Nope.  I've never owned a premium bond.  Next question please.

P.S. You're fair racking up the info about me (not in mensa, never taken an IQ test, never owned a premium bond).  I'm starting to get worried that you have an obsession with me, why else would you want to gather this type of information.  Maybe you are going to an h2g2 quiz night and you mistakenly believe that I really am Slartibartfast.

mmmm, I see that the mensa reference went over the top of your head.

    No surprise there then! :1eye

Why is my view that we shouldn't appoint a manager with no experience at all talking nonsense? How many in our top league hired a manger with no experience? The old firm have done it with Brady, Lennon and Gerard but they had/have the finances to cover deficiencies.  We could not risk taking a gamble on an inexperienced man when we need to bring in the right players and stabilise/establish the club in the top league.  I would end by asking you to give me examples of where clubs in the premiere league hired rookie managers? It does rarely happen and most clubs simply would not risk it.

    I gave you examples earlier!

For a start, Alan Stubbs was a rookie manager with Hibs. They were one of Scotland's big 5, trying to get out a division that contained Hearts & Sevco!

Rangers appointed Souness, Walter Smith, Ally McCoist. Celtic appointed Lennon & Brady.

St. Mirren gave the job to Clunie, McFarlane, Alex Miller (with 2 months experience) & Fitzpatrick.

Outside of the Old Firm there have been...

Paul Lambert (Livingston), Tony Mowbray (Hibs), Billy Davies (Motherwell), Eric Black (Motherwell), John Collins (Hibs), Neil McCann (Dundee), Simon Stainrod (Dundee), Martin Canning (Hamilton), Lee McCulloch (Kilmarnock), Bobby Williamson (Kilmarnock), Gary Locke (Hearts), Gerry Britton & Derek Whyte (Partick Thistle), Craig Brewster (Inverness), Stuart Kettlewell & Steven Ferguson (Ross County), Billy Kirkwood (Dundee United), Gordon Chisholm (Dundee United), Peter Houston (Dundee United), Eddie May (Falkirk), Steven Pressley (Falkirk), Willie Miller (Aberdeen), Roy Aitken (Aberdeen), Ian Cathro (Hearts).

I make that 32. Is that enough?

Hibs I believe we're in the Championship then. Sometimes good players make the step up first time and some don't.

Hibs, I believe, are a far bigger club than St. Mirren and wanted to get out of a division that included Hearts & Sevco. I'm pretty sure that they took their managerial appointment at least as seriously as we did this season!

The fact is that you were talking nonsense when you said that St. Mirren shouldn't appoint a manager with no experience and that we hadn't done so before other than Fitzpatrick and that it rarely happens at big clubs!

  4. Bottom line is money talks just like Jack buggered off with a lure of big bucks. Alan was probably offered a much bigger salary and he has a family to support. Any manager would more than likely move for a higher wage.  Rotherham turned out to be the wrong choice much like Lennon going to Bolton. Many clubs down south demand instant success and are riddled with problems. No idea what these were at Rotherham but the past is the past and Alan deserves his chance to lead as onwards. Time will tell whether he is right for us but let’s back him as he’s our manager now.

Can’t believe that Hibs appointed Stubbs in the first place. I mean, it was his first job. He didn’t serve an apprenticeship!

  5. One thing I do ask of him is, please do not bring in Jules Verne league players, Craig tried it and it doesn't work !

To be fair, Craig signed one Jules Verne league player and yes, it didn’t work.

However, Leicester City also signed a striker from a Jules Verne league and that certainly did work!

I don’t mind what league we sign players from, as long as they are good!
  6. Christ, this thread is just a daft carry on, but if you drop into the manager thread, it actually appears as though some have already made up their minds that Stubbs will be failure. Incredible stuff.

Don’t see what’s incredible about folk having an opinion on Stubbs.

    Personally, I’m undecided.

My opinion on Craig, Rae and Murray at outset was that they would fail.

    Football is all about opinions!
  7. I think you'll find he left Hibs cause the bullet was ready to be fired. No other reason IMO, he knew he was on borrowed time.
Cups didnt matter at Easter Road. Being in Premiership was Stubbs brief.

I think he could have dined out on the cup win for at least another season at Easter Road.

I work in Edinburgh and Hibs and the Scottish Cup was an annual obsession for both sets of fans through there.
  8. Hardly. The way my knees are if anyone was involved in a fight with me they'd have to be damned unlucky to get hit. The simple story is that Cockles bottled it.
I've met plenty of St Mirren fans over the years and I'm sure all of them would say that I'm not at all threatening but Cockles soiled his pants that day.

He’s threatened me with both hospital and a lawsuit [emoji23]

    I’m still waiting.... [emoji848]

  9. Ask yer mate what his legal representative said when he went to them after he actual said he was going to then because big boys were calling him names.

Or are you saying he was talking his usual bullsh!t and lied again?

Remember one of the above is a question, the other is a request. If you need help differentiating all you have to do is ask nicely and I'm sure someone will explain as you clearly are struggling to differentiate.
