Split personality indeed - you ask for peace but your other persona asks me a question

2nd - kettle pot black - rearrange to make a well known saying and then apply it to yourself in this thread . . .

Right you are Raphael Scheidt/ Du Wei ( delete as appropriate) for such a clever guy I'm surprised you don't know a rhetorical question when you see one .

    Cheery bye

My "bias" towards Baird is simply I think he gets an unfair swipe more than most, and having played CB, I see his actual strengths and what he does contribute..

Personally don't mind if Jones scored 2 goals AGAINST  Hamilton - so long as he doesn't cost us more than we score.. :fire

Oh so you admit your biased then, good lad :thumbsup

YEAH - don't trust your memory OR what I would suggest is don't blame your memory for seeing things from an unfair perspective - we all have biases  BEWARE!!!

So the stuff I wrote which is based on actual coverage must be wrong then - where was Ferdinand and Hodson in these goals which you blame Baird for???

I am not sure I have your confidence but, like you I would love OK to take 3 points against Hamilton...:D

I'd suggest maybe your the one being biased towards Baird because he's came from our academy and not just someone who's here for a year then will be away back down the road to his real club, but again that's just my opinion.

Anyway been smashing talking to you but I'm kinda bored of it all now tbh  :D

    St Mirren 2 Hamilton 0

    Jones x2 :P

    1. I am not saying that you said he was better - I clearly said that I don't believe that he is...

    2. It is easy to use certain figures and give a false picture (Lies, damn lies and statistics)

So Jones played against Dundee and lost his marker for the 1 goal we conceded in that game (he also lost him on 2 other occasions - so it could very well have been 3 goals from the man he was marking); He played against Gers and we lost 2 goals and Morelos his man was left in space to finish for the 2nd ; Against Well he made no challenge on Main who laid the ball off for Cadden - though Edwards lost Cadden too - the 1st was no cover in midfield & a weak attempt to save by Sammy - another 2 goals against us ; (5 goals conceded in 3 games)

Against St. J's both he and Baird played losing 2 goals - we were very lucky when Alfie slipped and left the goals gapping - what a miss that was. P McGinn was at fault for the 1st goal and gave away the 1st penalty - Hodson gave away the 2nd penalty and lost his marker for the 2nd goal.  Baird played well... Alfie not too badly either..

Against Killie when Baird played we lost 2, against Hibs played we lost 1, against Tic Baird played we lost 0  (3 goals in 3 games) -

    3. I have pointed this out before - Baird lost control to Morelos who passes it to an unmarked striker who then passed it back to Morelos - Isn't Ferdinand meant to cover in central defence - oh he was missing there as well … We can point to all players who failed in various ways.

so you mention the Aberdeen game -  At the 1st goal neither Baird nor Ferdinand covered very well - the later missed the header but the striker did make a great run   ; at the 2nd it was midfield that lost a marker ; at the 3rd a bad clearance (not by Baird) was then deflected off Hodson, and fell to Hodson's man who scored : at the 4th Hodson fell and the winger crossed it in to the man Ferdinand was "marking" and his shot was palmed into the goal by Sammy... but Baird played so he must take a share of the blame where others let the side down too - it is a team game... Oh and we all know how Aberdeen knew the game was over as a contest when they were 4 in front..

I've neither the time nor can be bothered going back and watching every game they've both played in but from memory Baird made an arse of it at ibrox and he was solely to blame for the first goal , at Aberdeen in the second pumping we got he lost his man ( cosgrove ) for the first and for the 3rd instead of stepping out like any half decent centre half would do he ran after the ball into a position he didn't need to be in to leave the boy Lowe standing himself in the centre of the goals. That's just 3 goals from memory so far this season.

Anyway like I said in my first post on the matter 'it's all about opinions' you have yours and I have mines.

I've every confidence we're going to get our first win under OK in the Hamilton game after Hearts ,  whether that be with JB or AJ in the team we'll need to wait and see.

Where was Jones when the almost 40 yr old K Miller had time and space for the equalizer yesterday? The same old and slow K Miller has 3 good attempts on goal - none of which was shut down in central defence...

There were a number of times in previous games Alfie lost his marker too and in the Motherwell game he made no challenge on Main who laid the ball off to Cadden for the 2nd goal..

Actually, he has played better recently, than he did in his early games, but there is no way that he is a better player than Baird.

My conclusion is that OK wants to really examine ALL his options. So, with players tied up on 1, 2 and 3 year contracts, it is not only about who he would really like to get rid off, it is about who he might find it easiest to get rid of...Baird is only on contract till the end of the season. Not sure if any of us knows if Baird is  fully fit or carrying a knock

Who said he was better? What i said was jones has started to play better these last few games and that i dont think he deserves to lose his place after the break.

The amount of goals we've been conceding in recent weeks with Jones in defence beside Ferdinand is also a lot less than we were conceding with Baird in the team.

If your going to single Jones out for goals in certain games then have a think back to ibrox  where Baird made an arse of it for the first goal and the ones he cost up at pittodrie as well. We were 4 down at pittodrie in the first game up there when Jones came on at half time and thankfully we didn't concede again.

  6. Thought he played well against Rangers last week and again yesterday.

I take your point about developing players but I don't really think we're in a position to be worrying about that,  we're fighting for our lives and if a players playing well then regardless if he's ours or not then he should play.

    It's all about opinions though

  7. Watched the highlights there and we were well worth the win.

Even in dundee's spell after the break none of their chances were as good as they looked at the time.

Kpekawa shouldn't have started and stopped his run at the penalty but the balls inside our box before the boy even gets a touch on it.

Samson should have went for it as soon as it was beyond the defence but he started to come far too late. Luckily he saved it.

What were the conversations? Ghana join the Saints? Ghana no dae that?

It was videos of players and passport photos and conversations about accommodation from the bits that I seen.

He told me he's offered these boys to the club,  never said we were definitely signing them.

Who has offered them to us and who are the others

The guy who started jack ross in a junior cup final when he was only 16 years old.

He does alot of scouting work for various clubs.

I initially thought he was 'fulla pish' until he took out his phone and showed me WhatsApp conversations he has been having with various people saved in his phone as  "Ghana Alex" and "Ghana David".

He then showed me one of the last people he had spoken to was Tony Fitzpatrick on his call log.

This could all still be lot of pish of course but that's the conversation I had with the guy last night.

Craig coached Marwood as a youth at Newcastle.

Tommy Craig was a first team coach with Newcastle when he left in 2006. James Marwood would have been 14. Find it hard to believe Newcastle first team coaches also train the kids. Even so,  if Tommy Craig signed players on how good they were 14 then no wonder he made an absolute c**t of it.

To compare stubbs working with these 2 boys and TC working with Marwood is just silly.

I mind we signed James Marwood from English non league.

We were down in the north east playing Whitley Bay in a preseason friendly and a group of Gateshead fans had came to watch in their colours. Got talking to them and they told us that they had came to say goodbye to James Marwood. Said he was a fantastic player who had been great for them and they had no doubt he would be great for us. He had just finished the season as their top scorer and was seen as one of the best players in the English non league.

Left that game thinking we had picked up a right gem.

Let’s hope these guys - who have been less successful in English non league than Marwood had been - are more successful with us than he was.

    Wouldn’t be hard!

Difference is James Marwood came on the recommendation  of Newton and dummetts agent,  likelyhood is Tommy Craig hadn't even been to watch him play.

Alan Stubbs has seen both these boys play, and train for that matter and obviously sees enough in them to do a job for us.

Ryan Hardie scored more goals for Livingston against St Mirren this season than Rory Loy did for Falkirk in all his matches combined this season. Even Tom Walsh playing for the second worst side in the division managed to score as many goals for Dumbarton against St Mirren this season as Rory Loy did in 16 league games for Falkirk.

What's even more ridiculous is that those signings were probably the ones funded by SMISA members.

Who gives a f**k what they've done THIS season,  they were signed by us for last season and every one of them played their part in keeping us in the championship.

  13. 2017 for St Mirren has been quite unbelievable.  Normally over the course of a season or even calendar year us fans get a handful of wins to celebrate and if we're really lucky get a moment to be really proud of like a win against 1 of the old firm or the mob from down greenock way.

To start off the year we were pretty much still f**ked. Our only hope was for the gaffer to pull something out the bag that none of us could have expected and thank God he did.

At the end of January,  down at Dumbarton something clicked,  not necessarily with the team but between the 800 odd fans we took there and the team on the park and from there its grown. A point that day with more or less a whole new squad was a decent enough result but the weeks that followed just got better and better.

Ayr away really kick started something and the other results that followed were fantastic,  hibs and United at home was a massive 6 points,  Morton away,  Ayr at home,  Raith at home then hibs away being the pick of the bunch.

To carry that winning mentality through into this season has been a fantastic achievement and to get ourselves into the position we are now in from where we were is pretty remarkable tbh.

Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite year ever of following the Saints.

Cheers to Jack, James all the staff and players for a year never to be forgotten.

Happy new year when it comes lads

  14. Some apparently 'ITK' Celtic fan on twitter claiming they've agreed deals for 2 players in January worth 4m quid. 1 of which will involve a loan back for the rest of the season.

John Mcginn and Lewis Morgan being the names suggested by just about everyone.  ( He gave a clue, both surnames begin with M)

If true, this would be some bit of business for St mirren with McGinns sell on clause.

4m does seem a bit much right enough.
