3. I just noticed all this blatant Kid A bashing....I dont see how anyone can like OK Computer and not Kid A! I didnt like it at first either but it really did grow on me.....now I reckon its one of the greatest albums ever. So Radiohead wont be my top 5 bands/artists who had and lost it, who are:

80s- U2, NWA, The Pogues, Halfman Halfbiscuit, The Smiths

90s- Stone Roses, Faith No More, Blur, James, Radiohead

00s- The Killers- music has bored me from the late 80s onwards

    198902

    The Killers???? ****

Another case of you getting bored of music rather than the other way around. The music of this generation is every bit as good as the 60s & 70s.

  7. Not arguing- IMO Bob's last Great albums were in done in the late 70's.

If, of late, he does deals wie starbucks - :(

Still that's more than 40 years after his best work.

Bob was totemic for us in the 60's.

    198436

Exactly.....what a shame he feels the need to cash in on his popularity now. You have to ask why??? Surely he has made enough cash singing about our rights over the past 4 decades?!

  8. I think the latest Mercury Rev album is a little poor but Deserts Songs is a sensational album. The Flaming Lips have a good claim at being the best band in the world just now, both live and recorded they are amazingly inventive and imaginative. SFA are great too....this thread is about influential bands and I would like to say SFA and Blur and the most influential British bands of the 90's/00's - unfortunately the bands that have influenced pop the most have been Coldplay and the Spice Girls!

  9. Well....they did have a stab at everything, som eif it disnae work though does it?!!

They are the true sipirt of punk though, politically inspiration for many and they demonstrated how important music can be. Not to mention the tunes are feckin amazing!! Its band like The Clash that make people fall in love with music and make it so important to many peoples lives. This is why so many of us cant stand the commercial side of music, the industry and the manipulation.......may Keane and Green Day hang their heads in shame!

  10. I take it your joking here and if your not you need to broaden your musical horizons a little and i'm not talking Green day ether

Hey Bongo, sure the Clash here a fine band but the best of all time tut tut.

I can see you were a punkman. You did not frequent a Monday night at the Silver Thread by any chance. Aye these were the day's

    198175

I assumed the Green Day thing was a joke.....but he's probably not far off with The Clash I reckon.

  11. I think you are talking out of your arse regarding Radiohead but I cant be arsed to argue. I think recording the two (or even three) albums that many people consider to be the best of their decade could be regarded as reaching their potential though!

Come up with one band you would consider as orignal then?? Everyone is influenced by someone, even Aphex Twin.

  12. That's a shame you were at a bad Radiohead gig...they were responsible for the best gig I have ever been to. Kid A was an amazing and original album - an epic. Comments like "it's weird" are boring to say the least.

It's a bit harsh on Radiohead to blame them for Chris Martin imitating Thom Yorke's vocals. Besides, the compositions and riffs are what make Radiohead not Yorke.

I would even say its harsh on Coldplay to blame them for Keane who are in all a whole new world of bed wetting lameness. Keane wouldn't exist without Coldplay, granted but at least Coldplay can come up with some good driving bass lines and are quite a tight band ableit with a frontman sin baws.

In short....as much as I hate music nazis - KEANE AND ALL WHO LISTEN TO THEM MUST BE DESTROYED.

  13. How the hell can you compare Radiohead with those other three? Fair enough if you dont like the music but they are easily the most creative band of the last 10 years. I dont think you can seriously compare the brilliance of OK Computer and Kid A with the sound of that fat lass from Keane?
