  1. Not sure Gilmour is saying McPherson was fabricating. Just that he perhaps should have investigated before writing a piece that may not be factual. A good journalist might have done so. Though perhaps even he did.

It wasn't that kind of piece, though. The purpose wasn't to balance Murray's words with an alternative opinion, the article was about Murray's view of the club, and his alone, during his time at the helm. I dare say it was intentionally one-sided - that's how these pieces tend to work.

If the club, or indeed Mr Gilmour himself, wish to respond in kind, then that is their right. I suggest that may be a more mature option than sly digs at good journalists for doing nothing other than their job.

  2. Indeed.

Not sure why there is a specific dig at Graeme MacPherson in there, though.

Thought that completely uncalled for, it's not as though it was an opinion piece. Graeme is a journalist and has written an article based around an interview with a former manager. Just because he has scribed Murray's words doesn't mean he has made them up himself.

  3. If these back-to-back wins had been well deserved I could agree with you.

Both wins were well deserved. In both we were better than the opposition, and whilst not playing as well as we perhaps could, we won by two clear goals against Alloa and kept a clean sheet yesterday.

If you take these two games in isolation, then I could understand the accusation that people are getting ahead of themselves. However when you compare the Murray era to this new chapter under Rae, which has seen 4 league wins out of 6 and a significant improvement to performances and results, you can surely understand why fans are now cautiously optimistic about the season ahead?

  4. I might be in the minority but I really like Langfield, as a player and as a person. Of course he can make the odd error but at our level, that's probably par for the course. I think he's a very good 'keeper and obviously cares deeply for the club.

He gets added points for shouting "JESUS F**K REF!" (or something very similar) rather audibly after another baffling call from Charleston yesterday.

  5. Pretty chuffed with this signing. Went on a terrific run with Dundee last season before it ended as abruptly as it began. In terms of where we are, and given it is the slim-pickings window, I think we've done alright here.

I think Clarkson will be a good foil for Shankland, although it's not ideal in the long term that both are on loan. I reckon Clarkson is now a better goal-scoring option (from open play at least) than any other player at the club. It breaks my heart that it's no longer Thommo, but we need to be pragmatic about these things while remembering the good times he helped bring to the club.

  6. That was a difficult match to decipher as we were simply outclassed by a better side who were always expected to win the match comfortably. Until Rae gets the chance to properly mould the team he wants then we're always going to endure the same problems from the Murray era - the lack of any discernible width being a one continual problem.

We did look a lot better when we got the ball down and actually passed it around. Some nice passes and flicks took Hibs out of the game at times and it was a shame to see that undone by the preferred lump up to Shankland.

We do seem to be playing slightly, and I mean marginally, better however we still don't look close to scoring from open play. If we were creating lots of chances I'd be a lot more positive, but as Div mentions above the next few games are hugely important and will define our season for better or for worse.

I won't shed many tears for today except for not backing Hibs -1 with Stokes to score anytime. You could see it coming a mile off.

  7. Lol. What a comment cuddihy is never a right back. U for real

The guys a midfeilder playing at right back as our 2 right

    Backs are injured

    Sorry?

My point was that Cuddihy has been drafted into that position as emergency cover, but I'm sure he himself would admit that it is not his strongest position. In spite of this, he didn't let some negativity from the stands or some bad decisions affect his confidence and he gradually improved as the game wore on. I think this should be applauded.

Thanks for endorsing my point, though.

  8. Just in, roadworks on Forth Bridge were horrendous, but who cares; my wee girl is finally celebrating seeing her first Saints victory and what a goal to win it.

Great 3 points, but sitting back 2nd half(again) was hard to watch. Langfield was superb for us today and good to see wee McMullan back running at defences.

Murray still has to sort our shape/tactics for our next few games, but a wins a win. First beer of the night tasting good.

I was stuck in it as well, doesn't feel as bad after a victory!

Still a long way from the finished article today I thought. A wonder goal aside, we didn't look like a commanding side who have aspirations of finishing in the top half of the table. Murray still looks genuinely clueless from a tactical aspect. Instead of opting for ball retention in the Livingston half and creating chances to build on a lead, he camps us out on the edge of our own box. This invited wave after wave of Livi pressure and the hopeless punts up the park did nothing but continue the cycle.

More often than not, we would get nothing from that game, and you could make the argument that we didn't deserve all three points. We got very, very lucky today and we still have a long way to go to look like genuine play-off contenders.

A bit of an Elvis type post there but I'm not going to get carried away over a scraped 1-0 win over Livingston. The words "crack" and "paper" spring to mind, although I'm delighted with the win. Desperately needed as well.

  9. Kenny McLean and John McGinn offering thinly veiled support towards each arse cheek. They were just a bit smarter about it, rather than posting "GOOD LUCK RANGERS!!1" accompanied with a photo bedecked in the club that died's colours. I don't think he's deliberately been disrespectful, or that it directly impacts on his performance in a Saints shirt.

I just think he's thick as f**k and doesn't understand the full ramifications of what such a post could cause.

  10. Decent effort turning up early and singing. Had the game not been a horror show then there might have been more singing, but a decent start nonetheless.

Just a wee tuppenceworth though - I wouldn't adopt a name. I wouldn't try and make you guys seem separate from other Saints fans as people will be less likely to join in, which I assume is the point of having it next to the ST seats. As soon as a group becomes self-serving and sees themselves as better supporters with their own agenda who go to war with their own club (see the Green Brigade) then it's game over.

Any word of whether this will be a long term thing? I think the section will grow in time if supported by fans and the board. Best of luck guys.

  11. Wylde's corner lol.gif

I'm delighted that made the highlights, I was pissing myself laughing at the time. Probably the worst corner I've ever seen, certainly live anyway.

We really are getting the breaks lately and not before time. At the time I thought Graham's goal was offside as he was beyond the defender, but didn't consider that he could have been behind Lappin when the ball was played. I think a draw would have been more than fair, but this team just seems to have found a drive and determination to go for the win. It's slightly reminiscent of the 99/00 season where a draw just wasn't enough, and I really admire that in what is still a very young and inexperienced side.

I go to every game and can never be accused of being a gloryhunter, but going to the games at the beginning of the season was a chore. Only recently have I started to look forward going on a Saturday and there was a real togetherness in the support yesterday. Loving that winning feeling this morning I must say.

Question: is that the first time Lappin has come up against us since leaving or did he play against us for Motherwell? There didn't seem to be any acknowledgement between him and the fans, positive or otherwise.

  12. So this has been decided two and a half weeks before the game. 18 days' notice. That is completely and utterly unnacceptable, tinged with a complete apathy and contempt for the fans.

There will be many who have already booked trains (myself included), buses, overnight accommodation to make the game. Some sorry excuse for an explanation has been posted on the Aberdeen official site, citing fixture congestion as a prime factor, before thanking St Mirren for agreeing to the fixture switch. Congested fixtures for which side may I ask? We may have three games in two weeks but that's nothing new.

What seems to have happened here is that Aberdeen have gotten ahead of themselves, thinking "we're going to advance in Europe, on top of all the other diddy Premiership games we're forced to play", so have used whatever imaginary weight they think they carry to get the game moved. To the benefit of Scottish football, of course.

More to the point, why have we accepted? What better than playing a tired Aberdeen side with their mind on other things, at a venue at which we have a notoriously poor record. But no, let's wait until it best suits Aberdeen. We'll play them midweek, at the same ticket prices, which will give the hosts the perfect opportunity to roll us over 2-0.

All this forced by a bully of a Chairman who has never given a second thought to the fortunes of other Scottish clubs.

This whole charade has been one enormous two fingers to the fans who have had the sheer audacity to try and save money on what is an already expensive day out. Money which they have now lost for good. Shameful.

Come on St Mirren, we're listening.

  13. Glasgow-based tabloid rag needs readers, readers are gullible sycophantic Old Firm fan boys who don't pay attention to life outside of the pathetic divide, tabloid rag links former OF bigot to generic Premiership club who may/may not need manager.

BOOM. West coast tabloid journalism folks.
