I havent had a stiffy in a good while and I don't take great delight in mocking Saint Mirren its all the clowns that think we are better than we are its plain to see for everyone except happy clappers that we are shite would you rather I was praising them for being shite instead of telling it like it is.

I don't think there is anyone on here who thinks we are better than the bottom 3.

What virtually everyone is waiting on is the signings in the Jan window and who is offloaded.

Then the real work begins of staying up and being 3rd bottom which given the disgrace that Stubbs made in the summer would be a resounding success.

Unless you conducted a poll of supporters this is just imagination. I attend games with about 10 others and none of us was over the moon about Stubbs but had no choice but to accept the appointment and back him. But that changed before the League Cup games were even completed.

Going by this board and wider social media, Stubbs appointment was seen as a really good one ?.

Very few dissenting voices at the time.

Would love to know what Stubbs said in the interview that convinced us to hire him.

Since hiring Stubbs, that’s now 6 players either sent back to their clubs or told they can go (until we actually terminate the contract, they will still be our players). Would it have cost us anything to send the loanees back early? How much will it cost if we do terminate the contracts of all 3? How much went on sacking Stubbs and Jackson? And presuming we do terminate Heaton, never mind the costs of that, add in 75K! I never want to admit that there’s a manager out there worse than Tommy Craig after relegating both of my home clubs, but f**k me this makes for grim reading!

I'd say well over 90% of our support were delighted at his appointment ?

Not a lot of people did their homework on Stubbs including our board

Perhaps Stubbs will look to recruit these guys again once he is back in management.........

there is a big difference between them being told you are free to find a new club and them actually leaving.

We could be stuck with them for a while yet.

Yep in the National League North or South, seems to know a player at that level !

With players rumoured to be coming and going we need to makr sure they are of genuine quality. Dundee are clearing the decks with 6 players already being told to move on. I presume more will follow. We must bring in players of a better standing than those around us or this will be a wasted effort. The only player I have heard is the lad from Blackburn who played under Oran at Coleraine. Another gamble IMO but at least our manager rates him. Let's hope we can get the players in who can get us survival.

There is not a single player at our club that Blackburn would currently take, so I would trust Oran Kearney's judgement on that one

Forget Stubbs. Has OK really shown us anything to suggest that bringing 4 or 5 in will make a significant difference? He stood on the sidelines yesterday with his entourage of coaches and watched his team drop deeper and deeper as we inexorably sloped toward what we all knew was coming and come it did.

You can't forget Stubbs, thats the whole point. Stubbs was an unmitigated disaster in every sense and we are paying a heavy price for it.

Forgetting Stubbs is convienent for having a pop at Kearney.

I think you also hugely underestimating St Johnstone.

Yesterday for me was an example of how low expectations have fallen among some of our support.

We lost at home to St Johnstone without creating a single decent chance.

Yet there seemed to be a large section of our fanbase who thought we played well.

Amazingly low expectations if losing at home to St Johnstone without even nearly scoring is seen as ‘playing well’.

I think your a bit deluded if you think there is more to come from this current squad.

What exactly would you do better than Kearney  in terms of players, formations etc ?

St Johnstone have been getting some good results recently so maybe your missing something ?

This pretty much sums us up. But that's progress from where we were before OK came.

You can also add to that, that we have players playing out of position, no aerial threat and no left sided players.

I think if we can get players playing in their proper positions, get a bit of shape and pace we can compete in this league, but between 6- 8 players required.

6-8 of the quality required will be a bit of a stretch IMO. Think we are looking at 3-4 at best.

I think we will go with a smaller squad but higher quality, depends on how many we can offload

You better hope one is called Jesus because that's what we need someone to perform a f**king miracle.

Nope we needs 3 or 4 Premiership quality players who can make the difference between 3 points today and none.

Bar Celtic there is not one team in this league that is not beatable.

We are short of the quality needed at the moment and are consistently losing by the odd goal at home

Got to turn the home defeats into wins

Good window in Jan and that can change.

The mob turned against Stubbs cos he wanted to let Mac & Eck go.

We’re now almost into 2019 and neither has yet to play a game.

    Stubbs was proven right!

Lets see where Stubbs manages again to see what the football community think of him.

    If he manages again ?

Stubbs for me was the worst appointment SMFC have ever made in over 50 years of watching the team.

I have a hunch that Oran Kearney is going to turn out to be a quality appointment.

    Perhaps.

However, I’m sure Oran would agree that a return of 6 points from 14 games is nothing short of a disgrace.

Yes but given the squad of players he inherited its very difficult to see it being anything else.

McIntyre is finding it hard at Dundee also due to the same reasons.

We need a strong window and aim for 2nd bottom minimum.

    Yes.

But a cardboard cut out of Samson would be better than Rogers.

Lyness made a couple of good stops though his distribution was poor at times.

At least we competed for 90 minutes. Still think we're f*kced though.

If we stay within touching distance of Hamilton then we are anything but f*cked.

Good window in Jan with Gus and Jimmy Nicholls input too and we could get second bottom.

I think Dundee will be too good under McIntrye post window also.

The good new is we have found a keeper - someone that can keep a ball in the park on kickouts and make saves. And we save a wage with Rodgers returning to Aberdeen.  Other good news is we are closer to getting rid of those that are not performing. Edwards could easily do a job for Paisley Harriers I reckon but as a footballer he is rotten - cannot pass and with zero game awareness. I assume he must have incriminating photos of Oran to get a game each week.

What baffles me about Edwards is how Hearts ever signed this guy. Completely stumped on that one.

    FT 1-2

Deserved loss in the end. We just don’t offer enough. Aberdeen got the wind behind them second half and pinned us back and their winning goal was coming, another poorly defended set piece from us. We rallied a bit at the end but never created anything.

1 win in 17, bottom of the league and the 3 teams above us have a game in hand. We don’t have anyone of substance at the back, in midfield or in the dugout. The only good attacking player we have is Adam Hammil (another assist today). He went off injured and his contract is up in January when he will almost certainly leave.

    Merry Christmas!

I think in time you will as always be proved wrong again

    Said partially in jest Bud.

Hammill would be a great signing for JR and league one would be a great option with fantastic rewards for Hammill.  At the stage he is at in his career , would be a no brainer. 18 month contract , half a season in League one with the chance to show he can earn a new deal at Championship level. ..... if he can’t cut it at Champ level , he will get another Lg1 gig on the back of a League one  winners  medal.

Really, I very much doubt it.

Ask yourself why  Barnsley released him.

They are competing with Sunderland for the top spots in League One.

He isn't fit enough and he isn't good enough anymore for that level.

His performance level over 90 mins is nowhere near good enough for top league one side.

Good enough for SPFL which outside of Celtic is a very poor quality league.

This ( free to air ) , along with high admission prices and Season Tickets No Fecking Valid  will lead to near empty Stadiums at plenty of the Ties.

But the Clubs will get money from TV to waste on Players & fecking Players Agents.

    RIP The Beautiful Game

Couldn't agree more. Best Scottish Cup to watch is the Scottish Junior Cup. Proper football as it used to be and priced correctly !

When he was a pundit , Rodney Marsh was asked his view on a certain diving incident. His reply , along these lines , " at Fulham we were coached to dive , all you had to do was go down at the merest touch , we had the former Scottish footballer Graham Leggat as the forwards coach , and he educated us on how to perform the straight leg dive ". This was 50 years ago , so it's unlikely it will be eradicated any time soon. As a club St Mirren have missed out on appearing in National Finals because opponents have cheated. I can't think why we would stop trying to win fouls and penalties now.

I had a mate who played first team level for Ayr United while we were at school in the 80's and he was coached to dive.  He played in St Mirren youth team with Stevie Clarke and was coached to dive there too !. Used to practice it at PE during basketball and football. It will never be stopped, although VAR may influence it at top level and help cut it out to an extent but players will always look for advantage.

    Harsh TPAFKATS.

I'm with DJ on this one... Edwards best game for us.

May have been his best game for us but he was still junk.

We need to offload guys like this if we have any hope of staying up.

I actaully think TPATKATS is bang on with his assessment of Edwards.

The astonishing thing for me is why he ever made it to Tynecastle ?

For me the only real positive of yesterday was Erhahon and McPherson playing.

As the guy who pronounced that Baird was our best option at centre half - just before he was dropped - I then everyone can safely ignore your ludicrous opinion on players.

Yep and if you think Edwards is a player then we can safely ignore you too.

Think we will get something here. Surely... At least a draw?

Dundee remarkably seem to be even worse than us. Well they are worse than us because Alan Stubbs led us to victory over them. If they had even got a draw that day then they would be...

Seen a few people asking about the OK must go thread. You’ll get it if we lose this. I’m not having any excuses for losing 8 games on the spin.

Currently swallowing excuses for 7 losses in a row and matching half century old records. No more.

Must not lose. If we do lose, go straight to the Championship, do not pass go, do not collect...

    1-1

Why don't you just get your sack Kearney thread going, you have been wanting to start it for 8 matches now. You could start up your reinstate Stubbs thread too. Not quite sure what kind of thread you want to start for Jack Ross as you called that really well the last time !
