the town centre that is a nightmare.

Bangor where I live is almost as big as Paisley and we have exactly the same problems here. A nice town that has seen better days but whose biggest critic by far is its own population. Most can't find a nice thing to say despite the fact the town has so much going for it. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Town taxis on Friday and Saturday night have a designated area at the sea front where they queue up and there are steward/bouncer type guys who police it. It works pretty well. The cab companies who don't want to take part can carry on as normal in other areas and pick up by appointment. There are always complaints about delays but I don't think I've heard the likes of what you guys suffer.

Pubs are so last Century.

Time they were all replaced with Coffee Shops.

Make Paisley and Taxi Ranks better places.

Whereas Coffee Shops are SO 16th Century - when they first started.

And the first in Engerland in 1652, was in Oxford.

This has no entry for coffee shops in Scotland. Perhaps they are a startlingly modern concept, right enough. In Scotland.

Went into Langs yesterday expecting to see a different looking pub, but apart from 4 tv mounted above the gantry ( 2 on either side of the bar) which must be said are in a great place for watching football, nothing else had changed apart from the old saints photos now missing from the walls sad.png 1 toilet was closed but the other was still honking as usual. Apart from a new sink in toilet and the tv the pub was no different as it was before.

Paisley went on a dramatic social decline the minute all pubs and clubs about the station (Carnegies, Libertys, Tell Mama and Mankies shut down. It had a negative effect on the likes of what used to be The fox and the fiddle which i remember shut down to make way for a firework shop then a biker bar for the 2-3 people in paisley who own motorbikes. Sportsters was brilliant at the weekend but the bankhouse is just a shitter version of sportsters.

When they shut down the stabby(ish) side of the town that meant the stabber(ish) people were forced to invade the likes of shuttle street and new street which i believe forced the students and people with funny accents and highlighted hair to evade the area.

they should just open up Carnegies and all them places again and let the town decide where to go. May find a toilet cistern with no vaseline on it one day...

Wig and Pen has been bought over and will be a St Mirren pub.

Websters got burnt down

Wig & Pen will be a St Mirren boozer

Now open as The Two Carts Bar although doesn't look like the redecoration is finished. Edited by Thorizaar
