  1. Why it is an own-goal? There is no CIC just now, so there has been no authority to progress any initiative on this scale.

If this was a CIC proposal, then that is all it was....a proposal.

Proposals get launched with a photocall, press conference and a splash on all available media then?

Well, on that basis, they are almost indistinguishable from publicity stunts

  2. There is a significant cost involved in the inital installation. The board would have to sanction such an investment. RA doesn't have control of the club, so not his decision.

You mean it's not free??? Feck me! what a revelation

  3. the only real issues are the load capacity of the roofs (and maybe walls) and the availability of a grid connection with sufficient capacity to take the output, but if it is a good idea then why does it have to be a CIC venture? Cant it go ahead as a SMFC venture? Young dick is on the board and is supposedly calling the shots. Is his duty as a director not to act in the best interests of the club? if so, why wait?

  4. It was just a feasability study done, we never actually ordered the kit.

but so much was made of it at the time? heaven forbid it was just a publicity stunt to drum up support for the CIC.

Bit of a PR howler to announce it as such a groundbreaking initiative when it wasnt even properly researched

  5. There are now three key points being made as the argument against the CIC:

    1. We got knocked out of the cup by Ayr United

    2. St Sid was a childhood sellik fan

    3. Lack of availability of St Mirren embossed underpants

    :P

isnt it time you logged on as stuart dickson and started an argument with yourself?

  6. I've never seen religious bigotry posted on on b+w army and comments about religious affiliation are merely in response to the bigots from Glasgow and their blight on the beautiful game in Scotland.

It's only a game etc, discussion should all be about football and most Buddies would be happy if that were so. I honestly feel your argument/comments on those grounds should be directed elsewhere.

I get the impression that you've not shared a ground with Old Scum fans to be so mellow about 'not hating'...dry.gif

Although I happily admit that if people ask religious-related questions in General Nonsense then I'm more than happy to affirm my secular stance and respond from my aetheist point of view.

    Me.

But that gives me little right to proscribe the comments and opinions of other Buddies...

If you find them distasteful, tediously aggressive or simply boring and thick, put them on IGNORE. That's what I've done. Though when users get banned by the Mods then quickly reappear and are tolerated in another guise, you need to keep re-IGNORING them...

Worth the effort. It will make your lurking experience so less stressful.

    I hope this helps? :)

A quick look at the thread on catholic schools from a couple of months ago will alter your thinking.

  7. We have had a critical update recently in reply to Is the CIC dead?........Div said no....thats good enough for me and gives a clear indication that the deal is going ahead.....why can't everyone who supports the deal just celebrate that it is now a fact instead of making up fictitious bids from any number of former directors who are not cash rich enough to buy a football club for £2million. Any other bid will need to get their money back!

May i remind you that little dicky is not cash-rich enough to purchase the shareholding either, otherwise he would not be asking the likes of you for the money.

    Fact

  8. From a personal point of view Richard began this venture with the best of intentions. He has his own buisness to manage and that's where his priorities should be. The only problem I have is he should have kept us informed on a weekly basis. I do think it's dead now and he needs to come out and tell us why.

I dont think that is true, it's a family-run firm in which he plays a role but is by no means the central figure

  9. Very good post with which I agree - with the exception of the last paragraph.

If Atkinson were to front up some cash now, the accusation could be levelled that this was his intention all along, and that the CiC was a vehicle for his own ambitions. Granted, there might well be an element of that in any event, but while he isn't putting his own cash up as an integral element of the deal, SMFC will not be beholding to him as the club might be if his money were the deal maker/breaker. I'm unsure as to any technicalities associated with this so could well be talking nonsense, but something tells me it might be a bit suspect (or would be perceived in some quarters as such) if Atkinson were to open his wallet at this stage.

Well it would be a hell of a surprise to me.

  10. Stuart Gilmour was on TV saying he expected it to be complete in 10 days that was 11 day's ago. Have also read it will take as long as it takes. Nothing can be added that has not all ready been said. We know CIC 99% there so waiting on that 1% to push it over the line.

As you wrote the club is running along fine , In fact better than it has since our return to the SPL so what's the big rush ?

because there is a chance that the changes are built on shifting sands, depite my cynicism i am not entirely anti-CiC, I just think the asking price for the shares is far too high and feel the uncertainty and lack of information produces a huge questionmark over the club. i suspect the stumbling block might be the hefty price tag on a club that few other people want to buy, why should anyone lend or grant such a hefty sum on a shareholding that is obviously not worth the asking price? These people are answerable on these decisions.

The uncertainty could soon prove to harm the club as we do require a line of credit that relies as much on good faith and continuity of ownership as it does on banking rules. our bankers wont be happy if this drags on interminably, they will be much better informed than the support are but their patience will have it's limits.

And we cant help, the people who are taking their time over the decisions are simply performing due-dilligence. They cannot and should not be swayed by the voices of vested interests, no matter how well-presented they might be. They might even be persauded not to back this initiative if they feel that the 10000 hours people are resorting to populist tactics to try and sway their thinking.

It's really hard for anyone outside of the 10000 years committee to know how long it will take and what is required to get it over the line (if the will to do so is still there)

Maybe if young Dick were to flash some of his own cash in exchange for control of the club there might be a change of tack

  11. Who grassed you up Bud? Was it that fandan from Dalgety Bay? :P

    Touched a nerve or what?

Will you be changing your user name to something that covers all the aliases? Like vicious dicko perhaps?

The way the two of you seem to disagree but always seem to set each other up nicely for the next exchange certainly raises a few suspicions.

You can call me names on here all you like, the fact that i know you would never do it to my face speaks volumes of your self-styled rampaging wit.

If it wasn't so very predictable, i'd brace myself for the next barrage of petty insults and cheeky wee emoticons. However there is that thing known as real life to get on with.

  12. I'm just surprised that anyone thinks that St Mirren fans on B&W Army would be clever enough to be able to write anything never mind a constitution. Certainly some of the barely literate pish I've read on here since joining doesn't fill me with confidence. :P

To be perfectly honest I'm quite happy that the Community Groups, who are used to writing constitutions, would have the biggest input as I think they are the most important element of the CIC. I also know that Constitutions can be amended or even re-written quite easily and adopted at any AGM or EGM. I would also imagine that in the case of an organisation like 10000hours it's very likely that the constitution will have to be amended every year simply because of the nature of the membership cycles

I know several saints fans with the intellect and credibiliy to write a constitution. Unfortunately they are all too busy running businesses or pursuing successful careers to get involved in a CIC venture and have even less time to spunk away on co-ramblings with internet fantasists.

But you and Sid can knock yourself out (or knock one out, if you prefer) on at least one count.

  13. Really , I did a party recently in Ross Priory , Loch Lomond , a pretty exclusive venue , much more so than SMP . Can't see Ross Priory being in the category of " any old function suite" ?

I used to have my lunch up there whilst attending to matters at the water treatment works. One of my favourite spots in the world

  14. Ok, maybe I should have explicitly stated that if someone is willing to pay top rate, they are more than welcome to hire the function for pretty much any event. I was basing my analysis on average, run of the mill functions, rather than anything fancy. For not making that clear I apologise.

It is worth mentioning that the University of Strathclyde charge a small fortune for the Priory. Firstly the high fees will off-set against minimal damage and secondly they will prevent most schemies from being able to justify such a function, meaning they are few and far between. The Priory is used mainly for university related conferences.

If you think St Mirren park should charge the level of fees the Priory charge, then fair enough, but I doubt the club will get much business.

I think we should just close the forum on the basis that you know bloody everything and it is pointless for the rest of us to discuss anything.

  15. He's got nothing to pursue anyone with. Like I said there is no credit agreement. I wish you'd cease from behaving like a stroppy girl on her first period and listen to what people who know what they are talking about are telling you....

Hardly surprising since it is not credit. It is, however, a form of contract.
