  1. I'm not part of any bid to take over the club, so it is not my position to be giving assurances. Pretty sure that Gilmour wouldn't be selling to anyone who'd put us in the shit. Maybe I am naive to believe that but there you go. It's now up to Richard and his supporters to prove that they have the ability to run the club, from what I've seen so far I have my doubts.

That's the beauty Scott, it isn't Richard who'll be leading it and he won't be around forever... Maybe for a time, but we'll all, you and me and Sid and SO77 and Tsu and Feegie Saint and, heaven forbid, Bluto :P we'll be here for years and our kids after us and if this works then we/they'll have a genuine stake in the club, we'll have the opportunity to shape it moving forward and we'll have the chance to do something for the town.

If it works it'll go a long way to ensure that the club will be here for our kids and their kids. I'm not trying to scaremonger, I'm just putting eggs into this basket as I think it is the most secure.

Maybe I've appeared like I have an agenda and maybe it seems I have been anti those who are against it. Perhaps my enthusiasm got the better of me. Fair enough if you don't feel the same way, but I think it might be our only chance to make it really ours and I'd love to give it a go!

  2. Ok!

What if potential buyers were a small consortium who each put a fifth of the price in, they don't need to borrow as each have sufficent assets and the see SMFC as an opportunity to inject some fresh ideas and purpose cementing its position as a well run spl club engaing fans and the community.

Hang on some of that sounds quite familar! now where could you find a set up like that?

Naw let's just wave a few "were all doomed" shrouds around insteadbangin.gif

Still speculation...! But a great way forward for the club and one that I'd welcome! Time will tell whether any of the non bids are of that nature!

  3. That is all speculation and alarmist talk, which of course suits the agenda that you claim not to have.

Give us certain assurances on the other side then. Go on, give us all a way that it'll work that has no speculation.

It's only alarmist talk if there is nothing to be alarmed about. But in recent years we have lost Livvie, Gretna, Airdrie, Dundee are in trouble, Hearts, Dung, R*nfers are all in trouble. And that's just the ones off the top of my head. These are alarming times and the outlook isn't good for many clubs. We are in a good position due to the great job that our BoD have done and also due to a good slab of luck. It only takes someone not so careful and some bad luck and we can go the way of those others.

So go on, we're all ears.

  4. As long as they are running the club in a prudent manner then I'd have no problems with that.

What does that mean? Who has £2M of their own money to spend on 52% of St Mirren? No-one. So, where will Mr prudent get the money? Bank, Venture Capital trust? Chums who have leant to him? How will Mr Prudent pay bak these lenders and on what will the borrowing be secured? Taking a wage? The stadium? What happens when Mr Prudent falls into financial difficulty? He has been taking money out of the club of years to pay back debt that was owed to buy the shares, that money now goes into him just generally affording to live and loans get defaulted on. The lenders take possession of the asset on which the loans are secured and all the good work done by SG and co has gone out the window.

I appreciate this isn't the only scenario, but it is one of the most likely.

Now, I agree if the club is run in a prudent way by someone then that'd be great. However there is no-one, short of a millionaire coming in for fun to take it on as a pet project. Which won't happen. The only way the 52% will be sold is by the buyer borrowing. The only type of borrowing that won't be secured on the club's assets or won't involve a wage leaving the club will be the type that the CiC have access to.

There's hope that something unlikely can happen, Scott, then there is blind optimism based on nothing. I feel your dream of someone coming in and running everything nicely, keeping us out of debt and pumping their own money into the club for no return is at best blind optimism and worst pure ignorance.

However, if the CiC model fails, I hope that you are right and I am wrong. It's the club that I care about, not any other agendas or ambitions.

  5. Thats a tad unfair imo! Sid has played it with a straight bat right down the line. He's been two-faced, condescending, rude and wind-up with absolutely everyone seeking neither favour nor position of influence within club (cough, cough,) whistling.gif

    A shrew operator indeed, Somner9!

  6. And there we have it.....first wee hiccup and the girly sorts cry foul. The CIC supporters have been giving it large for months and now the tables have turned we are seeing a massive sulkfest on a par with the anti-CIC brigade when the CIC proposals broke. smile.png

Oh the irony. You couldny make it up. U-turn if you want, the Sidley is all for turning...

  7. your clearly hurting worse than i thought. You need to work on your self esteem.

I suppose the difference between us is that I dont post anything on here that i need to back away from, whereas you near enough shit yerself when attention was drawn to your assertions on potential bidders for the club and performed a truly amazing backflip in the process. the brown stuff you speak of was flying around like a shitty blizzard.

Now your pursuing a vendetta against me? I'll repeat, it was you who made an arse of yerself, all i did was point out that everyone witnessed your shitbaggery.

It's not my fault that your CIC is gone, time to work out your issues I think

That remains to be seen. This time next week (give or take an hour of three) we'll be closer to the truth.

  8. Assumptions and Pressumptions Yet again Scrotum Face ? I am Neither homophobic or racist, You can ask any of my Gay or Ethnic friends That Question ?

If you want to know what I am all About - Then feel free to meet me Face to Face ? I Do not need to Hide behind a Keyboard ? Loads of people Know Who I am ? Owners, Moderators, and plenty Saints Fans ! I have never Hidden from anyone on this Planet- And Never Will ! punk.gif

Truly, I don't come on here to start gripes with other St Mirren fans and so I'm bowing out of this one, you can keep it going if you like. I reported you because I didn't like the way you were directly referring to me. I also don't come on to be abused by other Saints fans. As I said, I'm leaving it well alone and hoping that it doesn't happen again.

  9. You speak well of yourself , Oh little snake in the Grass ! Anyway Do you know ma M8 Buddie ? snore.gifsnore.gif

  10. Fair enough, but REA is on the Saints BoD so he'll know how much the rival bid is. Perhaps now that a significant part of the CIC funding has fallen through it should be time to consider whether £2M is the correct price for what's on offer. It's all very well saying that it's the selling consortium's price but as even SG admitted times are hard IIRC it was September 2009 when the consortium announced their desire to sell their shares - who knows what a realistic price is for St. Mirren currently, maybe it's whatever the CIC have in their back pocket.

Completely agree with this, in many ways they have picked an unfortunately bad time to try and sell...!

  11. And there lies the problem.

Anyone who dares disagree with the CIC is a wanker, trouble maker, anti St Mirren etc.

You are allowed an opinion only if you agree with the CIC.

PS.Feegie Saint was banned for comments like the one reborn uses above.

Not that I can answer on behalf of the mods but Feegie Saint used homophobic and arguably racist comments on a lot of his previous posts. I think that was why he was banned.

And FWIW, there are those that are wanks on here! Some, and you know who, have (for whatever reason) launched a smear campaign against REA and the CiC generally. Those who tried to stick up for the man or the CiC notion, probably because they had taken the time to meet with him and discuss their concerns, we're accused of wanting a place on some sort of board.

With the exception of Somner9 every counter-CiC arguement has been along the lines of " he doesn't even run a company", "he's a dick", "you are an arselicker" or "there are no scarves".

The case levelled against those who are on the side of the CiC is that we just call those against names... However that is what that anti lot do too! The only difference is, we have bothered to look into it, go to them with our concerns and hear what they have to say.

  12. I wonder how much the McGeoch "bid" is - with the CIC remaining the preferred bid you'd have to assume it's some way short of £2M.

Perhaps a cheeky wee offer of the funding the CIC has (£1.3M) plus the first year's subscription's to the CIC around £200k by my reckoning, say £1.5M for a quick sale. whistling.gif

This is pure speculation but I think it might be as much to do with where the money will come from, what it will be secured on and how it will be paid back that is the issue with the KMcG bid...

  13. One issue going forward will be 10000 hours involvement in any new/amended scheme they are promoting. Personally it doesn't sit well with me that they (RA etc) see it as their right to sit on the (Any) BoD and assume the role of chief executive/chairman etc etc... That said if they have funding which is still able to be drawn on then probably we should see what they come out with next.

A real fan-owned/community run club is by definition owned by fans and run by the community, neither of which 10000 hours can lay claim to being. Just my humble opinion

I think you should come along to the meeting next week as you may be pleasantly surprised by the revised proposals... :)

  14. No idea, I'm not entirely sure how much of the recent stuff has been fact and how much has been internet bullshit from ill informed members of this forum. I only meant more in regards to we've had information on how things could work and will receive more shortly.

Bluto's just trying to jump on the anti-CiC bandwagon, cos he thinks it's cool.

  15. and

And your scenario above is the only way anyone can conduct a business transaction??? Hmmm perhaps not...

Perhaps not, but what would probably need to happen then is the buyers would have a degree of debt, to wherever, that woul need to be paid back... How would they do that? My bet is that they'd sell a shitload of the young players that we have and hope He*rts go out of business or the D*ng keep playing as bad.

Guaranteed, however else it is done, it will have debt attached and effectively have a negative impact on the playing side.

  16. All possible but unless you know the detail of an accepted bid it's only one of several scenarios. What if the buyers don't need a loan? Who would loan £2m to someone wanting to buy a SPL club with a 4000 home gate?

Is someone spent £2M of thier own money from their bank account, or even pooled money from various bank accounts, to buy St Mirren they they'd be completely mad and should be nowhere near our club.

£2M borrowed is £2M, £2M of someone's own cash would quickly become £4M or £5M with tax and various fee's on top. You show a distinct lack of business understanding (had been doing well up until now) if you don't take this into consideration.

The only sensible option would be for someone to borrow and pay back. It'd cost them less in the long run.

  17. Dibble is falling into the same trap as stoppit posters like somner9. Speculating were no speculating is required. All of the funding is in place and as Dibble clumsily points out above additional funding has been offered. All funding areas are now oversubscribed from the social ent orgs, the fans, the community members and the commercial members. Progress is being made on the outstanding issue, which is not financial. The details are not being made available to stop well meaning bunny boilers like TL holding rallies outside of peoples doors, which as much as I'd like to see it happen would prove counter productive. If the details of the issue were to be released those slating Richie Rich would feel very silly indeed. bangin.gif

Sometime it's utter pish and other times it's on the money... I'll leave it to the other posters' imaginations as to what this post is :)

    FWIW, GD to you buddie.
