Charlie the Charolais
well in that picture there isn't a shop to its right but the railings of the church which latterly became Myles Camping Centre and is still standing.Pretty sure the shop which was at the centre of the Donoghue vs Stevenson case is the one on the corner of Wellmeadow and Lady Lane in that picture. That is where the commemorative plaque stands today beside the bench seat. Not your Right , ITS right

billyg
Here's an interesting one of The Bowler's Tavern although the picture isn't dated. The 4 story tenement with The Bowler's at street level was only demolished about a month ago but here there is a pub called "The Bowler's" on the bottom of a 2 storey building with Lady Lane slightly to its left My gran owned the original Argyll Bar when my mother was very young, it was in the vicinity the Bowlers , is the Argyll in this pic as I've never seen it? FTOF
If you walk down Forbes Place from Provan Sports, Backchat was just after the lane/car park and Cannes was on the corner at the Cart. Hope this helps Indeed. Backchat (or Backstab as it was affectionately known) was about 20 yards from Cannes towards Causeyside Street. You had to go up a relatively steep flight of stairs to get in to the club itself. Cannes was indeed right on the corner of Forbes place. Edited July 31, 2008 by FTOF

Two big banners hanging outside it tonight, one says "NEW BAR OPENING" and the other says "STAFF REQUIRED, APPLY WITHIN". Certainly looks like a pub, or mibbe a pull hall...
