  1. Your view would cripple health services globally & massively increase infected/ avoidable death rates. But hey at least the economy would be back at a higher level (for a while)

My view is the view of Sweden and it’s not crippling their services any more than its crippling ours.

Your view is based on an estimate by Imperial College which has not been peer reviewed. It’s based on an estimate where they have confirmed that the model is old, the calculations have not been verified and they have not been documented.

They have released neither the code behind their model nor their assumptions.

Other experts have challenged their model including a group at Oxford University.

Their model states that takes no account of the harm that a lockdown will do to the health service and does not estimate for the number of people who will die as a result.

  2. Spin away. As I’ve already pointed out to you, currently the death rate related to flu is much lower & it’s unfortunately accepted the flu virus has beaten us. It isn’t going anywhere.

    Spin away.

No it’s not been accepted that the death rate for flu is much lower.

44,000 people died of the flu in 2015 who wouldn’t have died had we locked down the economy.

Your disregard for these deaths is shocking.
  3. As I pointed out, 12% would still be far too high for me. Clearly not for you & your indifference to human life.

But 12% is okay if it’s flu?

Clearly yes and your shocking indifference to human life.

  4. Your whole point is basically "at what point do I value the economy over people avoidably dying?" You have a starting point of a double figure percentage ffs.

There is no twisting needed. Poor show.

It’s a double percentage point for flu.

Don’t you value the lives of people who die from flu?

There were 44,000 extra deaths caused by the flu in 14/15. The fact that you disregard these deaths is shocking.

A dreadful disregard fir human life.

  5. 12% avoidable deaths would still matter to me, just saying.

But you wouldn’t shut down the economy for flu?

Have you factored in the increased death toll caused by the lockdown?

Your indifference to human life is shocking

  6. Best estimates coming out now according to BBC last night is up to 2/3 of deaths with the coronavirus present, were related to people that would have likely died anyway. That means over 1/3 are people that would NOT of died.

Your indifference to human life is shameful. For someone that bangs on about the right wing, yours are definitely some of the most right wing views ever shared on here.

Also worth noting, it was mentioned the coronavirus likely accelerated many of the deaths of people that would probably have died anyway. Guess that doesn't matter either. Hiram says, open the country back up. Economy > human life!

The two thirds quote is from Neil Ferguson, so you’ll need to take up the indifference to human life with him

His figure is a made up guess

The Italian Health Institute confirmed that it was 88% in Italy according to their analysis

And all of this is no difference from the involvement of flu in deaths.

What is actually shameful is folk line you wishing a higher death total in order to score points on a football forum

  7. Do you think that by posting every other second on this that anyone is going to give your opinion a second thought ?
We know what you think I would imagine the vast majority of folks on the forum think your way off the mark but maybe just maybe you will be right.
Can you not wait till this is over and do the analysis like anyone of any intelligence would ?
You seem to be searching all over the web etc for anyone who takes a stance against the norm of expert opinion and using it to justify your cause.
This now seems to have developed into your life's work ?
Time to give the forum a rest

Why not just put me on ignore?
  8. Almost 1,200 people in the UK died with the common cold in March

(Note for TPAFTWAT.....they died WITH it, not OF it.... I know his brain struggles with the concept - thick as fuck)

With Neil Ferguson admitting that up to two thirds or coronavirus deaths would have died anyway and the Italian Health Institute disclosing that 88% of their deaths would have happened anyway, when will the government and media start accurately reporting coronavirus deaths?

  9. I noticed that Eddy Large - of Little and Large - died this morning. The news reported claimed he had died of Coronavirus whilst recovering from heart failure.

He was already in intensive care for heart failure.
  10. Professor John Oxford of Queen Mary University London, one of the world’s leading virologists and influenza specialists, comes to the following conclusion regarding Covid19: „Personally, I would say the best advice is to spend less time watching TV news which is sensational and not very good. Personally, I view this Covid outbreak as akin to a bad winter influenza epidemic. In this case we have had 8000 deaths this last year in the ‘at risk’ groups viz over 65% people with heart disease etc. I do not feel this current Covid will exceed this number. We are suffering from a media epidemic!“

  11. According to the latest influenza report of the German Robert Koch Institute, the number of acute respiratory diseases has „fallen sharply nationwide“. The values have „dropped in all age groups“.

And coronavirus only accounts for 7% of these cases

  12. Biophysicist Felix Scholkmann has confirmed the fact that in the US (as in the rest of the world), it is not the number of „infected“ people that is increasing exponentially, but the number of tests. The number of „infected“ people in relation to the number of tests remains basically constant (oscillating between 10 and 20%), which speaks against a current viral epidemic.

  13. From Swiss Propaganda Research

The answer to all the questions appears to be TPAFTWAT

In the current situation, the old and proven propaganda rule applies again: the less is known, the more is speculated. For attentive readers, however, this offers an opportunity to assess the standards and focus of different media outlets and authors.

    One may ask, for example:

Who merely counts test-positive case and death figures without asking what these people actually fall ill with or die of?

Who addresses the issue of so-called excess mortality, which is still within or even below the normal range in all countries and age groups?

Who asks how many additional, unexpected pneumonia patients there are in intensive care units, and what their age and health profile is?

Who verifies if the number of test-positive people is simply rising proportional to the number of tests, i.e. stays constant in percentage terms?

Who prefers frightening pictures of viruses, protective suits and coffins rather than actual data, facts and background information?

Who discusses the well-known problems with virus test kits in general, and the missing clinical validation of the currently used virus test kit in particular?

Who highlights the problematic role played by the WHO in previous cases, and in this one?

Who is trying to add a political or geopolitical spin to the current situation?

  14. He didn't! And how in heavens name did you manage to arrive at the conclusion that it was homophobic?

He has called my reaction “ faux outrage”

He is totally correct, my “outrage” is totally faux

I just enjoy nit picking the posts of pompous, holier than thou, morally superior twats

You’d need to ask him why he thinks I was outraged if there was nothing to be outraged about.....

  15. This New York you speak of, is this on another planet?

In one 24-hour period last week, 2000 people were hospitalised in the city. Most of the positive covid-19 test results have been clustered in the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn.

At a press conference on 25 March, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio said these are “numbers I can barely even comprehend… number that would have been unimaginable just a couple of weeks ago”.

In Queens, hospitals and emergency rooms have been flooded with critically ill covid-19 patients struggling to breathe. “It’s inconceivable. Everything we know about medicine is out the window,” says Lisa Epstein, a nurse at New York-Presbyterian Queens, who is working in the hospital’s emergency room.

Waiting areas have been repurposed to treat people with covid-19. Beds, chairs, wheelchairs and stretchers fill every available space. “It’s like a war zone, only there’s no blood,” says Epstein, who has been a nurse for 40 years.

    Yeh, that’s the one

Actual people in New York have been visiting the actual hospitals in these reports and finding that nothing is happening

Indeed, one TV news report was caught using footage from Italy and trying to pass it off as a hospital in New York
  16. Possibly.

It might be time for her, and the UK government to reiterate the message as there's noticeable increase in people and traffic.

Noticed last night Italy have just reduced their lock down to allow parents out with children.

Our version, whither we like it or not, is much less stringent.

Oaky was forecasting 600-700 by tomorrow, I was forecasting in excess of 500.

His forecast may well be bang on.

As you mentioned though, it’s meaningless.

60,000 people with the common cold die each year, which of course is meaningless.

Strangely, TPAFTWAT appeared to think that people dying with the cold wasn’t meaningless?

    Shows lack of intelligence.

The real figures to watch are excess mortality

It’s very early days but excess mortality in England & Wales this year is currently negative.

In other words, less people have died than usually do.

Need to see how this rises.

  17. "Predictions" falling apart by the day.
    2,507 predicted, 1.902, 24% OUT.
All in all, a pointless exercise.

The number of deaths being released at the moment is higher than when the shit really started to hit the fan in Italy with TV pictures of hospitals in chaos

I’ve yet to see this chaos reported in the UK

Similar to New York which is now the epicentre of the crisis yet hospitals have never been quieter
  18. Latest deaths released by the ONS

So far in England & Wales this year there have been 138,916 deaths

This is 4,822 LESS than the average

Of these, respiratory disease ( not including coronavirus) was the underlying cause of 21,212 of them.

  19. I didn't delete the post, it's still there. Post #13 in the thread dated 29/02. Are you really, really stupid or are you lying to try and score points against me?
Have we now moved to "distasteful" as opposed to "misogynistic" or "homophobic" ?

How f**king cringy for you. Faux outrage and lies from a guy who is happy to see folk die so that he can go out.

  20. It sells papers and boosts viewing figures Faraway. That's what they are driven by. It's good business for them to stoke fear.

“Actually, it’s not really as bad as the flu” wouldn’t sell papers
