  1. This I cant argue on...… and the core problem with devolved power. The SNPs will argue that they were doing the will of the Scots, however the English MPs are torn between what they want and what their constituents want.
The SNPs are classing Scotland as one voice, where we know very well it isn't. Our Fishing and Agricultural sectors in Scotland voted Leave, and the SNPs should take all Scots into account rather than this blanket approach, it will  their undoing  Nearly 40% of Scots voted to leave the EU and 55% voted to remain in the UK, sometimes in Scotland its the noisy minority that represent us

For once, you post some snippets of sense [emoji12]
  2. If its so easy to justify,. why is he being asked- he lost the second bill by 29 votes and he negated 21 of his votes. Slightly counterproductive wouldn't you say, Johnson had NO majority when he threw them out with the guy going to the Libs
He isn't a leader, just a bully and a liar

er, well, yes, the fact that he had no majority is the reason he wants an election and why he threw them out

Do you want me to repeat it a third time?
  3. So BJ has been asked why he got rid of 21 MPs by the 1922  club

And if its because he says they voted against the Govt on Brexit, how does he justify, he and his present cabinet, did exactly the same thing against May's regime FOUR times.....

Whatever comes out of this mess, our so called Leaders MUST be held accountable , for bare face lying, and bias ……………..

May didn’t throw them out because she’d have lost her majority and didn’t want an election

Boris can throw them out because he doesn’t care about having a majority and he wants an election

    Pretty easy to justify

  4. The difference between the UK and EU is that while EU laws need agreement from all, England’s 533 MPs can outvote the 117 MPs of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland every time. The other three can never solely create a government majority the way the English population can.

Hilary Benn’s European Union bill second reading was backed by 329 for and 300 against. A winning margin of 29.

All 35 SNP MPs voted for.

So the SNP won the day for Scotland against the wishes of England.

England is not a nation of unified opinion.

London has a greater population than Scotland and also had a majority vote to remain. But the rest of England outvoted them.

  5. I watched an interview yesterday with Nicola Sturgeon on GMTV (by Piers Morgan)
The thing that got me was that she touched on the subject of another Scottish referendum for an “independent Scotland”
One of his questions was. “How can Scotland be independent if the rules and regulations are basically governed by Brussels?”
I was a leave voter (Indy 1) due to the fact that if Scotland gained independence at the first time of asking, we’d have been kicked out of the EU meaning we’d be totally independent unless there was a vote to reapply.
So why would we want to be ruled by another body? Frying pan and fire spring to mind.

The UK and Scotland are part of Brussels. It’s not some separate entity that we play no part in.

And those rules and regulations will still exist regardless of whether we are part of the EU or not.

Would it not be better if we had a say in making those rules and regulations?

  6. The implementation difficulties is a separate discussion.

It's hard IMO to make a case for allowing people to stay in a scarce council home which is bigger than they need when families are crammed into flats. I find it very hard to believe that some kind of system to swap people around could not be conceived. Introducing financial incentives is certainly a perfectly good way of persuading people to move down and think of others.

This boils down to who you have more sympathy with - those who need to be moved from a home they've lived in for years or those struggling for space in cramped accomodation. Building more council houses is not the whole answer. This is a great example of a disagreement between left and right where the left climbs the moral high ground but the inconvenient truth is that both left and right are driven by a desire to help others.

But there just aren’t enough 1 bedroom properties to make the bedroom tax feasible.

It doesn’t really save the country any money and it just makes the Tories look nasty.

    It’s ludicrous.

  7. Nationalism is a difficult term, usually associated with xenophobia and racism (such as the BNP). Most nationalist party types fall in these lines.
The SNP however are the polar opposite, being one of the few to stand up for immigrants, against racism and show themselves as a welcoming party. Sometimes it’s difficult to call them nationalist as they aren’t your typical nationalist party.

That’s because Scotland hasn’t had to deal with large scale immigration in recent times like in England and other countries in Europe.

It’s easy for them to be a welcoming party when immigration isn’t an issue.

But I don’t think we can kid ourselves. I keep hearing that Scotland voted to remain as if Scotland is some united country on the matter.

But the fact is that approx a third of Scotland voted to leave. In terms of actual number of votes cast, as many people in Scotland voted to leave as voted for the SNP in the Scottish Parliament elections.

I have no doubt that immigration was a big factor in that.

And the fact that Scottish football is dominated by 2 clubs whose business model is based on the exploitation of hatred of the last large influx of immigrants to Scotland shows that Scotland is not as welcoming as made out.
  8. Boris sure is doing a great job for Indy and Corbyn and Libs. Wonder if when another 20 rebel today that they will get canned. Then clears way to do a deal with the Nazi party under fuhrer Farage.... BJ and JRMogg certainly are taking them in another direction with their no surrender cry. Maybe thats why Wendy Serco is so happy..

On the contrary, I’m against nationalism

    Unlike you [emoji849]

  9. Unless the Tories adopt no deal as their status quo into any manifesto Farage and his rabble will stand AGAINST the Tories thus splitting the Brexit vote. A no deal manifesto would be suicidal. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can see the opposition collectively playing with Boris and co like a cat with a mouse for a while. They are the majority now they can simply watch a government with an unprecedented minority wither and die as they are total lame ducks.

I was jesting in my previous posts, albeit, the benefits I outlined could well turn out to be true.

The opposition are not united in their anti Brexit stance by any stretch of the imagination.

And the entire pro Brexit vote does not necessarily want no deal.

It’s been Boris’ plan to win an election all along.

And securing a no deal Brexit or stopping Brexit isn’t going to help the SNP’s cause. It would be better for them if Boris won.
  10. There will be no GE without legislation preventing no deal now. It's dead as a dodo. Time for Sturgeon to play her hand now. Massive opportunity opening up here, the proverbial open goal.

The Tory / Brexit Party will simply reverse the legislation when they win the election [emoji1]

  11. So the next month after I posted is September, but I did not directly mean that.... I did not directly mean 3 games in August either... okay I really mean once he gets settled in... but I wrote what I wrote and like everything else on here people interpret these posts according to whatever slant they want - either to mock someone or to be their pal.
And whether he scores in 3 games in Aug or in 3 or 4 in Sept is not what really matters.
He will score goals plural...I stand by that and  it would be nice if that begins in the next 2 fixtures... but what matters is that we need to beat the likes of RC and the Hammers in most of our 3 or 4 fixtures against them this season.
Watch Obika and Morias once they knock in their 1st goals for us... no one knows when that will be, but it would not surprise me if it is not too far away...  :ninja

    Beep, beep, reverse, reverse!

  12. Agreed that he is unlikely to score in the next week since there is no match, but it is not very sensible to gauge his scoring ability after 3 matches.
PS. I see that Sweeper's initial post was made on the 9th of August, not the 8th. I can't stand the USA date format in the forum!

    @sweeper07 set the target!

    I agree, not very sensible
