  1. On the note of personal abuse, does anyone know anything about this allegation below?

  2. You want the manager to go cap in hand to the very player he told to leave as he wasn't part of his plans?

Do you think maybe any respect Lennon has, would be lost in that one moment?

It would be ironic if you're all calling for Mair to return and it turned out that it's Mair himself who was responsible for any unreset in the dressing room using his position as a senior head in the dressing room to undermine the manager at every turn, who told him to leave the club.

    Whit?

  3. He absolutely, undoubtedly is.

In 50 years time, when we're all either gone or so old we don't know what day of the week it is, people, including ourselves, won't give two hoots about one league win in 2013, they will however, forever know and be able to fondly recall the manager's name who led us to our first major trophy in 26 years.

Regardless of what transpires in the coming days and weeks, Danny Lennon is, and forever will be a St. Mirren legend. The fact that any St. Mirren fan is attempting to dispute that is both ridiculous and slightly cringeworthy that they are so blinded by their disregard for the man.

All the people who go on (some even MOANING, FFS) about the cup win saving his job, you're f**king right it did. He won a national trophy, if anything deserved (and perhaps still does) a stay of execution, it was that.

This season's mediocrity, in years to come will blend into next season, the season after that etc, just as most of the early 2000s did and the mid-late 90s before that. 2012/13 will stay with us forever though. That doesn't happen very often.

Sometimes, things come to an end, and I think Danny's time with us is coming to an end just now. Perhaps it's not a bad thing not to stay too long and tarnish a reputation, I don't know. What I do know is though, that I salute the guy, regardless of what happens in the near future. He'll always be a legend in my eyes.

He should be a legend in EVERY Bud's eyes. Every single one of us.

    Legend police?

This is just another example of the term being overused.

  4. With people like Somner9 around I'm glad the fan ownership model failed. I'm now fairly certain that it would have ended up a complete and utter disaster. The disater wouldn't have been due to Richard's input, but despite Richard's it. Atitude's and opinions like Somner's would have turned the place toxic within 12 months IMO.

Richard can walk away from SMFC with is head held high.

  5. Wonder how much it would cost to convert say one section of the West Stand into a "Safe Standing" area like the one described here;

Would have a big positive impact on the atmosphere at the stadium IMO.

Wouldn't have a problem with this provided any required modifications to the stadium are entirely covered by an increase in ticket prices for such an area.

  6. As I already said as I work in this area I cannot comment on individual incidents.

I am a passionate football fan who probably says things at times that are out of order and try to police games as a football fan as well as a police officer as I was a fan a hell of a long time before I was a police officer.

Was only trying to clear up a couple of technical points.

Although I can assure you far more OF fans are arrested under these laws than non OF fans despite what you may think.

As an officer of the law your input here is useful. Thanks for the initial post.

I appreciate you can't comment on specific incidents so let's take this into the hypothetical world. Imagine a footballing environment (i.e. a situation covered by the new legislation), how should police officers act after being made aware of an individual shouting "Think you're a hard man, Jasper, eh? You're just a fcuking fanny" in an offensive and aggressive manner? Now consider the impact that audio and video evidence of this incident would have on securing a conviction - imagine there was such evidence, do you not think there would be a god chance the PF would persue such a case?

In this hypothetical situation, in your opinion, should the individual be charged under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012? If not, hypothetically, could you explain why not?

  7. Spiers is brilliant to read and listen to. I don't always agree with what he says but he always takes a position and justifies it, that is his job. He doesn't claim to be perfect and is happy to hold his hands up when he makes a tit of himself.

By no means perfect but certainly one of our better and more interesting journalists.
