Alex and Jamie used to finish the night off with it.
I was probably staggering home by that point

I still see Alex sometimes at the football.
Alex was a great guy . He used to always play any requests that I gave him . Although he did have a fondness for Paisley's own Kelly Marie's "Feels Like I'm in Love"

Stringfellow's was roughly where the petrol station in the photo is. Caledonia Bowling club starts just after the BP sign.
Thanks m8 !

Slightly off topic . I had a family friend that used to DJ in Harvies for time to time . Jim Young was his name . He had a younger brother called Ian and a sister called Ann . They came from Glenburn . The father was called Jimmy Young . Wouldn't mind trying to track them down , so if anyone knows them could they let me know . Cheers !

Thanks Slarti . I've been away more or less since 1993 , so mentioning a petrol station to me now won't help much I've looked on Google maps . Think it was near that bend at "Mossvale Community Church" . No ? Anyway . I'm just happy that I wasn't imagining it

Hi faraway saint !
Thanks for that m8 . I thought I was going nuts there for a while , as a Google search brought up nothing . Maybe I was the first person ever to search for it To be honest the "Bob Inn" doesn't ring any bells with me , but I'm glad I got the Stringfellows part right Yeah . A dump is maybe being a bit cruel . Thinking back it's difficult to give it a label . As you say , maybe "an acquired taste" would be best .
Cheers !

Hi All .
Right . This has been bugging me for a while now . Wasn't there a disco in the mid 80s called "Stringfellows" ? I've been away for years , but heading out of Paisley maybe towards the airport , or the old Love St somewhere . I remember going there on a Sunday night sometime around 84 . I can see the building in my head and the car park for some reason It was a dump , but I definitely remember the place . Anyway . Yeah . Paris , The Cotton Club , The Wine Bar . Everything on Shuttle St. All great places back in the day . I lived in Seedhill in 89 , so we used to go to Harvies a lot . "Alex" the doorman , and "Overnight Sensation" being the resident band during the week . Alex was great . He's let us all in one week . Then the next week he's make us all wait , so everyone would pile into the "old man's" bar all dickied up for a few beers , and then we'd try again a few hours later . That was the first (and maybe only) time I saw 2 girls fighting . One of the them ripped the top of the other one and she had no bra on , so that has always left a pleasant memory with me .

The only one I know from that list is "Reflections" . No idea where it was , but I was definitely in it at some point
