  1. Do not know about this one but not all Churches meet on a Sunday morning.

And for those that mentioned religion and football don't mix there may be an element of truth in that. Most bigots I know do not go to Church so no problem!

We should welcome all groups that want to use the stadium and respect people's beliefs.

Absolutely. The difference with us and religion in the Old Firm is that we don't favour any religion. The bigots do, and we should treat them just as any other community interest wishing to use our facilities. All are welcome. Except Nazis/old firm agendas. They are not.

  2. Just signed up. I like (what seems like the minority) others are excited about the project, and the possible advantages that will help the club and therefore the product on the park. Yes there are one or two points that I am still sceptical over, but I'm going to wait until this booklet comes out and any possible meetings before giving it the headless chicken act.

  3. If you go onto Dragon's Den, they'll all sit there and scrutinse your business plan before offering you money. If your business fails, the investor's don't get any money back, which is why they want to be as sure as they can be that it doesn't fail. Same idea. Sort of.

A struggling SPL club, dwindling fans, poor club PR....I'm out.

  4. If it all goes tits up then what happens to the shares in the club that it owns? Does a receiver come in and try and save the CIC and sell it and controlling interest in the club to a Hugh Scott type chancer? If this is such a great idea why have Dundee been told to stay well clear of doing the same when they seem to be able to raise more money for the club than we do?

The Dundee situation is very much different to ours. Probably the main difference being they are in administration and we are financially stable currently. Dundee would need a bit of recovery time to get the club back out of admin and get the club running normally again and functioning as a going concern before any sort of scheme could even be discussed.

I like a lot of supporters are still in the dark over certain issues, but remember the deal isn't completely finalised yet. We have no choice but to trust those in the know. I'm sure they wouldn't spend this amount of time making sure it's viable if it was as high a risk as some on here are making out. They have a financial executive plus someone who cares deeply about the club (Fitzy) so let's just give it a chance. Interesting developments, hopefully this is a start of a positive new chapter for the club. :)

  5. Although I really am finding it hard to get the just of CIC in it's finer detail I understand Clyde are now a CIC club along with Stenhousemuir. There are also a lot of small clubs down south including Ruby clubs run this way.

St Mirren will be the largest club if the CIC goes through.

Firstly it's wonderful to see an intelligent, informative thread on here. Rather than just "Lennon's a dick ya fud" we're seeing more and more of.

I'm not going to pretend I know the whole facts surrounding business, and all the various types of interactions involved. But at first glance it does appear to be a bit of a gamble. As you have touched on LS, we will be the biggest scottish club to have tried this. Something just doesn't sit right with me that even financially stable clubs like St Johnstone similar to our size haven't seen this as a valid option. Then the CIC require community input. I'm just sceptical that despite a very large town and surrounding area, no one will really care about St Mirren. If you want evidence just look at our attendences in a town of 70,000. But as others have rightly said, I think we should wait on official info from the club before seeing if this is the correct road to go down.

Just a question though regarding Clyde. Did they attempt the CIC before the club hit the skids or after to regain a more stable financial footing?

  6. I tried to register twice. The first time was with a Hotmail account and they didn't accept Hotmail addresses. I then set up a gmail account and tried to register again. They didn't accept gmail accounts either. It's fine, I didn't want to join their stupid forum anyway :(

  7. We have been done. Simple as that. Harte has talks with Gus in Paisley, agent lets slip to press hence raising Harte's profile. More press coverage when he "agrees to sign". He gets a bigger offer from someone else and changes his mind. Family reasons? Surely he would've discussed it with his family BEFORE going for talks. Was he really prepared to sign while his family were down south? Was he f**k.

We have been made to look like absolute mugs, but what are we to expect from a man like Willie McKay. Whatever happened to a Gentleman's agreement? I'm guessing it's worthless nowadays. It's a right blow ahead of tomorrow's game, but we have to forget about it and move on.

  8. If he played in an earlier round of the FA Cup does this effect his eligibility in other domestic cup competitions? I'm sure there's also a rule about getting a player's registration in before a cut off point for cup ties. Cillian Sheridan is able to play for Motherwell so hoping Harte could at least be considered for selection?

I don't see how it would be a problem, Steven Thompson played in the FA cup for Brighton against...Hartlepool was it? And he was allowed to play against Brechin. However this piece of uncertainty was what lead to a Brechin fan going on the wind up saying we were going to get kicked out of the competition

Ian Harte will be available for selection on Saturday.

  9. Over the moon at this signing. And the first thing that came to mind was his free kick abilities. IIRC he was still banging them in in Spain, too. A wee bit worried when I heard he'd left Blackpool which indicates a declining career however I'm surprised he's only still 31. I wish him all the best in Paisley and let's hope we can keep him beyond the end of the season if he does the business.

Erm, one little question though; what's gonna happen to Franco?

  10. Is it just me or do the lights not look that bright from a distance, ie glowing in the sky, but seem to give a fantastic light at pitch level?

Nope not just you. I could see the Love St floodlights from my kitchen window and they were slightly blinding, even from that distance. But the new floodlights (differently positioned so i can see all 4...looks very strange), are a sort of green tinge and certainly aren't as bright as the love st ones from a distance. This surprised me as someone told me they were 1 and a half times the lux of the LS ones.

  11. I think it's hillarious, really. Celtic are paying all that advertising money, only to advertise on a supporters' site of ANOTHER CLUB, who's fans have absolutely no interest or desire to purchase the advertised product. Hence, the dirty tihmms have shot themselves in the foot with this one, really. Hehe.

  12. Got my copy yesterday and was so eager to see it I watched it well into the early hours after getting home from work. Brilliant stuff is all I can say really. I had my doubts when people were saying it was mainly fans talking, but that for me was great to watch. Thanks for including the Motherwell goals and the Rangers goal - I'll have that to watch again and again for years to come. A wee lump in my throat at the Motherwell goals. Outstanding stuff :)

I really enjoyed the imput from Gus, Andy, John and Shuggie too. I really appreciated what Andy had to say regarding the fans, as, well, he allegedly tried to thump one during a reserve game. That was really nice to see :) Also enjoyed Fergie's imput too. All in all, a tremendous effort guys

Also, how many of those interviewed are posters on here? I think it'd be quite interesting to put a face to a username.

  14. Must be a good commercial deal that these lot offer the clubs - as every English club worth their salt has a Premium TV site.

I've mixed feelings about it. The new site is a bit cleaner and will contain more stuff once finished - but it does lose the individuality of the previous site - and fair play to the folk who maintain and run that site as they do a f**king good job with no thanks from anyone.

    Here Here div :)

not sure about this site. they've got the squad all jumbled
