  1. We have offered him a contract I'm sure, months ago. it will surely have had a relegation clause in it? Same with Naismith's and Kelly's?

It is a crazy rule/law though.

I can see John waiting throughout the summer for a offer, teams will be put off by the development fee forcing him to sign for us then we give him away for pennies in the next January transfer window bangin.gif

Sounds depressingly familiar, although I have to agree I can see another McLean scenario arising.
  2. Did he not come from the army? Played a bit under Hendrie, think we wanted to sign him for another season, but he opted to go south. We got promoted and he got forgotten about!

Aye the squaddie as he was affectionately known, I'm sure there was a story at the time that the army fixed him up with a job at the recruitment office in addition to playing for us.
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32312799

Another BBC article on our season.

It's fair enough as it goes, but I don't think any of us expect the club to spend money it doesn't have. We're all well used to that, have accepted that for decades and most of us agree with that policy.

What the article doesn't reflect is the vast amount of money (for a club of our size) wasted on our shambolic player recruitment over the past couple of years, including the amount of money used to pay off players in the last 2 January transfer windows.

If we were being relegated simply because Ross Co, Motherwell and others were spunking away money like nobodies business (like in season 2000/01), I could accept that. But we're not and I think we're being relegated because of poor managerial and player recruitment over a number of recent years, and I have more problems accepting that.

Yeah, while the article is probably news to non Saints, it's nothing we haven't known for years.

Obviously we'll never know how much money was wasted on paying off Imrie, Harkins, Grainger, Caldwell, Marwood, feel free to complete the list.

I'd wager the money wasted would have gone some way to helping us get Scott McDonald in January or one of Tommy's targets from his infamous piece of paper.

  4. That's my concern. They should but will they?

They have to, they'd be playing a dangerous game if they don't.

Going into next season with Teale in charge(or any other current employee of the club for that matter)would have a massive implication on season ticket sales.

If Gilmour thinks the current criticism of the board is unfair...

  5. The BOD are in the main St Mirren fans.

They don't appear to give a flying f**k about the fortunes of the club this season, or indeed last.

We are going down with a whimper, as opposed to a fight.

Why should the fans be overly concerned when those in charge of the club aren't?

I've seen us relegated from top flight before, I've seen worse things happen. Meh...

Sadly for the first time in my 30 odd years supporting St Mirren that's how I feel.

Why should I juggle things in my personal life such as getting babysitters, swapping shifts at work(which I've regularly done before)and ultimately spending money to go and watch the team when I feel that the BOD don't give a shit and sadly it's beginning to look like the players are resigned to the inevitable.

  6. McGinn would do well to learn from Kenny, i.e if you want a move play out of your skin every week and get noticed.

For whatever reason he's been poor this season, although there's no doubting he's got talent.

If we go down, he'll be away, probably best for both parties.

  7. It's always been the way. How many Scotland squads was Campbell Money in, yet he never got on the park once?

It's still going on, John Fleck was in a Scotland squad after 2 or 3 games a few years ago, and that Calum MacGregor from Sellic was in a squad earlier this season after a couple of decent games in Europe.

It's a lot of pish, always has been, always will be.

Money was very unlucky to be backup when we had good keepers like Leighton and Goram.

Unfortunately for Dibble, when he retired there was pish like Nicky Walker getting caps.

  8. In truth the house analagy doesn't add up. If you're selling a house, of course you want to get top dollar - because you'll need to buy another house, unless you plan to live under a rock.

If you're selling something with no intention or need to buy another one, and you can't get rid... Maybe you should look at the price you're asking.

Ok obviously the house analogy doesn't tie in 100% because a football club isn't a house, that's why it's an analogy

My point is, if after 5 years something is still for sale there's a chance it's overpriced.

  9. Oh FFS - seriously? Shat on? Because he chose another employer from Saints?

    Melodrama at its finest. lol.gif

Thinking back to when he 'shat' on us, Lennon foolishly blabbed to anyone that would listen that we'd offered him a contract.

All Gow did was take a better deal with Motherwell.

It signalled the end of Danny's diary on the official site.
