    Question for the chairman?

how is signing a diving dud from the bottom of the championship, who rarely starts. in line with your stated intention that all signings now should be players of premiership calibre..?

No ones biting, everyone seems fairly positive

time to call it a day on this wee crusade

  2. We don't need a stand in striker... we need one who will improve us and be part of the future - not the short term..

As it stands we don't really need another striker if everyone stays fit and avoids suspension. The advantage of getting in someone better now , as well as adding something better,  is that they will be part of the Championship winning squad which transitions to the Premiership. So they will be in, up to speed and part of the foundations for next season..

Sorry but Dobbie (aged 35) is not one for the future and we don't have the same short term needs as Celtic.. we need to be building for the next level up or saving our money for then

    Woosh

Think he means Hibs (wasn’t Celtic) should go for him, hence weakening Queens for Saturday

  3. I'd be prepared to bet that Quitongo will never, ever score 20goals in a season......I live in Inverclyde in amongst a lot of Morton fans and even they don't rate him all that highly. Decent athlete and quick but made of glass and generally a poor finisher, albeit it with the arrogance of Ronaldo, is the general consensus in these parts!!

Quitongo has scored 4 league goals in 30 games in his career

McShane this year alone has 5 in 22 league games

    Lewis 9 in 22

    Cammy 8 in 21

    Danny Mullen 4 in 17

Super Gav has 10 in 21

Quitongo is quick and strong but that’s about it, if we want someone like that send Allan McManus round all the gyms in the area and he will find plenty who are strong, quick and can run about with little end product.
  4. Want to take me on in a bet? Loser buys the coffees, throw in a KitKat (2 fingers only, times are tough...) I predict Scott McDonald at United, Rory Loy at Falkirk, and John Baird at ICT will all score more league goals than anyone at St Mirren. If any St Mirren player scores more than any one of those three - you win.

Don’t think any of us would have predicted we had a striker that would score more than those 3 mentioned above..combined!

Funny to look back and see quite a few (myself included) thought we would struggle for goals this year!!

  5. They made their sub contractors wait 3 months for their money and then when they were due to pay they demanded a discount , then they blamed the banks for not supporting the small companies . .and meantime they were getting fortunes off the government. .

It was 120 days, and they offered an ‘express payment’ which was either 60 or 90 days ( I don’t know which to be honest) for a small fee of course...

Absolutely atrocious practice and I can’t believe they got away with it unfortunately the smaller contractors need the work and couldn’t tell them to ram it.

I worked for them about 10 years ago when they took over McAlpines and they were a horrible company then
  6. A really tough one, no real failures at all this season

Cammy Smith would maybe edge it for me, look how dreadful we were v Dumbarton in the game he didn’t play, shows how key he is to the way we play

Lewis Morgan, Gav Reilly and Sammy all breathing down his neck.....

Then we have McGinn, Baird, Davis. Magennis coming onto a game, Eck gives an 8/10 every week he plays....

Genuinely don’t think there is a stand out option...and for all the good reasons

  7. Putting it out there, quality striker on loan from parent club looking to settle down with one team...
Connor Sammon on loan at thistle from hertz. With thistle looking like relegation candidates, and our tie up with Hertz via L Smith, Reilly etc... and having the money to pay him, shouldnt we be setting our stall out and bringing in proven Premiership players ahead of 'The Boys Are Back in Town" celebrations at season end.
c'mon Ross bring in a beast to work with Reilly.

Think we have different opinions on what Quality means

31 year old striker Connor Sammon has 78 career......
  8. If McGinn does go to Celtic the big danger to our chunk of the transfer fee will be if there's some sort of swap involved (i.e. Liam Henderson going to Hibs).
This would give Hibs the opportunity to agree to inflate the value of the incoming player in order to reduce what we would then be due for McGinn.
Similar to what we did with Clyde when we signed O'Donnell / Malone and twisted the figures so that one of them cost £2k and the other £28k. If I remember correctly!

    That’s not the same though.

We done that to help Clyde out (supposedly) but it was because we were signing two players from one team

It would only work if Celtic are signing two Hibs player

If they inflate Henderson’s ‘value’ then it’s less cash going into Hibs bank....

If they bring in £3.5m but tel us it was only £2m then surely that’s fraud?
  9. Surprised that anyone has McShane pinned as a dud. I'd argue that he's been a very good signing. OK he's had the odd stinker but definitely far more good performances than poor ones.

This, I’ve been very impressed with McShane. Find it incredible anyone would label him a dud.

As much as I’m a fan of McGinn I would argue McShane has had more better games than him this season....
