  1. cleared off the line ???? aye the 12 yard line,, hopefully will turn out fine ,I was just a bit surprised he started (especially if he has pace )this was not evident on Saturday, might have been better to start with teale as he was not injured and brought new guy on last 30 mins when his pace might have been more effective ?

OK in the 6 yard box, it was still the best effort of the 1st half.

  2. I wasn't reading a twitter feed at all, my mate who was at the game text me and said he was having a nightmare.

Jeezuz christ on a bike. Why is everyone so touchy on here? Abuse and speculation?! I said he was apparently having a nightmare, that's all!

    Relax!

Aye so you were! Sounds like more negativety was being spouted!
  3. Apparently he's having an absolute nightmare for the u21's tonight.

Apparently you are talking shit yet again, the guy seems a bit too greedy, but that is probably down to the fact that he is keen to make an impression.

On Saturday his 1st half effort that was cleared off the line was the nearest we came to scoring in the 1st 45mins. The guy just needs game time to get his fitness levels up and to adapt to the Scottish game. What he doesn't need is guys like you with your tired, same boring old rantings of abuse and speculation.

  4. I suppose if the BoD did appoint Paul Hartley, and we didn't like his tactics or substitutions, the song 'Hartley, Hartley what's the score?' would still fit the bill. This surely swings things in Paul Hartley's favour to (hypothetically - should Danny never win another match again, ever, never, ever), become St Mirren's next manager. We like a bargain us Buddies - one song for the price of two. I think. Anyway, the cheap option - no new songs need purchased. Good luck in your new role Paul Hartley.

The same Paul Hartley that St. Mirren have hated for years, and a guy with no top flight management experience. How long before he would be verbally abused and despised on this forum if he went a further 4 or 5 games into this season without a win?

  5. What chance is there that a new manager could get better results? Considering the outlay to sack Danny and then pay compensation to another club for their management team, or you go for the cheaper option, a manager who has been sacked by another club because he has been deemed to be shite by his former club or by his former club's fans?

The outlay to sack Danny may also severly diminish our chances of adding to our squad come the next transfer window, and if our own support do walking away when things go wrong this will only financially punish the club and a new managers chance of getting new players in if Danny is sacked.

  6. I for one will continue to support our team. The team needs supporting through this bad spell, not fair weather supporters who do walking away and just abuse the team during the 90 mins of a match, like the knob end in W1 with the black base ball cap on who shouted abuse for most of the match. When we scored the opening goal against Thistle I turned round and looked up to where that guy was sitting and noticed he was just sitting there with his face tripping him (what kind of fan is he).

It does feel as if history is repeating itself a bit where in 87 we win the cup and then the following season after a poor run of results and elimination from the Scottish Cup we sacked Alex Smith. Did things really improve after that? That season we finished 9th out of 12.The following season we finished 7th out of 10, then 9th out of 10. The following season league reconstruction saved us as we finished 10th out of 10 then we finished 11th out of 12 in season 91/92 and thus were relegated after sacking Smith.

Sacking Danny will not gaurantee a change in league form.

  7. I have my doubts that we will sign another centre back as we have Mair/McGregor as first choice and McAusland, Barron and Kennedy as back up. If Darren was to go then we would need another.

We need the usual left back as we seem to do every year, creative/ box to box central midfielder and a winger.

I would expect possibly a couple of players on loan and maybe not too many more signings compared to last seasons squad size. The player budget will be less than last year but hopefully the quality will be higher.

We will be relying on the majority of the squad staying fit if we are going with a reduced squad numerically.

If Mair was to get injured we would be left with no experienced CD to marshall the defence. Everyone has to remember McGregor is still learning his trade in the SPL, McAusland has not played that many games in CD for us, and i can't remember Barron ever playing in CD for us so he would be very unexperienced in this role. We need another experienced CD to guide and marshall the defence. He has to be someone who will teach guys like McGregor and McAusland through games, passing on his experience. This would be missing if Mair was injured.

You can't rely on having a squad that won't get injured or pick up suspensions. We will have to have a versatile squad with some experienced players in key positions.

  8. Never rated Hogg as i think he isn't strong enough especially in the air.

Reminds me too much like John Potter, we need a centre half in the mould of McLaughlin at the Accies.

We don't need Nish as we have two big target men in Thompson and McShane, we need a forward with pace and movement to play beside these two.

We need a midfield player who can break with pace at the moment our midfield are far too slow.

Moving the ball around we are too slow and without the ball to support the front men we need to inject pace into our midfield

    My sentiments exactly.

As you say i believe we should get a big towering central defender who will cut out alot of cross balls and will be a key figure at defending corners and up at the other end when we have corners. Would also like the defender to have better distribution of the ball compared to Potter which i feel is a real weakness in Potter's game (too many aimless punts).

  9. I remember watching Hogg whilst playing for Hibs against Hearts on ESPN and he was rank that day and was blamed by the commentary team for one of the goals, it was not surprising that not long after, Hibs offloaded him to Caley.

As for Nish is that the same guy who got continually booed by his own Hibs fans because he is gash!

  10. Darryl Duffy would be a great signing. C'mon Danny get to it.:)

Perhaps you should go onto P&B with that quote and put it to Hibs fans!

I think the response would be pretty obvious! Duffy was a promising player at Falkirk but has lost his way through injury and would be a massive gamble which could be a load of money down the drain , not worth the gamble.

  11. If we are thinking about geting another striker

anyone think its worth a punt at Stewart Kean, was always willing to do the running, similar to Dargo, but could win headers

Are you for real? Kean has had his day. His career is on a downward spiral! Why do you think he joined Morton and has now been released by them, kind of says it all really that he isn't even good enough for 1st div shite like Morton where he only scored 3 goals.

  12. I see today in the daily record there is speculation that we are after Hughes and Patterson:-

St Mirren boss Danny Lennon keen on ex-Motherwell duo Stephen Hughes & Jim Paterson

    May 31 2011

ST MIRREN are tracking Stephen Hughes and Jim Paterson as they bid to add some experienced SPL campaigners to their squad.

It is understood the Buddies have held talks with the agent of Norwich midfielder Hughes about a move to Paisley.

The 28-year-old still has one year remaining on his deal at Carrow Road but is unlikely to feature much for Paul Lambert's side in the Premiership.

St Mirren hope to tempt the former Motherwell and r*ngers star back north but face competition from his old club Motherwell and Aberdeen.

Paterson, meanwhile, is a free agent following his release from relegated League One outfit Plymouth.

The 31-year-old left-back has heaps of SPL experience from his time with Dundee United and Motherwell so would be a useful addition to Danny Lennon's squad.

  13. Is Carey still contracted to c*ltic? if so, can we sign more than one player on loan from the same Scottish club?

I'd be more than happy to have McGowan for another year, and if we could pull off the Carey signing, that would be tremendous.

After his 6 month loan stint with Huddersfield Town, Lee Clark was desperate to sign Carey up for the rest of the season on loan but it didn't come off and he returned to c*ltic. I notice he made 19 apps and scored 2 goals as well whilst on loan.

Would not be surprised if Lee Clark makes another move for Carey especially after the season Huddersfield have had and would probably be able to offer Carey better terms than us unfortunately.
