  1. From a financial standpoint it suits us that United are promoted as I understand the agreement reached regarding Declan Gallagher.
“The towering defender has penned a two-year contract, joining from Premiership side St Mirren after an undisclosed future fee — understood to be conditional on United's promotion — was agreed with the Buddies.” 26 Jul 2023

Depends on the amount, if its less than a finishing place or two at the season end then no. I'd rather a "diddy" club got promoted before them. [emoji6]

  2.
Taken in isolation, of course anybody who raises millions of pounds for charitable causes has done a good thing.  The fact is Saville's charitable causes was considered to be subterfuge for his criminal activities nullifies them, as they were purely for selfish gain.
Firstly, Brand's innocent until proven guilty and as you have stated, these are merely allegations (I'm unsure why you have used quotation marks). Secondly, I find that the timing of them to to be suspicious and perhaps a way for the rich and powerful to discredit him. Julian Assange had sexual allegations levelled at him, which I also find suspicious. It means that folk tend to dismiss the good work done by these people as they're tainted by the nature of the allegations and therefore are immediately assumed to have a poor moral character.

It's the timing of the allegations that's interesting.

So what were these criminal activities, as in your reckoning regarding brands innocence, Saville was never even charged with anything, never mind convicted.

A lot of folk feel guilty for what has happened to them regarding sexual assaults and it takes then time to find the courage to go to the police to report the attacks.

The me too movement (a very recent campaign) is there to give victims all the help they require.

Brand even boasted on radio immediately after one claimed assualt.

By the way, the earth isn't flat and the lizards aren't running the world.

  3. Also, with respect to the hospitality when we play the Old Firm, I noticed it had all gone on the day it was released, which I would suggest indicates we're not charging enough. Let's milk them for everything we can.

I know of a couple of companies that sponsor our club and they always purchase the hospitality when two glasgow clubs are visiting. Possibly a perk in sponsoring.

  4. My apologies.
Application made for funding to finance a build on Club land without the required club permission.
Is that worse or better than a planning application?

    That's the grey area. [emoji6]

I'd hate to think that the Kibble's intention was to get the funding then put our club under pressure to sell for the wellbeing of the application and its objectives.

I have mentioned before. The land is no where big enough on its own for the planned intentions.
  5. Was at the bar last night and asked the barmaid for some angostura bitters, as she's returning with it she's noticed I've pulled out my manhood. She shrieks WTF you doing. I reply I was planning to pour it on it to see if it worked the same way as it does for vodka. [emoji1787]

  6. ach Basil, you describe it as trivial but to others, it matters & it matters a wee bit more than being trivial.
Surely, the first rule of planning applications is to have the landowners consent to use their land before submitting any planning application and not to seek their permission retrospectively?
Not sure how it would have panned out if the planning application had been approved (without this furore) & then The Club declined a request to build on their land. The right thing to do was to ask first.
Are you sure you're not trivialising it to justify your anti AW view.
Thankfully, AW's stadium ban has been lifted and another Buddie fills another seat.

It wasn't a planning application. It was a grant application for funding. [emoji6]

  7. Can’t be bothered responding to the litany of either thick or bigoted comments above, but…

I hope you wouldn't think my comment were thick or bigoted.

I had planned in my passing to go into Kwang Tung for my supper, but was gutted it was closed by the time I passed.

I've spoken to Peter who I believe is the current owner numerous times and I have dealings with him professionally a few times. Another person who is an excellent host who provided many buds excellent cuisine.
  8. Quick question. I usually print my pdf tickets that I get sent through to my email, but I don’t have access to a printer before Saturday.
Can I just scan the pdf QR code directly from my phone to the turnstile and if so do screenshots work too?
Yes and the last time I tried, yes. No reason it shouldn't if the screenshot is clear.
Think they had initial problems due to sunlight and the brightness of the display on the phones. Haven't heard or seen anyone moaning about it in a while. [emoji848][emoji6][emoji1696]
  9. Interesting point, however the question should be why we don’t have a Chinese history month or Indian history month. Both these minority ethnic groups have contributed to British history and culture. Why black history month?
My son still pulls me up for saying chinky, even after i told him the story of the conversation I had with a person of Chinese heritage.

The old owner of Pak Ho Chinese takeaway in Gallowhill (Paul) said it's all down to the tone or the add ons to the saying that is offensive not the word. He gave the example of someone saying I was a Scot, not from Scotland or Scottish. So for me to say to someone that "I was going to have a chinky" is OK while saying in a derogatory manner "those chinky's" or "chinky bassa's" is correctly offensive and racist.
  10. It's usually January, February March April May June July august September October November December…
… at least it has been for a couple of centuries, as far as I know…
Why has August not got a capital a at the beginning of it. Some could class that as discrimination. Where's TT when you need him. [emoji14]
