  1. Sorry, what?

Rae has assisted Paul Ince, Paul Ince, Paul Ince, and then finally Alex McLeish.

At MK Dons Ince and Rae took a side that missed out on automatic promotion in League One under Robert Di Matteo by just 2 points, and within a year they'd taken them to the obscurity of 12th in League One some 20 points off a play off spot and 26 points off automatic promotion.

At Notts Couty they took over a side that had been promoted from League Two the year before. County had struggled in the new league In October 2010 Ince was appointed as manager and he took Rae with him. They both left the club in April have lost five successive league matches - the start of a run that saw Notts County suffer 9 straight defeats. Martin Allen was appointed and then rescued the club from relegation. They finished 19th that season.

Next stop was Blackpool. in 2012-13. Blackpool had just been relegated from the Premiership under Ian Holloway. Hollaway started the new season as boss and Blackpool won all of their opening matches right through to September 15th when they finally dropped a point to Burnley. Blackpool then went on the slide with four defeats and two draws in the next 7 matches. Holloway left and was replaced by Michael Appleton. He stayed until January 11th when he was appointed manager of Blackburn Rovers after going 8 matches undefeated. Then Ince and Rae came in.They didn't win a single game until March 9th. In total Ince was to win just four matches that season and that time Blackpool suffered their biggest defeat in recent memory at that time losing 6-1 to Gus Poyets Brighton side. In 2013 Blackpool started promisingly but from September 17th through to their sacking on the 21st of January they won only 2 league matches. They were replaced by Barry Ferguson and Blackpool finished the season in 19th place.

Now Alex Rae did not to bad at Dundee so I'm not saying he'll be a shit appointment. But please don't get the idea he's got some kind of great record as an assistant.

So to clarify, is that better or worse than Stephen Kenny's record?
  2. I think we as a support need to drop the obsession with players/managers being Old Firm fans.

Like it or not they're the two biggest clubs in the country and to expect a proportion of people involved in Scottish football not to have some affiliation to either of them is pretty naive.

I could give a feck who manages or plays for us ultimately if they put together a decent squad of players and get us winning games.

  3. Football is seasonal and the income is too. Hence the loans, which have been repaid.

Our crowds are above average for the division and our player budget is too. Any new manager will have the tools to make us competitive in the top half of this league next season at his disposal.

Oh well, everything will be ok then.
  4. Fecked = spend what we bring in and have some of the best facilities in Scotland?

What tools do you want the manager to have?

If directors are having to loan the club money to get by the cash flow is becoming an issue, our crowds are dwindling so we're bringing less in.

By tools though I wasn't referring to our facilities, I was referring to cash to bring in decent quality of player.

  5. To get me to start attending home games again, and perhaps address many others concerns the board need to identify the right person and make a permanent appointment. If they try to repeat the folly of giving Tealzo a contract till the end of the season it sends out the message they have written another season off, are not up for the fight of avoiding relegation and dont want to see us climbing this f**king league!

Pick someone, and give them the tools and support to do the job, if you dont know who to pick ask us!

I think this appointment will be as underwhelming as Teale.

Anyone who is interviewed will be told that they won't get the tools to do the job.

Bottom line, we're fecked till someone takes over the club.

  6. I remember wee Anxious getting asked if we were punching above our weight a few years ago in the Premier league and he said we were but then on to say how the Club had basically a first division team , which was true at that time . However , even when we had the good players a couple of years ago , we still seemed to struggle. .

The season we had Thommo, Teale, Wee Nige, Tess etc was our best chance of achieving something in the league and we still couldn't.

Fast forward to now, all have gone bar Thommo who is pretty much done.

I think it'll be a good few years before we can challenge for promotion, until the club is sold I think we'll be a bottom half Championship club.

  7. We must appoint the correct man this time around, absolutely no margin for error. We are in the shit big time and relegation this season would have catastrophic affect.

I think we'll go for a steady the ship type older manager who'll come in and have us playing very defensive football and shitfest it till the end of the season to avoid relegation.

It won't be pretty but it's what we need.

  8. Names not on the betting list, but would be solid appointments...

    McKinnon - Raith

    McCall - Ayr

    Johnston - Dunfermline

All three actually achieving in management, so I guess that puts them out of contention as far as our board are concerned?

More importantly all would require compensation.
  9. An ex Rangers player with a short fuse ,surname Ferguson, in his first management job , surely not ! bye1.gif

I listened to his(Ian's) interview on Sportsound last week and he came across very well.

I think he'd be a gamble though and too big a gamble at this stage.

We need to be realistic though, we're an even less attractive option for prospective managers than we were when Murray was appointed.

  10. Looks like Mehmet has turned into some player since he left us.

I certainly don't remember him doing anything to prompt quite such a response as this.

I know, as when he played for us I actually still went to all our games and gave a feck.

Or maybe this is how far we've sunk that we're getting excited about the potential return of a guy who was almost good a few years back.

  11. Lennon's time was up, that's for sure.

Similar to Gus before him although I'd argue he probably stayed one season too long.

I thought Murray was a reasonable appointment but obviously it's been a total disaster, there'll be someone out there who could turn this round but it sure as hell isn't someone who has managed us before.

With the obvious exception of Sir Alex.

  12. It was a massive result for us, however listening to radio Scotland we gave away a stupid penalty which luckily Buchanan missed, scored against the run of play and were battered by the team bottom of the league.

Even the commentator was questioning players positioning. He could nt believe Mallan was being played wide right. Surely when pundits pick up on these issues the manager must be aware of them.

It was Allan Preston and his opinion isn't one I'd be paying attention to.
