You missed out - "we should never have sacked ( insert ex manager here ) " .

Ah, well, no; y’see, that’s what *I* would normally say therefore I shall not incriminate myself as being a stereotype.

  2. Sorry, unless Saints are on a cup run or pushing for promotion you’re not allowed to use that phrase. It’s only when things are good not when they’re bad. When things are bad and you use the phrase “Keep the Faith” and attempt to foster an atmosphere of encouragement and support you are, quite rightly, ridiculed and referred to as a “happy clapper”. When things ARE bad the correct phrase to use is one of the following:-

“(Insert name of manager here) must go!”

“(Insert name of manager here) is tactically naïve!”

“Get tae f*** (insert name of manager here), ya clueless arsehole”

    “Sack the board!”

    “F*** off happy clappers!”

“I’m not a pessimist, I’m a realist and the reality is Saint Murn are shite an’ you can ram yer KTF pish up yer hole!”

I hope this helps for future reference...

I was doing the club Twitter last night and the notifications showed some top BANTZ from a Morton fan when we conceded. I just managed to restrain myself from asking if he could think of the only full-time team ever to lose to Spartans in the Scottish Cup...

    Yes indeedy!

Edited to add:- pleased with the result last night but I remember years ago being in the Queen's Park Cafe after Scotland beat the Faroes 5-1 and a guy was raging that Craig Brown should be sacked. The reason being, basically what I previously posted.

Now, I know that this post might inflame some strong feelings. Just don't shoot the messenger!

"Irrationality is cognition, thinking, talking or acting without inclusion of rationality. It is more specifically described as an action or opinion given through inadequate use of reason, or through emotional distress or cognitive deficiency. The term is used, usually pejoratively, to describe thinking and actions that are, or appear to be, less useful, or more illogical than other more rational alternatives."

One thing is for sure. There is a lot of irrantionality on the forum. I don't exclude myself!

We don't seem to be happy when the board act, we don't seem to be happy when the don't.

We don't seem to be happy when the management team try new ways of approaching recruitment.

We don't seem to be happy when they don't.

    Give it a break guys!

Let's be a little rational in our response to difficult times and the circumstances we are in.

Yes - It hurts, you hurt, I hurt, we all hurt.

Board, Management, Players, Staff and of course Fans!

Why not try a little positive thinking!

PS: We are not the only group of fans to show these reactions!

Not that this helps in any way.

    Keep the Heid.

You better watch, St.Ricky; you'll have all manner of "realists" on here telling you to f**k off for being a happy clapper.......

I heard today that the family didn't want a minute's silence before a possible one at Greyskull. Mind you the chap who mentioned it hates Sevco with a vengeance. emoji32.png

You're naively employing the strategy of "perspective". There is no room for such a thing on this website........

I always thought Trans was the album that soured the relationship with Geffen. A tribute to Kraftwerk dominated by keyboards most of the vocals were filtered through a Vocoder it prompted many a hippy to question the nature of the shit they were smoking. Although Geffen eventually apologized to Young I always got the impression it was through clenched teeth.

As with LR let's salute the awkward b'stards! :clapping

I actually quite like Trans but in general it seems that the whole of his output on Geffen was willfully bizarre; from rockabilly (Everybody's Rockin') through electronic (Trans) then country (Old Ways) Geffen tried to sue him for misrepresentation as an artist. Then he left them, went back to Reprise brought out Freedom followed by Ragged Glory and recaptured his magic. Geffen must've been scratching their heads wondering where the hell they went wrong.

    Just coincidence.

It really came from the Gerry Rafferty thread and whether you could say that some music was bad or if it was just a case of everybody's taste being different. 99% of the time it's just a matter of taste but every now and then an artist will go the extra mile and produce an album that is genuinely bad. In the case of MMM Lou Reed was looking to deliver one final album to RCA, he was going through one of his heavier phases of drug use and came up with the idea of a double album of feedback to piss the record company off and to answer the criticism that he'd gone a bit commercial. Reed had artistic control stipulated in his contract and RCA were obliged to release the album as delivered, although if I'd been them I'd just have passed and let Reed walk out of his contract one album short. MMM is bad music because the driving forces behind the record sounding the way it does were non-musical.

It' s my opinion that no-one could listen to the album all the way through, but having said that I salute Lou Reed for being the ornery son-of-a-bitch that he was! :clapping

It's rumoured that during the recording he left the recording studio and nipped out for a pint/a bite to eat/a quick hit before returning and overseeing proceedings. There's no two ways about it that Lou Reed did this to annoy people. And if the stories are to be believed he succeeded mightily.

Edited to add:- Neil Young also did a similar two-fingered salute to his record company when he brought out the album Everybody's Rockin'.

Now why would I mask that? I didn't know their photographs were on line but delighted to see them.

I met Martin, his kids and his brother before a recent home game that they attended.

A steward kindly took photographs of us in front of the ground.

Well done to the club for welcoming them.

Lovely kids. The young girl is the footballer in the family.

    The young lad plays Rugby.

Martin remains a very nice guy.

Cheers St. Ricky. Always good to see the St. Mirren family return from overseas. Good luck to you all and safe home to the wide brown land. ;-)

As an avid reader (now very recently also a contributor) of the B&WA Forum, I sometimes feel more than a little dejected at the vitriol poured out by some fans towards the club, the board and other fans of the Buddies. Now, I agree fully, that football stirs passions and that we, at times. take very different views. None more so than regarding the then "current" manager. Nothing wrong with that but personal vilification of the individuals seem to serve no useful purpose other than to further divide loyalties amongst fans and perhaps even players. This is to my mind, highly counter-productive to creating the Us (Club, Manager, Players, Fans) and Them (Our opposition).

I have liked some boards, admired the work done by some, taken issue with some decisions but have never doubted that those involved were interested in the same thing as I was - having a financially stable club which punches above its weight (in my mind this translates as finishing higher up the leagues than their average attendance figures suggest they should). Managers have different approaches but each tries to create a team and squad which will fulfill this objective and in doing so, win more often than they lose. Entertainment is for many of these perhaps an understandable secondary desire.

As fans, we can be guilty of being greedy and why not? Fans of every club would like to have it all, a board that they believe in, a manager they have confidence in and a team that is delivering results on the pitch in an entertaining fashion. Just ask fans of the old firm! Patience is a virtue they say but like common sense it is not common. I suffer too when the team loses. I suffer though when we seem to show a lack of respect for our own fans, players and managers of this fine club. One Town One Club. Our club, The Paisley Saint Mirren.

This is a professional game. We love it but the manager and players largely do what they do for money. It is their means of earning a living. For most their football loyalties lie elsewhere but when they pull on the Black and White they become my heros and I think yours too. So how can we act as Black and White heros?

We can turn up to watch games, make some noise, we can bring kids to the games, encourage friends to join us, We can buy scratch cards, buy our pies and soft drinks, Buy the kit.

We can show our passions noisily at matches to support players and manager. We can engage in the community activities of the club. More than ever, St Mirren are Our Team.

We can of course express opinions here on our own forum,

Lets support the team, lets support each other,Lets enjoy the good times, endure the bad and hope and plan for better.

Now you might take a different view. That's fine. Feel free to express them.

At the end of the title you missed the word 'happy". To which the answer is, variously, "f**k all", "suicide" or "getting rid of decent managers"......... #bunchofcunts :double

Hopefully there was an inspiring post match interview today.

He's really good at them right?

Perhaps he should make his punditary role at BT full time?

Then we won't inconvenience him in his quest to follow the new club around the country.

Didn't you think Danny Lennon was shite...........?
