Best goal of the World Cup ever? C'mon now.

In fact I've always thought there was something a bit iffy about that goal.

He gets the ball in the inside right position and he gets six touches, all with his left foot. Meanwhile the Dutch defenders are doing a good job of jumping out of his road.

Remember also the best result for Holland that afternoon was a narrow defeat. That meant they would qualify from second place and avoid Argentina in the next round.

:-D That's right, it was a shite goal and the Netherlands let Scotland win. Just talk to a Dutch person. They'll be in total agreement......

I think that we will have to give the new players time to settle in and to get used to each other. Improvement will take time.

By the way, I see that Isma is on the point of signing for Hearts.

No excuses? Because 8 new players that have never played together before don't get any time at all to come together as a team?

I think that's a bit too much pressure on them.  I have faith we'll stay up but if we don't then I would still be retaining Ross.

We demand instant positive results. The instanter the better otherwise those failing the club and supporters must be murdered.

The news report I saw (can't recall if it was BBC or itn) sold 3000 American troops on the Russian border as a wonderful development for Poland, even going so far as to claim that some Polish citizens had been waiting since the 1940s for this to happen.
No interview with anyone actually stating this, obviously.
Also no consideration as to how Russian people would take react to a foreign army mustering on its border.
    Post truth right enough

Which brings things round to the Crimea and the fact that Ukraine being part of NATO would effectively mean a foreign aggressor mustering their naval fleet right on the doorstep of Russia.

Obama is doing a bit of sabre rattling right now , with 3000 troops plus armour sent into Poland plus a similar deployment on the Norway/Russian border. Perhaps Trump will withdraw them again when he takes the podium. .

Yeah, funny how that just got a cursory mention on the news. You'd think this would be quite a significant move, wouldn't you.....?

No TV so watch a lot of youtube on the phone. Came across a great film documentary by British  journalist written by John Pilger- Coming War On China. Having worked in many African countries was always amazed how many Chinese I seen there. Thing is where China is putting in infrastructure is extremely good. Watch the film you won't be disappointed, or maybe you will . (Edit) fixed I think lol

Watched it when it was broadcast and found it fascinating. Since then I've been keeping an eye open for such things and they're becoming more noticeable.

For me the Mobray game, just days after the horror game that we dare not mention, me and a few buds that were expecting a humping and decided to go anyway, SACKED IN THE MORNING, Andy Dorman and wee Stevie Thomson... and then St Murrns Day, a few months before I had to move back to Oz to work... whit a time it was.. I feckin love Paisley.

I've had this argument on many occasions, that although that final was a huge disappointment there is NO WAY on EARTH it was anywhere near as bad as Wednesday the 6th of November 1985 and the Swedish Team. THAT was the worst ever.

You know it makes sense Div,

Coupled with the visitation of more than a few who bemoaned his presence and  posting style on the main boards, the notoriety of the Sin Bin 1 only gets enhanced with the creation of his very own Robben Island.

You know he's unlikely to change his stance on many matters concerning St Mirren but, the entire forum will not be so lively without the big fella chucking in his tuppence worth and offending folk who perpetually want to be offended. Free the Sin Bin 1.

Sod that, there should be more punters in there! Incarcerate the Sin Bin 40!

The non arrested, non convicted loan signing from Aberdeen.  If I were Craig Storie I'd get someone at the club to have a word with Div about allowing such statements on his forum.

Oh, that'll be Stuart Dickson who posted the bank account details of St. Mirren football club in the public domain without permission. Which is against the law........

I'm all for free speech and all that, but some posters on here are just annoying. They are polluting the board with their nonsense and trolling.

Instead of banning these folk, I've introduced a new area of the forum called The Sin Bin.

Posters who are deemed to be destructive, annoying, or incredibly negative, will be pushed into a new group called "Sinners". All other members are in the "Saints" group.

Sinners will ONLY be able to post in The Sin Bin. They can read any other area of the forum but they are not permitted to post in those areas, they must confine themselves to posting in The Sin Bin area only.

Saints can post anywhere, so if you want to engage with The Sinners you can do so. If you wish to ignore them you can just never visit The Sin Bin area.

If you see the Group "Sinners" next to your name, you've been moved to The Sin Bin.

Sure you'll have enough space in the Sin Bin, Div............?

It's still possible to win the league...

It's very possible to stay up...

And it's just possible to make 5th, and if it's possible to make 5th, then 4th is on the same points at the moment...

But let's win tomorrow first, then see how things look from there.

Indeed. Me, I still reckon we'll be off the bottom before next year but also think 6th or 7th more likely.

    See the post above.

The phrase "get real" springs to mind.

If this comes true, and someone sticks a fiver on it they will be flippin rich.

As I said, nothing's impossibly, but getting 18 points, or more, from the 8 games is.

    I'm only being realistic.

We have won 2 games all season, yes the last 2, but to expect to..................ach, ok, we'll win them all.

Incorrect; it's actually 8 games.

    Indeed.

We are 4 points adrift at the bottom and in a worse position than we were the day Ross was appointed.

Talk of anything other than staying up at this stage is premature in the extreme.

    Knicker wetter.... :double

    Season 16/17

    Next 10 games:

    Home games
    Ayr (h) 3 points
    Morton (h) 3 points
    QoTS (h) 3 points
    Falkirk (h) 1 point
    Dundee Utd (h) 1 point
    Hibs (h) 0 points

I'm not sure about this one and the two after that I'm not looking that far ahead. The other three, however, I'd go along with.

    Time, of course, shall tell.

  12. 4 hours ago, faraway saint said:

    Indeed.

Some of these "predictions" are beyond belief and the expectation surpasses even that of Hibs and Dundee United.

To even suggest this is quite amusing, to say the least.

Nothing is impossible, but some of these predictions are.

So you don't think Saints are capable of winning in Paisley this Saturday against a team that have already been beaten twice this season in Paisley....?

  13. Just now, DougJamie said:

Couple of weeks a few on here were saying Spartans would beat us lol

What a fickle bunch we are !!!!!

    Hope ur right

    Oh , 7, 24, 41, 47, 51, 54 Winning Lotto numbers

Well, that would not be me; I have the confidence in my team that things will improve on account of Saints being better than Ayr United & Dumbarton, and probably at least Queen of the South and perhaps Dungfermline. I did, of course, get slagged off for saying this by punters who cannot see perspective and were adamant Saints were "doomed" and would end up a part-time club in the third tier of Scottish football. Naturally, I pulled them up as being the fuds they are...

We’ve got a decent run of games coming up from December to the end of February that when you look at them all individually are definitely winnable (apart from maybe Dundee U away) if we play like we did this week.

    Ayr (H)

    Dundee U (A)

    Morton (H)

    QoS (H)

    Dunfermline (A)

    Falkirk (H)

    Dumbarton (A)

    Ayr (A)

It’s not out of the question to take 18+ points from that run,  at the moment we’re 13 points behind the playoff spots so we could get ourselves back in the hunt.

It’s a massive ask though ask considering we haven’t won 3 league games on the bounce in years, I’d be happy just to get to 8th by then.

United away is the only game I have any fear over. The next three home games I reckon Saints will manage to get at least seven points of the nine. Like I said, off the bottom by the end of the year, out the bottom two by the end of January at the latest and a mid-table finish.
