Paisley Pubs

As the only real live venue in town, the council should be stepping in to help out IMO. Another nail in Paisley's coffin.

We don't know what the problem is tho Herbie.Could be cash related or it could be the boys who run it have fallen out........again.

The biggest problem with The Bungalow was being asked to pay to see bands you didn't know.Always thought they could have trialled a "Try Before You Buy" scheme where you could get in for a limited time and if you decided you liked a band you paid your dosh and if not then you left.

Paisley is doing very well music wise so let's hope this continues.

Going to see a band is like going to see a movie, you need to be prepared to write off a big chunk of the acts as filler.

if a venue is booked and an act forsakes other bookings to come to do a gig, is it really fair for the punters to be given a second chance to decide if they wil pay?

Going by their Facebook posts, it seems to be a money thing....

If th venue is failing then the public simply don't like the product. The council supports the arts centre and any extra funds should go into making a reputation for that venue.

The Arts Centre is a washout. Is the bar even still open? Hopeless for live music as well. Total waste of what could be an excellent facility for theatre productions.

Reduced rates? Help with advertising? Marketing people helping to attract bigger bands to the the venue?

If the public aren't supporting it why should the council reduce rates? What about all the other local businesses who are struggling and closing doors?

Business is business, just because they're providing live music doesn't mean they should get any special treatment.

Disagree David. Live music venues are a different proposition as they bring in loads of visitors to the town in a way that most shops don't.

That said, I firmly believe (from experience) that the business rates should be reduced across the board, but that's a different argument.

Not sure if this is directly related to the thread title but, hey ho....................

River Cart re-route gets stamp of approval

Plans are now in their final stage for the re-routing of Paisley’s iconic River Cart. The amount of concrete used in the construction of the Piazza Shopping Centre has made it unfeasable for the building to have open walk ways underneath or be demolished at a significant cost.

However plans have been drawn up for the river to be re-routed down Smithhills street which will see a huge investment of riverside cafes and the townsfolk utilising the river that runs through The town. There is now to be a river visitors centre in the old carnegies bar and major redevelopment of the Paisley Harbour has to begin this summer.

Paisley is really pushing in the right direction said councillor McGuire and all in time for the upcoming move for City of Culture Status.

This will be of course a logistical nightmare for some road works at the time but will fit under the existing rail network minimising construction costs and environmental damage.

Paisley for once has taken the right step to bring its river back to the people.

Was in Saparito's for the first time last night after the game, really liked it. Food was decent and reasonably priced, great atmosphere in the place as well.

Will definitely be returning.

My favourite place David. Good food, pleasant & attentive staff & some decent live music. Its not the cheapest (although the daytime specials are great value) but you get what you pay for.

Give this place a try tonight.................................

Better be decent, ya pair of trumpets!
