  1. Not noticed anything about it on here, but it appears that The Afton has been opened a while and is operating as…
… a Rangers Bar?  Low key, as they say.  But it will show “the Games”.
    Inn on the Corner.

ETA: reading the final page of that (someone had to do it!), it seems shut again.
Yeah it had a short life when it opened last year.

It has reopened with the lassies that used to have the Anchor now in charge. Definitely not a weegie pub.
  2. A SNP MP jumps ship?
    Has the SNP boat sailed?
Free for 23.............................what happened to that slogan? [emoji38]
Maybe the Scottish MP's will concentrate on managing their local regions, not before time.

Is that the one who knew she was getting her jotters a few hours later. [emoji1787]

  3. I think St Mirren’s is much better value for people who like a bevvy. Looking at you [mention=15909]Cookie Monster[/mention] [mention=1711]TPAFKA Jersey 2[/mention][emoji482] [emoji482] [emoji482]
Plus I’ve been in there when Kilmarnock visited last season and there were opposition fans in with their club colours on.

Definitely, especially if you're an invited guest. [emoji16]

I believe the last time I may have had a few glasses of wine in between waiting on my beers. Whilst taking full advantage of the champagne (prosecco) reception in I believe the boardroom.

Cannie remember for definite as detailed above. [emoji2957]

  4. I love them too.
But last night they really failed to impress me.
Mind you... I was 10 minutes away in the Argyle and Cellar bar watching the wonderful Irish singer Brigid O'Neill.

I did hear from a friend who was there that Deacon Blue were in top form though. [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122]

    2+2=5

PS, well done helping a fellow bud out. [emoji122]

You can be a good person some of the time. [emoji14]

  5. The meaning of the genealogy in Genesis?  It's an attempt to show that the Jews are direct descendants of Adam (who didn't exist - at least in the biblical sense).  Are you talking about something else?

The Messiah was supposed to be a direct descendent of David but Jesus wasn't as it was Joseph that was supposedly descended from David, not Mary, and the bible goes out of its way to say that Joseph wasn't Jesus' auld man.

Mary was also a descendent of David [emoji6]

Joseph through David's son Solomon and Mary through David's son Nathan.

  6. Why should SMISA gift the money for some business people to benefit? Get that idea in the bin.

The club is a limited company and should be able to source the funds for this initiative.

If it was something that the whole support would benefit from I’d agree.

The club could but it would affect other outgoings, ie 2 players wages.

We will benefit, after it's repaid then the budget for players will increase so we can either keep hold of players or entice better players to the club.

As a comparison to what you wrote, the funding for the raised platform for less able bodied supporters didn't benefit the whole support. I don't know of any supporter that thinks that was a bad idea even though it reduced the capacity.

  7. OPM - that’s the model the “rich” use.
    Other people’s money.
Why doesn’t Baz ask his “employer” for a soft loan? Or maybe they can’t get a government grant approved. [emoji23]

Baz isn't an employee of the Kibble.

Yeah I know how surprising that news sounds. [emoji6]

  8. The latest - definite yes for me. Tbh though, I think I’d prefer SMISA to just gift the money if it’s there from our reserves over the monthly contributions

    This isn't a 3 month option.

The club would obviously prefer to repay the money and keep it in SMISA'S reserves for the benefit of the club in the future.

If you want to donate £80,000 independently carry on, the club would appreciate it but don't go spending money that's not just yours. [emoji14]
  9. It could (and should) be far more than that but I agree with your overall premise.

Screenshot is for a an instant access account (rounded down) going now. If they put it in a 4 year fixed rate bond, at current fixed rates it would probably be more.

Did you take into account the repayments?
  10. I estimated and since had it corroborated by someone that is more financially knowledgeable than myself, that the interest lost by SMISA over the 4 years to be approx *£2000, a small amount for an investment that will be recouped many times over by our club. 🫰

*Remember, interest rates can go up or down. [emoji6]
