  1. Phil, what Cockles was saying (as you can see from the above) was that Dorothy's link (as in the actual text he typed) did not match up to the story in the target of the link (and Cockles was right) - it (the link) provided false information. Dorothy obviously altered the link as he typed stuff into it. Maybe Cockles should have said "providing false information again" rather than "falsifying information again" to make it more clear however, it wasn't incorrect.

    oh dear

me thinks someone doth protest too much

  2. So, what you are saying is that it wasn't genocide. Nice to have you admit you were wrong for once.

    Who's done that?

Once more - Oh, the irony.

He said you altered the link, not falsified the story in the Scotsman. More proof, if ever it was needed, that you don't understand English.

You never posted the same link, you posted a different link to the same target. So, basically, he's right, you're wrong - was it ever in doubt that you were wrong, after all, you did make a post.

if its not the same link then he obviously didn't falsify it then

did u intend to prove that cockles was wrong?

  3. YOU falsified it in your altered link. As I have shown.

I'm not going to waste my time debating with a proven liar.

    he didn't falsify anything!

he used the functionality that the forum offers to give your own name to a link that you r posting

the actual link and story is unaltered

  4. He altered the wording in the actual link that I've posted because it used terminology that didn't suit his agenda.

    er, well obviously!

that's what the functionality is there for...

it allows folk to put their own spin on a link that they r posting in order to suit their own agenda!

    doh!

  5. I used to go to every away game but stopped a couple of years ago.

In the past I would already have booked up the hotel before the cancellation of the game so I too would have been absolutely raging.

As others have pointed out, Aberdeen put the boot into us last summer so there is no way we should be doing them any favours.

In addition, Aberdeen were main players in stopping the removal of the 2 club league veto which will ensure a sectarian based carve up returns when the new The Rangers club gets back to the top flight.

Stewart Milne is a disgrace to Scottish football and St. Mirren should be doing everything in their power to make things as difficult as possible for Aberdeen.

In saying that, as others have also said, we would be missing Thompson & McAusland so maybe the club did it for own interests.

Just a pity they didn't consider their loyal travelling support.

  6. I think Marwood will be mainly used out right. I think we will try go 4-5-1 / 4-2-3-1:

    McGinn-Goodwin

    Marwood-McLean-Wylde

    Thommo/Ball

Kenny and John can switch between the advanced and deep role at their leisure and Marwood and Wylde give us genuine pace down the flanks. Can't see us ever starting with Thommo and Ball, but if we are behind going into the last half hour I expect it will happen. It's good to have a plan B!

This is an very sexy line up

  7. a whole lot of people criticising people on a public discussion forum for being critical on a public discussion forum!!!

I'd like to take the opportunity to criticise you on this public forum for criticising the people on this public discussion forum who are critical of the people on this public discussion forum who are critical.

  8. No reason why Thommo and Ball can't play together. Worked for Lavety and Yardley. Best of luck Callum.

It worked well with Yardley & Lavety because we were in the First Division and camped in the opposition box a lot of the time. Not so sure if it would work as well in the top flight.

Where it might well happen is in the latter stages of games where we are chasing a goal.

  9. +1 for the 'it'll be interesting' vote.

This may have been more down to the poor standard of opposition than anything else, but there were long spells against Blyth and WB when, in possession, we almost had a back three. In both cases it was because the right back was pushing on so far, the other three would readjust and spread across.

I personally suspect there will be a lot of pressure on the full backs to provide width again this year.

We have an out and out winger with real speed this season however in Wylde.

This is the best line up of attacking players we've had in many a year.

  10. I have to say I like the idea of a 4-3-3 with Goody, McLean and McGinn in midfield and Marwood, Thommo, and Wylde up top. Marwood could play on the right but slightly narrower, allowing him to support Thommo whilst also leaving room for Naismith to break forward. I agree with Phil, it'll be interesting to see what Tommy does.

That midfield and forward line excites me.

Its not quite Stark, Richardson, Bone / McDougall, Somner & Weir...

But its one of the best on paper that we've had in a long while.

I have a feeling though that Callum Ball is going to make a big name for himself this season!

  11. I reckon it'll be three up top. Thommo or Ball through the middle, two from Wylde, Marwood, Reilly, Caldwell in the channels. First choice midfield three of Goody, Kenny and McGinn.

The only other player we've had who could play that wide forward role recently (aside from GW last season) was Isma.

It'll be interesting to see what TC does.

I would have thought that Marwood & Caldwell would be better suited through the middle with Ball or Thompson. I also wouldn't discount Thompson & Ball up front together.

The midfield is then interesting as you would assume that either McGinn or McLean would operate in the centre with a defensive midfielder. That may mean McGinn wide left with Wylde on the right or it could be McGinn in the centre with McLean wide right.

McLean wide right would an interesting option for me, sort of in the Andy Dorman role. He likes to get forward and playing wide would make it difficult for the opposition to put a marker on him. It would also allow him to come inside and also allow him the freedom to shoot as he's got a fantastic strike.

  12. Motherwell will have an advantage over us as they already have played some competitive games, but we need not fear them.

Agreed, we need not fear them.

However, Motherwell are a good side, are a step ahead in fitness and are playing at home.

St. Mirren also traditionally don't do well on opening day (unless the game is at Ibrox!)

Our season goes way beyond one game. I believe we are in for a very good season regardless of the result at Motherwell!

  13. At least with lower league players here, they do not constantly have their eyes on moving back home.

I'm pretty sure that players from lower leagues in Scotland would jump at the chance of a move to England if the offer came up!

In these days of Bosman, you will never be able to hang on to any player who is successful. The fact that he's from England doesn't really make any difference.

Michael Higdon is an example of a big English striker who was released by a then Championship side, Crewe, who came up to Scotland and ended up playing with 3 Scottish sides, scoring a load of goals and even winning Player of the Year.

He eventually ended up in Holland!

  14. This a cracking signing.

We've signed 3 young strikers with loads of potential this summer. Ball could well top the lot.

He may well turn out to be the new Michael Higdon!

Tommy Craig has played a blinder so far this summer. I have a feeling this this is going to be a fantastic season.
