  1. My favourite was against Caledonian at Telford Street (before they merged with Inverness Thistle and moved ground).

Jimmy Bone was manager back then and Barry McLaughlin was playing as a striker pre season and scoring a few goals.

As Caley were non league there was no restriction on alcohol being brought into the ground and it was a hot summer's day...

    You can just imagine...

Anyway, we were 2-0 down and I think McLaughlin scored twice late on to get us a draw.

The best bit was when a Caley striker was clean through on goal and a Saints fan in the crowd blew a whistle.

The striker stopped in his tracks and the Saints defence got back to clear!

Kenny McDowall, by then a coach, was despatched to go round to find the culprit and confiscate said whistle...

Have very sketchy memories of that game. Couldn't have told you the score but remember jumping over the wall at the back of the terracing to fetch more beers from the supermarket then climbing back in.

Oh aye, and ending up on the pitch after we scored..

    Messy.

  2. "What we do in the shadows" by the kiwi makers of " Flight of the Conchords", a reality TV style mockumentary about Vampires sharing a house in Wellington NZ, it's absolutely brilliant!

Good shout! Watched it three times in as many weeks, very funny film.

Does for vampires what Spinal Tap did for rock bands..!

  3. POZ I get where you are coming from but as I wrote how many albums of Prince are owned by posters. Y especially he had talent however I agree with Faraway Saint the media is making

A big deal out of something just above average in my opinion. Bowie had more influential albums by far I get some will be into Prince but would be surprised if more than 2 albums are owned by posters.

    Just counted.. I have 12

  4. I'm not overly surprised. I'd heard rumours some time ago that he was HIV+. I haven't seen any confirmation of that on any of the official channels but TMZ who broke the story of his death are now reporting that Prince had been admitted to hospital last week after an "opiate overdose" which could of course have been heroin but I think it's more likely it was for one of the strong painkillers he was using. No doubt there will be more to come from this story

I'm not overly surprised by this post.

I'd heard rumours that he was a sad and lonely troll who spent the wee small hours posting on Internet forums, gauging people's general feelings and methodically taking a contrary stand in order to gain attention. Of course, he may have a genuine interest in the deceased but I think it's more likely he just spotted another opportunity to come on here and get people's backs up.

No doubt there will be more 'look at me' posts to come on this story.

  5. Alex Miller turned up to his first St Mirren training session as manager wearing a Rangers training top. He not only went on to enjoy several years as St Mirren manager - some of them qualifying for Europe - he was also the man St Mirren turned to, with the support of many on this very forum - to help out Ian Murray earlier this season when everything was going pear shaped.

I don't know you at all Dalrybud so I can't call you a hypocrite over the issue of past players - but I can well remember St Mirren fans stood on the North Bank at Love Street chanting "McAvennie's still a Saint" whilst he was playing for Celtic. Were you one of them? Or did you wait to read their autobiography before deciding that actually they probably weren't

I only remember that happening once - when he missed a penalty at Love Street while playing for Celtic.

    It's called humour.

    Fud.

  6. I only have two. The bloke who stood in for Mogwai's drummer on their Canadian tour and hung a Saints scarf off his drum kit. And Davej.....

That was James Hamilton (see my earlier post).

Two votes for him, then.. He'll be delighted!
