  1. Lloyds bank have a new advert featuring the song "We've Only Just Begun" which was a hit for The Carpenters 50 years ago, originally however the song was part of an advert for a bank in California.
I was reluctant to post this as it "outs" me as a Carpenters fan but what the hell, I say they rock! [emoji450]:headbang

Brings back memories....... it was on the playlist of my wedding video (first time around)
PS. It was the ex that liked that song, just so we’re clear.
  2. First day off work and I'm celebrating with a coupla slice sausage sandwiches (plain bread - liberated from work yesterday) with tomato sauce washed down with a cuppa strong coffee no sugar and just a little milk.
I'm watching Dr. Zhivago the first of a series of classic fillums BBC4 are showing on Thursday night's for the duration of the pandemic.
The only thing better than breakfast is watching the ever beautiful Julie Christie!

You were doing well there until you mentioned tomato sauce........ it’s got to be Broon sauce. Did you have a big ootsider? Best part of a plain loaf.
  3. Why don't we just copy what the Germans do on everything and we should be ok. Covid, manufacturing, debt management, technical apprenticeships, track and trace, low cost football entry etc etc. Seems like a plan to me

    Invade Poland [emoji1200]
  4. Party because of the virus and my age, I have been offered the flu jag, and the address I have to go to is St Mirren Park, Greenlaw Rd Paisley [emoji56] Likely be the nearest I will get to the pitch this season [emoji852]

You’ll probably still get more time on the pitch than Cammy McPherson.
  5. Didn't you read the news!!!!! You shouldn't have been at his house at all.
You are putting LIVES AT RISK.
Did I strike the right tone of overblown panic there?

I was just about to call the local constabulary on him there. [emoji87]
  6. My prediction is that wee nippy will close pubs and restaurants, ban any mixing with other households, introduce a travel limit and tell people to work from home. She always has to go that bit further.

I have to agree with you on that. I wouldn’t be surprised if she stopped the football for two weeks and closed the schools as well.
  7. You seem to be either looking to make this personal or asking for validation that your views are acceptable. It's not the first time you've posted in that vein. You shouldn't do that. Your views are your views and I couldn't care less about them other than how you debate with people. You'll soon know if people on here think you are being a dick. They'll either attack you or completely ignore you. [emoji3]

In no way was I having a personal pop at you.
My point was the reference to “alt right” comment.
To me it’s a term (along with “racist and “nazi”) that are being flung around like confetti.

What have I said that’s contentious?
If people “attack” my views, that says more about them than me does it not? If someone wants to engage in dialogue/debate on my views then I’m all for it.
  8. I think there's two points to consider.
Firstly, constantly spamming the forum with alt-right wing videos under several aliases is not "debating" or "presenting both sides" of an argument. It's blatant trolling for responses by a guy who seems to have nothing better to do with his time.
Secondly, deliberately annoying and pissing off people so that they stop coming back to the forum seems a decent reason for restricting their posting.
I don't like the sinbin either but if certain people want to behave like total arseholes all the time without a break, what else would you suggest?

I don’t know what the answer is to be honest.

You mention the “alt right”, what is your understanding of that term?

there are certain political commentators that I agree with WRT COVID, BLM, independence etc that some deem on here class as alt right. What does that make me?

There are the likes of George Galloway with his oratory skills and IMO knowledge on a great many issues. I agree with a lot of his points of view, but have a completely opposite view on others, I’d say he’s mainly on the left.

I’m all for immigration, but legally. I don’t support the people trafficking situation we see daily from across the channel.

I don’t support the BLM movement but the actual term is completely different..... all lives matter IMO, black, white, brown........ doesn’t matter to me. I don’t need to made to feel guilty of events that happened hundreds of years ago that I had nothing to do with.

COVID. For me the numbers just don’t add up.
We no longer hear about the breakdown of COVID deaths, as in age, underlying conditions etc....... we’re just given a figure.

Independence. I was a yes voter last time around, but under this current government....... I’m not convinced.

Political correctness. We’re at a stage where people can’t say what they think/believe without hurting someone’s feelings........ how many genders do we have now........ a lot more than the Saints have points.
Grooming gangs, a certain individual has been raising awareness (whether you like him or not) for years but has been hounded by the media for it. Now the media are paying attention to this on a regular basis.
The facts don’t care about feelings.

So if my views make me a racist “alt right” then so be it. My understanding of that term is along the lines of far right white supremacy, anti Jewish, anti feminist and anti everything that’s not white...... I of which am neither.

  9. Probably in the same sort of way it worked when Czechoslovakia split into two separate countries. It's not as if it is a new phenomenon.

I’m not really interested in Czechoslovakia, I’m interested in finding out how Scotland are going to fair....... or not as the case may be.
  10. I don’t really know what the rules are for the forum around sinbin etc, with regards to Shull it may be about the multiple aliases he uses and the constant stream of YouTube and bittube stuff he uploads. There is never much debating or discussion just videos!!

Agreed. However, some of his videos are relevant in the discussion IMO with regards to BLM. A few of the videos he’s posted were of black folk condemning the riots, the whole systemic racism thing, as these black folks in the videos are giving a different slant on the narrative being pushed via various MSM outlets. Whether individuals want to watch is up to them. Personally, I always try to look at both sides of the debate and I’ll form my own opinions, and I’m not saying that you or others don’t do likewise. I’m just talking about myself.
  11. Shulls latest reincarnation (DF Riley) purged again [emoji23]

IMO, unless someone is making threats to another forum member or constantly using foul or abusive language, then I don’t see why Shull, Shetland, Faraway or anyone else should be put in the sin bin or binned completely if all they are doing is disagreeing with others opinions.
I’ve disagreed with a few chaps on here on many topics, but not for a minute would I want them silenced.
  12. If Scotland do gain independence, what industries do we have, where’s the revenue coming from?
There will be no more fiscal transfer prop ups. Is there a guarantee that Scotland would get back into the EU? I believe the Scottish Government need to be transparent on how our economy will be set up before any vote on independence is granted. I hope they don’t try to work that one out after the fact.
How’s the Tax, pensions, currency for example going to work?
These things need to be cast in stone to let voters know what they’re potentially walking into.

  13. A said 2 seasons ago and again last season we need striker coach because our strikers finishing crap:get tommo in 2 days a week or ask Frank mac or Grady or something because a guys like sharp who was piss poor player isn't the guy I'd want coaching me:we are a mess again unfortunately

Jason Scotland offered his services twice for that. I contacted the club (Top 6 Tony) on his behalf, passed on his contact details etc, no one from the club ever got back to him.
  14. France last 6 days ....   6..  34..  49... 46... 50... 154...  can we call i a spike now boss
    200.gif&key=f3fed835dc2ddb282a87ce30db24fbb8c3eb00a60c37c03ff3249921ea330ba8

I believe it has to be put into perspective. Population of France is what.......... around 65/70million?, and 50 (fifty) Covid “related” deaths for September up to and including 17th.
  15. Not sure what the numbers are for U.K. gun crime? I would think knife crime was probably statically more prevalent, However if looking at the states, your upstanding friends may feel safe owning guns, but the evidence does not support there beliefs....

Individually, several studies have found that the presence of a gun in a home elevates the risk of death. A 2014 review of the research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, for instance, found that access to firearms was associated with a doubled risk for homicide and a tripled risk for suicide. A 2017 piece by Melinda Wenner Moyer in Scientific American also ran through the evidence, concluding that gun ownership was associated with a higher risk of homicide, suicide, and accidental shootings.

People often think that guns will potentially protect them from a home invader. But these kinds of events are relatively rare (and even then, the presence of a firearm can make it more likely that such a situation will escalate into deadly violence) — while the chances that a gun could be used to fatal ends in a domestic dispute, suicide, or accidental shooting are much higher, as the research on individual risk demonstrates.

This is true on a collective level as well: After controlling for other factors, higher levels of gun ownership are associated with higher levels of gun violence. Based on the research, this is one of the key reasons the US has much higher levels of gun violence than its developed peers.

I’d say from my experience that the gun owners that I know are all good intelligent law abiding people, not the type to go out shooting up the town, and I’d say that the majority of legally owned firearms are the same.
I get your point regarding the use of guns, but I’d say that in the world of criminal activity, the weapons would nearly all be illegal. Guns in the wrong hands IMO is where the issues lie.
I’d agree that in the UK knife crime is more prevalent than gun crime, but if some random fuc*wit is on a mission to cause carnage, they’ll use whatever they can get their hands on that’ll do maximum damage. I believe in the UK certain types of knives are now illegal (Rambo style) but knife crime is on the rise?
No idea what the answer is, maybe harsher sentences for those caught in possession of weapons would be a good start.
  16. Appalling, I suppose that what happens when you don’t police by consensus and you allow guns to be sold over the counter.

I don’t know if that’s the answer chap. People are being shot in the UK every other day, when guns are illegal. I personally have friends (not in the UK I must add) that have licenced firearms, some are concealed carry, others for home protection. All upstanding members of the community.
