Billy Davies? Proven at the top level with multiple clubs?

    Am I Rip Van Winkle?

Derby County, Preston, Notts Forrest a level way above anything the Premiership in Scotland has to offer. Only Celtic are better than any of these clubs.  Of all the candidates listed he is head and shoulders above them.

Probably very unlikely. I'll probably be hated for saying it but Billy Reid if Graham Potter does leave Östersunds FK for Swansea, should be in contention.

Excellent level of experience, in the Scottish league, and now abroad so you'd assume decent contacts and a pretty good track record at youth level.

If our board are willing to risk the style of football though, is a different matter.

Otherwise Zedek Zemen get the hipster support onboard and go down in attacking flames.

Yep Billy Reid is another good shout. He should have taken Swansea job when oferred it. Unlikely though.

I would take Tommy Craig back over Billy Davies..............................  Both horrible scary thoughts

Billy has really been in demand hasn't he !!!!???

Well of all the managers mentioned Billy Davies is streets ahead. He is a stronger manager than Jack Ross currently is and is proven at the top level with multiple clubs.

We offered the job to him 18 months ago and Hearts would have too if he hadn't in effect told Levein he'd be surplus to requirements.

Davies would do the job that Clarke has done for Kilmarnock. His record in management is way stronger than Clark's also.

So if you prefer a flop like Neilson so be it but doesn't come close to Davies on any measure

We really love running ourselves into the ground - a truly Scottish trait. It's the 3rd tier in England and McGinn has been there before. If they wanted him and he wanted to go I'm sure he would do just fine especially with JR.

He was release by Wycombe in League 2 !. If Jack Ross signs McGinn for Sunderland he'll be back up here by Xmas

McGennis is a cert the other will be Stevie McGinn captain for good reason a person jack can rely on to make sure orders are followed on the field is also a fantastic passer.

Not Magennis of last season the season before yes. McGinn not an earthy. Magennis is the only player in SMFC squad that would have a chance of following Jack Ross

Not forgetting anything. Craig Levein in charge of Hearts for the vast majority of this season has helped them to a distant 6th - Robbie Neilson led them to 3rd in their first season back up after leading them to the championship title with a record points and goals tally in a league containing both Rangers and Hibs.

So Levein managed to hold Neison's hand to great results, but was far from impressive in his own right. Makes sense...

A move to England will always be a big gamble, as it's far more competitive - Jack will know this - but it's financially very attractive.

Not seeing where your horrendous assessment of him is coming from, but we'll soon find out how good or bad he is first hand when he takes over here...

I wonder what Jack Ross has to say about Levein and Neilson ?

Davies has already confirmed that we're beneath him.

Also, if he is half as good as he thinks he is, why aren't a host of clubs competing for his signature?

Davies thought he was too good for a basket case at the bottom of the Championship. With his record in management he was correct.

Neilson would be the ideal choice. Great records with Hearts, both in getting them promoted, and in working with youth. Also took Hearts to third in the Premiership. I'm not sure what about all that makes him the wrong appointment.

Eh maybe your forgetting Craig Levein. When away from Levein  holding his hand,  at MK Dons he was total junk. Essentaily fully responsible for getting them relegated. Overrated and a poor choice.

... and what of Jack Ross valuing his great working relationship with Gordon Scott and Tony Fitzpatrick? Guys if you turn on the telly this afternoon you'll see me being announced as the new Sunderland manager.

I think Jack Ross, Gordon Scott and Tony Fitzpatrick will all get along just fine after all this is complete.

Aye if you say so Jim ! BTW did you forget you were championing Billy Davies over on the other thread

yep i'd take Billy Davies before Jim McIntrye every day of the week and anyone else being quoted on these threads, but Billy Davies probably aint happening.

Not 100% convinced it will be any of the mangers being quoted across all threads

In my slowest voice, Roooobbbbbiiee Neeeeiiilllson is a veerrrrryy iinterseeeting indiviiiiduuual whoo  mmmakkkkes Craiggggg Levvvvien sooooounnnd vvvverrrry verrrry innnnterrrsting so would be a great choice, also bombed big time at MK Dons a made up club similar to Livingston.  David Hopkin FFS are you serious the ball would come back down wi snow on it with every attack. Danny Lennon also mentioned  nooooooooooo, may as well get Tommy Craig in just for a laugh. Jim Goodwin zero experience so another no.

Who the hell associated us with Jim Duffy a definite no from me. The board really have their work cut out given the timescale with pre season training etc. Something I haven't seen mention is how our players will react to all this, Steohen McGinn  amongst others thought very highly of Jack Ross, wonder how many Saints players will be enticed to Sunderland, wi Aye man.

A bloody mess at present, thanks Jack. In fact take Jack Baird and Danny Mullan tae Sunderland I'll even drive them there for you.

Zero, none are good enough. Wouldn't suprise me though is Jack Ross took McAllister from Derby.

I wouldn’t mind Neilson or Pressely

    Might start a thread..... :P

What, 2 failures?. We need better than these two.

Neilson utterly failed at MK. Wouldn't touch him.

Pressley getting quoted is beyond belief.

Chap Billy Davies's door again. I know not popular but  better than anything i have seen suggested. Hearts would have appointed him if he hadn't told Levein he would run the show
