  1. Wish him all the best and seems like a really good guy but just don't think we'll miss him on the pitch, as others have said he was never consistent enough and genuinely can't remember too many games he was outstanding in....probably in the minority here but prefer McAusland and McGregor as a pairing than Mair and McGregor

In saying that we do need a new partner for McGregor with McAusland as back up IMO! Here's hoping we have a signing in the pipeline...

Not too fussed if he plays next week either, he's quite slow and not the strongest so think we can exploit this.

  2. I think everyone agrees that there will come a time when Lee Mair or any football player will have to move on from any club. What is up for debate is whether that time is now for Mair at St Mirren. Unfortunately for Mair in the last 12 months the contract which rewarded him well financially (by our standards) and meant that if he played regularly in the first team then he automatically got an extension on the same terms has landed him with hassle as his contract nears its end. If St Mirren take the view that they don't want to extend his contract into next season or continue to have him as one of the best paid paid players at the club then the only way to do this is to drop him from the first team so he never hits his quota of games entitling him to a new contract.

He is 33 at the minute and probably a similarish standard to McGregor and McAusland but I think it is OK for St Mirren as a club to have decided that as he turns 34 they no longer see him as a first pick defender or want to continue to have him as one of the high earners at the club when he isn't seen as an automatic pick for the starting XI. And if that is the decision the club have reached then they are Mair are stuck in the position we have now - if they don't want to have Mair on his current terms beyond this summer then they need to drop him for most of this season so he doesn't get enough games for his contract extension clause to kick in for another season.

Do we know if thats the case this season? If that is the case then it's not Danny that deserves criticism but whoever agreed to this type of contract IMO

Didi Vanzy not have a similar type of deal, I would hope they learn their lesson from this type of deal and do not give players these type of deals moving forward.

  3. Poor player and hope the twitter rumours are true, hope he moves on and frees up a decent wage!

Paul Mcgowan works his nuts off in a game of football, it doesn't always come off for him but his movement off the ball and work rate is superb. Gary Harkins could do with watching him a bit to see what is involved in being in a play maker....

  4. Agree with a lot of people here in that I just don't think Danny gets the best out of the squad we have.

Again I thought the subs today were poor and I accept I know sod all about the team day in day out but why bring on Reilly and Harkins late on when we could have got at least a point today if we had closed up a bit

  5. You can make an argument for Vanzy in Goodwins role when he is not there but both together is a non starter, proved today.

Correct, just don't think we needed 2 holding midfielders...we missed a central midfielder supporting the front 2 2nd half.

I guess away from home against a top six side it may be something DL would look at but didn't think it worked at all today

  6. Still tend to think Mair must have had some sort of injury and couldn't play, as if he didn't and that was just Danny tinkering then he really made an erse of it!

Even if that was the case there were better options IMO, Naismith into CB and vanzy to RB as others have said and that part of the sub just feels like Danny tinkering & ballsing it up....the sub he made disrupted the whole midfield and we never got going in the 2nd half

I was also baffled by the McGowan sub, he hadn't been brilliant by any stretch but he works so hard and creates space for others, Newton had a poor 2nd half & thought him or Goodwin were the one to be subbed...

Still a point on the board and down to Killy for a good day out and hopefully 3 points...

  7. if he played well - why call him van panic, just another moan for moans sake guy are you ? we won 4 feckin 1 today. you moaners really get on my wick

Oh dear calm down! Not moaning at all, see my other posts regarding today's game. Thought we were excellent, thoroughly enjoyed the game and delighted with every single players performance!

I'm not vansys biggest fan at right back but thought he did really well today and think he could be a pretty good back up for our captain in the holding role...
