  1. I think you are probably correct but people have got to stop presenting this as a fact.
It's not a fact at all.
We have no real idea whether lockdown helped or not. We can only assume at this stage.
Same goes for apportioning blame for the excess deaths. Don't be so certain about any of this.

There’s a lot of debate about whether lockdown was effective or not, but during the initial few months period, flights/ferries and dinghies were still arriving every day, no checks, no quarantine. In my opinion it kinda defeated the purpose.
  2.  I hate having to google for lazy people but...
    https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/
The rate of Blacks disproportionately murdered by police is increasing.

Why have a dog and bark yourself as they say [emoji6]

More white folks have been killed by police than blacks, but taking the overall demographics that would be expected.

However I for one haven’t lived in a black “hood” so I can’t talk from experience...... but. These areas by all accounts are known high crime areas, drugs, prostitution, gangs and homicides. These troubled areas also attract a higher police presence to patrol those areas. With all that in mind, there’s bound to be interactions between said criminals and the police..... which on occasion doesn’t end well for one or other.

America has approximately 35 millions blacks, 123 of those were killed by police in 2019, 80% were armed and deemed a justifiable killing.
So for it to be said as a fact that police routinely go out to kill black people is totally incorrect.

There are approximately 800.000 law enforcement officers in America. Out of that 800.000 48 police officers were murdered last year, 44 were shot and 4 where a vehicle was used, 37 killed so far to date this year. These figures come from the FBI site, not from a data platform BTW.
So on those stats, there’s more chance of a police officer being killed than a black person being killed by police. Wouldn’t you agree?
  3. Have you not seen the news recently?  [emoji33]

That’s not backing up your claim.

I remember a certain media outlet claimed a Lancaster bomber was allegedly found on the moon......... turned out that was incorrect.
I remember we were told that Iraq had WOMD...... turned out that was incorrect.

  4. It will have helped yet another generation who might well have grown up in ignorance learn that we are aw Jock Tamson's Bairns despite the fact that Blacks are routinely murdered by armed police officers in the US,  corralled into private prisons, be the majority on those sent to fight in foreign wars and more likely to be unemployed.
Not that it's much better for Blacks in the UK.
Anything that keeps this iniquitous disparity - due to superficial racial difference - in the spotlight, does serve a purpose.

    Lest we forget...
    Black Lives Do Matter

I don’t agree with your claimed “fact that blacks are routinely murdered by armed police officers”........ that’s a helluva statement.

Where did you get that fact from?
  5. I haven’t seen any evidence of this? I know that BLM is a grass roots organisation thats main object is to raise the awareness of racial inequality in the USA. I did see footage of about 5 protesters outside a hospital and some click bait headlines about “ storming the emergency room” and the like. I remember similar headlines after 9/11 about Middle Eastern men on roof tops cheering when the planes hit, funnily enough that turned out to be alt right propaganda.

You’re at the wind up.......... right? 🤣🤣🤣
  6. So do Scottish students, thank goodness young people are changing the world.

I hope those poor students aren’t too distressed by our history.
Good to see the university is listening to the BLM movement.......... the same BLM movement applauding the attempted assassination of two police officers at the weekend.
  7. Okay he let 3 goals on yesterday it won’t be the first or last that we lose 3 goals but if like go say zlamal could have told us to go f ourselves but he didn’t were short of keepers and he came to the rescue your a saints player now bobby all the best

What has to be taken into consideration.

    1. For two of the goals, could have been prevented if the defence had done its job.
    2. He only met his team mates probably an hour or two before the game.
    3. I believe Hearts only started back training again, so fitnesses levels not where they normally would for September.

As you said fella, he came in and pulled us out the shit, so fair play to him.
  8. It's difficult to know but I thinks she is a naturally very cautious person and feels a strong need to be in control and this virus will have shaken her to her core. This looks like classic control freakery to me.
I think Hendo has it right when he talks about fear and rationality not being good bedfellows. Moving old people into care homes can be looked at as a disaster. That was clearly a panic thing.
Maybe she's afraid of seeing her legacy disappear if she gets this wrong and lots of people end up dying. That will definitely be on her mind. Being FM and leading the country to independence is what her whole career has been about and right at the last second this virus hits. You'd have a hard job convincing me that this hasn't played a role in her thinking.
Scots are a weird bunch though. We are a long way from the pioneering, gallus, adventuring and innovative nation we used to be. Instead, we are cautious, risk averse bunch on the whole and we seem to absolutely hate change. There is a limit though as Labour found out. I don't think Sturgeon is at that limit yet but there's no doubt that this situation and her overreaction to it is causing problems for her.Right now I think most people are still saying "Well it could be worse. At least she's not Johnson or Trump".
ETA. I will say this. IMO if we are to gain independence it will have to be through her. I can't think of anyone else in the SNP capable of leading the country to a Yes vote. She is head and shoulders above anyone else in terms of stature and charisma. Problem is that she's already been in charge 6 years and all leaders have a lifespan.

I must admit, I’m not a big admirer of Sturgeon and have drifted away from the SNP after 2014.
However, in her defence WRT COVID she was in a “dammed if you do” situation and at the start of COVID where no one globally in her role knew what to do.
In saying that as time went on and over the worst of COVID in terms of deaths etc, she still seems to change her mind like the weather.
Yes more cases have been recorded of late, but virtually no one is dying from it now.
The more people I speak to and even reading comments on here, I think her popularity is waning.
  9. The intent of the hate bill is sound (no promotion of hate) however they need to get it right. It’s still going through Parliament so I am sure it will be amended and have some sunset clause inserted.

I read an article (can’t find it at the moment) that the proposed bill is causing a bit of a stir at the European Convention on Human Rights over the legality of such a move.
We’ve survived for years with bigotry which from a government point, have done nothing to put an end to it.
I’m not a lover of the various seasonal parades from either the Orange Order or the Republican side, but they do have that right to march, which I respect from a legal point. But this bill from what I’ve read and my understanding is correct is a bit more sinister. As far as I’m aware there has been no consideration to or consultation with the people of Scotland on how they feel about this bill.
I know on the BAWA forum we all disagree at times, and personal insults are flung between participants, but does that now mean members could have a knock at the door from the local constabulary (thought division) if a member takes offence at a comment that may not be directed at the offendee ?
  10. We're literally surrounded by Epping Forest. (OK, on 2 sides...)
    There's 339 sq kms.
With lakes, plains, hills, ponds and a gazillion trees.
From our hill I can see London Eye, Parliament, Telecomms Tower, The City.
When home and fit, I run in it every day.
    It's pretty outdoorsy.

Though I'm not going outdoors, right now.
Stuck in, waiting for a Sloppy Guiseppe and an American Hot!
You can't get good delivery boys these days...

Sloppy Guiseppe and an American Hot........ you ordered a couple o strippers?
  11. If you've done the research great, it didn't appear that way at all from the way you presented the questions. Anyone can have any view they want, it doesn't mean it's beyond challenge (both ways)
I agree with both facts, I don't think it's the full story or the risk is low enough to get back to normal (far from it)
I don't think anyone is claiming second wave in this country is absolute fact to happen.
As for your comments on flu season being branded Covid part 2, that seems completely unfounded, counterproductive for any government to push a flu season as covid and extremely unlikely that would be the conclusion the experts would arrive at and advise the government.
I think it's clear there is a lot of apathy from some regarding the approach taken by governments globally, that's fine. My view has been, remains and will continue to be a cautious one when it comes to protecting human life. [emoji106]

My comment regarding Covid part 2 was a bit of sarcasm. Let’s be honest, the way governments deal with the situation at times is laughable (including our own) As far as apathy by individual countries, it’s not a one size fits all. Some countries seemed to fair better than others with lesser restrictions.
I’m in no way knocking you for your views and approach on this, you have to do what you believe is best for you and your family.
  12. You've asked a lot of questions there. If you aren't aware of the science behind the answers and reasoning for the approach (as it seems given you're asking questions), I would suggest some reading up on it before coming to any conclusion never mind your noted one.

I’ve done plenty of research. At the end of the day some people will just accept what they’re being told. As I said on another post, it’s what specialist are we supposed to listen to.

Fact 1. More testing = more positive cases/false positives. Would you agree with that one?

Fact 2. The death rate has fallen in Scotland at least to virtually feck all. Would you agree with that one?

Second wave. Is that a fact that it’s going to happen? No, it’s not, it’s a prediction. No doubt come flu season it’ll somehow be rebranded as COVID part 2.
You are entitled to believe what you want, listen to whichever specialist you want.
Remember. Wear your mask, wash your hands and enjoy the rest of your evening. (mind and social distance)
  13. The experts who are predicting a second wave are the same epidemiologists, microbiologists, virologist and public health experts who tell us that we need to keep cases low and try to stop it spreading out of control.

They are experts as you say, so I'm more likely to listen to them than fannies on a football forum.

Experts the likes of Neil Ferguson? There have been other “experts” that have been openly criticised and in some cases been put on administrative leave for daring to go against the WHO narrative.

    Who to believe?.........Who knows.
  14. Correct.
We increase testing and the government are horrified to find new cases. What on earth were they expecting? This is just baffling behaviour and it seems nobody is calling her out on this.
Between the false positives, the asymptomatic cases and just 66 cases in one day in a population of millions, it makes you wonder what the aim is here. Clearly it's not about flattening the curve. All that is happening now is that the next wave (and no doubt there will be one) is being delayed.......until winter hits and now we have seasonal flu to deal with as well as covid.
Honestly, if someone can explain the strategy to me at this point, I'm all ears because I've got no explanation for this at all.

I keep reading about this second wave. Is there really going to be one....... or will it just be seasonal flu? Who are the experts that are predicting this, what’s it based on?
As you’ve stated, you test more people you’ll get more positives/false positives. 5 people in intensive care, no mention of age or underlying conditions being given anymore....... why?
Of all those new cases that have forced local lockdowns........ how many have died? how many are in hospital?

IMO we need to try get back to normal, i for one have had enough.
  15. I disagree, I have never put anyone on ignore on here. The problem isn’t the subject material (BLM) it’s the amount of videos from dubious sources such Bitchute (which is home to right wing extremists) I do wonder what has happened to Shull over the last 6 months, he used to make some great contributions to this site with very little political stuff. However now it’s a constant stream of polarised political views and conspiracy theories.
so how did it come to this? My first theory is that Shull has been a sleeper agent for the Russians for some time, unbeknownst to him he picked up a Russian agent from the airport who whispered the secret words which triggered his mission to saturate our forum with misinformation with a long term goal of destroying our way of life within these hallowed threads.

my second theory is that Shull has had so much time on his hands due to not having any hires that he has been sucked into the dark web (Tron style) and is being controlled by his dark alter ego (Shulloid) while good Shull try’s to fight his way out of the dark web.
    Other theory’s are available

    Did someone mention Russian? [emoji635]
  16. so where does it say you can get a vote on the back of a visa or work permit?
registering to vote requires leave to remain or settled status, not readily or easily obtained and certainly not available on a visa alone or a work permit.
And before we go any further, leave to enter doesn't just mean coming in on holiday

    Who can register

You must be aged 16 or over (or 14 or over in Scotland and Wales).

You must also be one of the following:

    • a British citizen
    • an Irish or EU citizen living in the UK
    • a Commonwealth citizen who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission
    • a citizen of another country living in Scotland or Wales who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission

That was kinda my point chap. FYI. That form was put through my door, along with documents for voting registration. (I’m renting a flat in Aberdeen as I had to come up here for my job)

I took a pic and posted it on here......... it’s not some screen grab from the internet.

So from what I’m reading in your post, you’re basically agreeing with me.
I know the legal process on immigration too well and how many hurdles there are to get over.
My point was. IMO....... that’s the key phrase. Unless you have gained citizenship complete with a British passport, you don’t get a vote.
If you’re a foreign national and are in the application process to gain citizenship and a passport, you don’t get a vote.
