  1. Really sad to hear this. When I worked for Lucozade, Davy was one of my customers, working at Battery Park in Greenock. He was pissing himself when he found out I was a Buddie but had no idea who he was! A wee bit before my time to be fair... An absolute gentleman, a great laugh, a lovely customer and a very knowledgeable fitba guy. RIP big fella.

  2. Ok. Here we go. I'm going to say it. The Meth Heads were actually very good tonight {takes deep breath and shakes head}. There are 3 or 4 players in their team I'd love to see at our club. They thoroughly deserved that victory. Bastards.
Enough about that though and let's discuss what a disgusting performance that was from us.
With the exception of Morgan and Magennis, every single one of that team out there can GTF as soon as possible. Clarkson and Irvine (and possibly Sutton) get points for trying hard but their performances were brutal. Langfield is a disaster, Mallan is one of the most overrated players I have ever had the misfortune to watch, Hutton is never a footballer in a million years, Shankland clearly doesn't want to be here (do any of them?), Naismith and Baird just haven't got it, but the things that worry me most? No heart. No fight. No dig. No passion. That's what hurts most and perversely is probably the easiest thing to fix. I can handle losing. Let's face it, 17 years undefeated is something those f**kers will never emulate but it was coming, and I can't handle losing in that manner. Shower of f**king pussies. At one point tonight, Quitongo held off his defender by gently placing a hand on his chest ffs. If he'd done that to someone like Aber he'd have got a broken ankle in return. Where is the fight? Where is the anger and aggression?
Sort that out Jack and we might stay in this league. Just.

  3. No doubt I'll buck the trend here but I really enjoyed the 5.15pm kick off. As a result it meant my son and I missed any of the usual traffic at Ibrox and it was a very pleasant drive through. We were also able to enjoy watching the midday match on Sky before even contemplating leaving the house. And whilst those with season tickets might well be a bit unhappy with the kick off times being moved around, but these contracts were all in place long before season tickets went on sale. Surely to f**k everyone buying a season ticket knew by now that matches get moved for TV coverage, and that the First Division is covered by Alba. It's not a novelty after all.

Secondly the fact that Alba pay very little to cover the games is only part of the story. St Mirren, and all those other Championship Clubs were very happy to charge track side advertisers premium rates for spaces where their advertising board might just feature on telly. These clubs were also delighted to get sponsorship money from Ladbrokes and from Barrs, neither of which may have been keen on the product at all if it wasn't for TV Coverage. I also remember at the start of the season seeing complaints that the Championship was no longer being covered in depth by Sportscene because "Rangers" were no longer in the Championship.

Yeah. That's right Stuart. I bought my season ticket in June, knowing that this game's timing would be changed 2 months after that.
    Seriously. f**k off.
  4. Agree, the way the paying fan is treated is shocking. Chases fans away and ruins the aesthetic for tv with empty seats all over the ground. Trouble with anti social kick offs mean that many could not attend if they gave you free entry. f**kin joke as a spectacle and joke in terms of product promotion. Still a few quid from tv means the paying customer is shafted. In terms of ticket sales, season tickets especially, it's totally unfair.

Yup. That's me. I have a season ticket and could have made a 3pm kick off. Due to work, I could neither attend the game or watch it on TV.
Cheers BBC/SFA. This type of tv deal is destroying our game.....
  5. Never been called for jury duty, but I did once attend an industrial tribunal as part of a course. A wee wifie from Johnstone claiming unfair dismissal. She'd been sacked from a chippy for smashing a bottle of vinegar over her boss's head. She lost..... ..

  6. I didn't have much of a choice really. Mum and Dad were rabid Saints fans (Mum still is, Dad chucked it after Dumbarton pumped us 3-0 in a cup replay) and I was taken along as a young pup and loved every minute of it.
As I got older I stuck with it through some amazing teams and times, from the Anglo Scottish Cup win, to 1987 as a teenager and also through some real shit as well. I always remember though that it felt brilliant to be different. To not support either of those horrible cretins from along the M8. I had a sense of belonging and still do. I've made some great friends through supporting Saints, had some amazing away days and I wouldn't change it for the world.
What does it mean to be a Saints fan though? All of the above, but topped off by the fact that my kids are now huge Saints fans as well. Seeing the look on my youngest's face in 2013 will stick with me forever. As they say in Eastenders, it's all about the family....

  7. Absolute legend of a player and a person. A nicer guy you could not meet. I remember in my first day on the road in my first sales job going to meet Jackie and winning my first sale at the old SMFC leisure club. I was grinning like a star struck teenager just to be sitting chatting to Jackie. Let's hope his HoF board goes up before we move stadium again......

  8. Another pre-season of optimism met with, yet another terrible start to the campaign.

You could argue that you can't keep sacking managers but the style and standard of football on show at the moment is truly f**king awful. Anyone could produce this pish, these guys are supposed to be professionals.

Yup. This is the crux of it. 90% of our team are decent players. What makes a good team though are tactics and teamwork. Both of these things are the responsibility of the management. We are sadly lacking in both and there are only two people to blame for that. I'm now seriously regretting renewing my season ticket.

  9. I was recently at the Stone Roses gig at the Etihad. We spent most of the evening, prior to the gig, in the Man Shitty supporters bar. I reckon there must have been 5 or 600 in there, getting bladdered and spending a small fortune. My solution therefore, is to get the Stone Roses to play Greenhill Rd and we're quids in...

  10. The saddest thing about this utter cluster f**k is that for the first time in 3 years, I would have bought the shirt as I have so many fond memories of that great day in 87. This is a shirt to keep, not your usual wear it for a season and then resign it to a bottom drawer for eternity number. I absolutely applaud everyone who was involved in the design of this year's kits. They look superb (Shull is just a fanny. Ignore him), but you have been massively let down.
Please GLS and Fitz, this year, lay it on the table with these f**king idiots and negotiate a deal that suits both the club and the fans. The notion that you cannot by your own club's strip in your own club's shop is utterly, utterly ridiculous. I've worked in marketing. I understand exclusivity rights , but this deal is detrimental to both parties. I wouldn't buy a thing from JD now after three years of the most atrocious customer service I've ever come across. They can ram it. As this year's tops are a keeper, I'll happily wait until they cost a fiver each and then buy them. Until then, I'll wear my superb retro top I bought from the Toffs website with next day delivery. It arrived the next day as promised. Money well spent.
