  1. When Caprice came on and Teale moved over to the left I thought we really looked like a team that would go and score goals, there was certainly no shortage of service it was just that the service was not going where the striker was.

I thought Bahoken looked to be a better choice to stay on than Thommo to be honest. Thommo just doesn't get back quick enough and on a couple of occasions gave away offside just a few yards into the Motherwell half.

I also thought that Cornell looked better in a one on one and maybe the defence are playing too deep for him.

    Just a thought

I do agree with your point about Thompson. Since the Cup Final he's been a shadow of the player we've seen in recent times. On to many occasions he looks like he just can't be arsed. Bahoken is still some way off the standards we would want him to be at but what's making it worse is we expected another Goncalves. I believe in time he will come good and he did look a bit better than the Partick game. Thompson receives far less stick than other players for a number of reasons . Caprice did look threatening when he came on but I'm not sure we should put him into right mid when Teale is probably our best player. Would Teale still do as well playing on the left? I'm not sure but it might be something we could try.

  2. Just get cheesy, goodwin, grainger, harkins and bahoken tae f**k for this one....go with caprice, mair, mcgregor and Christ knows at left back...teale, mcgowan, mcginn and mclean in middle with thommo and scullion upfront......its no working so something different....

Cheesy had a brilliant game today! Credit where credits due! Goodwin did slightly better today than usual. Back to basics for this one I think!

    Cornell

    Caprice McGregor McAusland Grainger

    Newton

    Teale McGinn McLean

    McGowan

    Thompson

  3. Another poor performance but IMO a few positives to be drawn. I thought the back 3 of Goodwin, McAusland and McGregor looked solid today (with the exception of the goal). McGregor handled everything that was thrown at him very well and some glimpses of his old self which is encouraging! Against what most are saying, I thought Harkins was one of the better players, easpecially in the first half! Caprice looked fairly lively when introduced and could perhaps play a part in the team. I don't think Cornell did much wrong today. Some guy behind me reckoned the goal was his fault?! No it wasn't! The ball should've been headed clear as soon as it came into the box! Apart from maybe taking to long to distribute balls I wouldn't have any complaints. It pains me to say it but Thompson just isn't anywhere near the standards of last season. He looked like he had lost the hunger and desire and for large periods of the game was a passenger. Grainger, Bahoken, McGowan and Thommo all had poor ones today!

  4. I don't see us having the funds to bring anymore in. I can't really think of any free agents that would improve us (there are plenty but not in our price range). I'd take Zaliukas or Hateley but I can't see it happening.

  5. We were trying to get both of them two weeks ago maybe Robertsons departure is to make room for the lad

Maybe Danny was tipped off that Carlisle were cutting his loan spell short, now he's trying to free up money to bring him in? As you say, could well be the reason behind Robertson going.
  6. It isn't the SFA's decision or fault for once.

Saturday is classed as a working day for the SFA and always has been (as well as about 3 or 4 other FAs in Europe) so UEFA have ordered them to use Saturday as their final deadline day rather than Monday.

I thought UEFA urged theSFA to keep the window open until Monday?

  7. Why are folk having a go about Kenny McLean?

He scores goals, he gets beyond defenders, he creates chances. He's a pretty decent player.

Some folk need to take off the blinkers!

It's not so much having a go, it's more like he's a player Lennon won't drop. He's out injured for weeks and as soon as he's fit McGinn (of all people) is dropped! I, personally, would take McGinn over McLean any day!

  8. The management team obviously disagree with you or he would still be with us. Just out of interest I checked his goal ratio which is very impressive 20 goals In 22 appearances with Dumbarton and 18 goals in 21 appearances with Hamilton

Exactly, he's a goal scorer! Fair enough it's at a lower level but he wasn't really given a fair crack with us which I feel is a shame.
  9. Hamilton are trying to resign Mikael Antoine-Curier, who is available on a free.

Proven SPL goalscorer, I'd take him here if we can't get anyone else in with Thommo.

I'd take him in a flash. Strong powerful player who's good in the air, certainly no worse than Sam Parkin

  10. You may think it's "daft" to include friendlies but a lot of us could see the writing on the wall after the Morton, QOS and Newcastle games with line ups and tactics both called into question. Inverness was the nadir of that run of games.

We're weaker because Reilly is no Goncalves, even if you decide to ignore the latter's obvious skill. We've got no experienced striker to partner Thommo, no naturally left sided midfielder and right back continues to be an issue.

You're "happy to see how it goes" if we don't sign another striker? You must be the only one because that will be a recipe for potential disaster and may ultimately cost Lennon his job and us our top league status.

Finally, I've been travelling all over this country watching my team for over 3 decades and I've seen us play kids when that was all we had. They've always had my support and that of the overwhelming majority around me. This isn't about supporting our kids and it's disingenuous of you to make it into that. The issue here IMO is that the management or BOD have not done enough to strengthen the team ahead of the new season.

Good little interview here with Jon Robertson. Apparently he was deployed at right back a number of times in his career and by all accounts did fairly well against Gretna. Obviously Gretna are no where near SPFL standard but he must be worth a shot in there? Certainly a good bit faster than Vanzy!

  11. True, depends if who we're bringing in is meant as backup or not.

In an ideal world the player Danny is talking about should be backup to Thommo and be like a less shi*e Parkin. I agree though, a fast direct forward would be fantastic but we should be looking at getting one after a target man is brought it due the DL's favoured one up front tactics.
