Plus very few goals from our big hope's up front
Believe Obika is the second top scorer in the bottom 6?
What failure! -
-
Good window?
How many starts has our big signing McAllister had? Djorkaeff anybody? An ageing injury prone Broadfoot?
And the fact our first team squad hadn't all trained together before our first league game!
If that's a good window.. feck me!
Yep it’s been a good window. What’s the problem with late signings?
The only two misses have been Djorkaeff and McAllister, and Kyle is still a youngster so could come good.
The rest of our signings have had various degrees of success, including Broadfoot who was immense before his injury.
Best window we’ve had for a while I’d say. -
So.......................not so successful after all then?.
Aye, we're in a better league position, by a whole point, well done everybody.
I’m judging the window as a whole, not part of the window.
We are 7 points better off than last season, a huge improvement all round. -
A tad later than the summer, as our embarrassing league cup exit proved.
Well August is still the summer... so...? -
-
I am not sure what you mean? Sean hasn't been "recalled" he was only on loan till January. So struggling to see where the "factoring in" happens.
If..? You are alluding to my comment quoted above, that was in respect of us having completely failed to have an organised, coherent summer transfer window, despite a DoF whose main responsibility was to ensure we did!
It's called irony! I.e. completely f**king it up, then saying we are already looking at the next window... feck me they had 3 months in the summer and made an arse of it, are we confident they can crack it in one month?
We had a good window in the summer. As the improved points tally and league position shows.
-
Liked Goody's final quote... "when the summer window closed we were already looking at January"
Feckin says it all about another Summer of Botch!
Surely we should always be preparing for the coming window? Bizarre if we weren’t.
Anyway, looks like we’ve seen the last of Sean.
Shame but not surprised. He’s a bit too good for us I think. Wish him all the best. -
FT 1-0
Second half was all St Mirren really, we missed several good chances and should have won by more in the end. Kept waiting for a Killie onslaught that never arrived, they were awful. That’s them just 4 points above us now, they look very catchable on today’s showing.
Been a pretty decent December for us, certainly much improvement on last term. This time last season we had just lost 2-1 to Killie and were in 11th on 12 points, saved from bottom by the remarkable shiteness of Dundee. This year we are 10th with 19 points.
Goody is doing a great job and if we have a half decent January window we will be fine. Would love to keep a hold of McLoughlin in particular, he’s brilliant. -
We are playing a 3-5-2 with Durmus and Morais as wing backs. Working quite well thus far, Foley looks surprisingly accomplished at centre half beside McLoughlin and McGinn.

HT 1-0
Good stuff, been quite a good game. Killie had a glorious chance on 10 mins, their number 11 just had to get his boot on a cross to tap it in but he air balled it.
We then came back into it and scored a lovely goal, great build up play, threaded assist by Andreu (I think) and sumptuous finish by Silky Ilkay Durmus into the corner from the edge of the box. Beautiful.
After that it’s been nip and tuck, we have had the bulk of the ball but Killie have looked dangerous from a few corners.
Other results are going our way so this would be a huge 3 points if it stayed like this. Come on you Saints!
-
Fantastic goal there, superb threaded ball by Andreu I think and smacked in the corner by Silky Ilky first time from 18 yards.
Tremendous stuff, come on! -
1-0! Durmus!
Yas! -
What we would give for wee eddie or a Lavety now.
Neither of whom ever scored as many as Obika has for Saints in the top flight of course.
-
Did anyone else stand up and salute the queens speech yesterday?
I did. What a woman.
What a United Kingdom, and I’m absolutely delighted to be part of it.
I hope this upsets the vocal minority of separatists that we have in Scotland. Their tears are so delightful. -
Getting him off the wage bill would be great business for the club.
One of our top earners but can’t get a game. Being kept out the team by young MacPherson currently, and rightly so.
Steven isn’t good enough for this level, so we must get rid of him in January. -
That's funny, I just had the same conversation in the pub about Obika. My friend saying he rotten and brings nothing, and me saying he holds the ball up well and brings others into the game.
His decision making can be poor at times , but for me he is the best forward at the club.
Spot on.
Not only does he hold the ball and bring others into the game, he’s also our biggest goal threat.
As the goal scoring charts show.
Obika not only must start, but he must play 90 minutes every game. -
FT 1-2
Much better second half and certainly deserved our consolation, although it did seem Celtic went into third gear.
Killie at home on Sunday then, could do with a wee win there. -
HT 0-2
Yeah rubbish game over etc.
First goal was mistakes all over the place from us, gave it away in midfield, and then the defender and the keeper f**ked it.
Celtic look in the mood and will probably run up a score second half, if they fancy it.
Starting with two up top was brave, but probably stupid. -
Too easy!
Shite defending again. Clearly onside aswell. He made the run from his own half. Comedy offside trap.
The seething offside claims from the west stand were embarrassing too [emoji28] -
Oh well.
Celtic look in the mood. Think going to be one of those times we get 5 or 6.
Happened before and will happen again. -
Who was that who gave the ball away in midfield? Shite.
Thought Hladky coulda got the ball before it hit the post too.
Oh well game done.
-
FT 0-0
Decent point that, much better result for us than for St Johnstone.
After losing 3 games in a row we have now went 3 unbeaten. Considering 2 of those were away from home and our away form before that run that’s not bad going.
And a clean sheet with that makeshift defence on the road is good going.
Next Celtic in Paisley on Boxing Day... -
He reminds me of Higdon in a lot of ways. And indeed a lot of the criticism he gets on this forum and in the stands is identical to the stick Higdon got in his time here.
‘ Only scores lucky goals ‘
‘ Can’t hold the ball up ‘
‘ Not a natural finisher ‘
‘ Doesn’t run around much ‘
We haven’t had a striker capable of getting double figures in a Premier League season since Thompson. Indeed our top scorer last season - Jackson - got 6 in the whole campaign. Jon already has 5 and we ain’t even half way yet.
What makes that return even more impressive is the fact his first goal didn’t come till mid October. It took him a while to find his feet and fitness, but since he did he’s scored 5 goals in 10 games, fantastic numbers.
He’s the first name on the team sheet now and the only question is who’s going to partner him. We’ve tried Andreu and Mullen but his best foil seems to be his mate Morais. They’ve developed a real understanding and with Obika’s strength and Junior’s pace and hard work they don’t give defences a minutes peace.
Double figure strikers at this level are like hens teeth for a club like us. They’re very hard to find, and when we do get one they usually don’t stick around long. Higdon was one and I think we may have found another. Let’s enjoy him while we can.

Fingers crossed we can get him off the wage bill.
Getting rid of him would be a great help in bringing in someone who is actually up to it at Premiership level.
