  1. Open 7 days my good man, however season ticket has been renewed and I plan to attend every home game. It's only Bridge of Weir so I can leave at 2.30 and be back to help to close up. My 20 odd years of away day jollies will be a tad fewer though unfortunately.

  2. Will let my wife know as one of her best friends live in Bridge Of Weir and a bunch of them often meet up so will tell her to get along Bernie's Cafe /Deli in Bridge of Weir.

Have been in the catering trade for over 30years so if ever you want to chat about anything just pm me.

All the best to you and your wife Herbie

Thanks Bud. Appreciate the good wishes. It's a massive learning curve so I may well take you up on your offer! Actually looking at refreshing the menus at the moment which is a damn sight more difficult than I thought it would be....

  3. Mrs. Herbie is asking if the Yum was about her or the cake ;-)

Cheers for popping by Poz and glad you enjoyed it. Sorry I missed you but I'm slightly less sorry than Sunday when I missed Sir Thommo when he popped in.....

I'll be gradually sneaking some Saints stuff onto the walls when the wife's not looking...

  4. Just found this thread. If I was still in Houston I would have been in by now! I'll definitely pop in the next time I'm over in Johnstone visiting my mum.

Good luck with everything Herbie. Look forward to sampling these cakes soon!

Cheers Poz. Welcome anytime Bud.... thumbup2.gif

  5. Herbie, when are you starting your sponsorship of Paisley Velo Cycling Club? You know how all cyclists love a cafe stop!!!

Hopefully half price Carrot cake for St.Mirren/PVCC members! ;-D

Not a bad shout to have a cyclist's special to be fair. We get loads in. Sponsorship may be a bit of a stretch at this stage though, it might be worth considering if not stupidly expensive!

  6. A Bernie's lunch for myself and Mrs E today - lovely grub and ...... Cake!

All those street names but no Love St?

Cheers for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a million for coming in. The street names are all from the previous owner unfortunately but will be changed eventually. A Love St one is definitely on the agenda.

  7. What kind of cakes do you do?

The wife says she might pop over tomorrow.

She said she was disappointed with your competition's* offerings in the baking department.

    *Lochnagar.

All sorts of cakes get made directly on the premises at least twice a week. The head cook is a brilliant baker. She regularly does Victoria Sponges, Chocolate cakes, tray bakes, scones, shortbreads, carrot cakes. Too many to mention. No day is ever the same but we always aim to have at least half a dozen choices.

  8. Cheers guys and gals. Not planning on changing the name in the short term as it is a really well established business but "herbie's" is definitely in the offing!

All the cakes are made on the premises from scratch HSS, so no issue there!

Also get loads of cyclists in already but definitely worth promoting that further. Watch this space.

  9. Great story bud. Old story but relevant about Guni.

Most certainly a fan's favourite - mine included - but when you compare his scoring record with Dougie Somner or Steven Thompson his record is poorer in comparison.

Somner scored 25 league goals in one season. According to stats Guni managed 26 goals for Saints.

Maybe you were too young to enjoy the delights of Zico, Somner and Weir as a front 3.

Hopefully your kids got to the cup final to see our current number 9 Thommo doing what he does best - scoring!

I remember those three very well mate and would certainly put them in the "wish my kids could have seen them" category as well.

  10. Gunni v Celtic.

What a header from him, plus Stickroth skinning their left back, who I think was Wdowczyk, but not sure.

My favourite Saints goal of all time.

I travelled to Porkheid that day in a car with 3 Smelltic fans. They parked the car at exactly the opposite corner from the Saints end so I had to run a gauntlet of stones and phlegm as I walked back to meet them after the game. I grinned like a madman all the way there. A truly brilliant day.

It actually makes me sad that my Saints supporting kids never got to see some of the players I did, Guni being a perfect example.
