Since the second half of the Hearts game, Newton has not looked interested in playing football for us.
He's reguarly failed to track runners, make tackles or even generate some form of counter attack. I don't know if he's carrying an injury or just not too interested anymore but he/Danny needs to change it and quick as we cannot afford to carry passengers in our team, especially in the midfield.

McGowan won't go to jail ffs. Calm down lads

Hard day for Cheesy, he had a nightmare but aside from yesterday he's been our best CB this season. Calling for him to be dropped is a tad harsh to say the least.
Another few performances like yesterday and i'll agree with the argument to drop him.
-
Although I'd agree he'd be mad to go there, I'm pretty sure McLean is a Sevco fan which may affect his decision.
They released him as a kid thought. Could still be some ill feeling still there
-
Why play at St.Mirren park when there are plenty of better suited venues a bawhair away in Glasgow?
-
Nice article there from Kenny but i'll take it with a pinch of salt. If we stall on a contract any longer and a team from down south contact him with an offer that will increase his wage tenfold, he'll be off.
-
I seem to recall that there was a situation with Everton-Newcastle where a young player who hadn't been offered a new deal for more than his current left with no compensation being paid. The jist of it being that when a young player leaves to go to another club in the same association at the end of the contract then there is an entitlement to compensation, but with no formal contract, with increase in wages, being offered then the player can leave with no compensation i.e a proper Bosman.
So with that in mind he surely must be offered current contract + nominal amount to protect an entitlement to compensation.
Think that was Dan Gosling.

Cue the barrage of ridicule and abuse.
Bring it on.
A few comments of "Danny Who?" etc are ridiculous. Sean has played 3 first team games. Grainger has been an established SPL/Premiership left back for a number of years now.
I know who i'd prefer to be in my first 11.
-
He's a decent left back just now but he's not better than Grainger. Grainger is a fine left back - As we've seen during his time with Hearts & United - He's bereft of confidence just now but will hopefully return the player we all want to see.
Kelly has alot of work to do before he can become a consistent Premiership left back.

Jesus christ. What a blubbering idiot. Who advises him on what to say to the media? He/She needs the sack.

Cheesy is done for 4 to 5 weeks. He won't be fit
-
Then why wouldn't they just sign him on a pre-contract like the rest of them so he could be integrated in the squad and play as a trialist? That doesn't make sense
You can't sign a free agent on a pre-contract.
-
Christ knows what the score will be but for a start i'll settle for a starting 11 with players played in the right positions.
That would please me greatly. -

It doesn’t matter what the fees paid to each player was. The fact is that Danny is paying to release players he reckoned was good enough and quickly found out they weren’t.
Thus equals he’s very poor at judging a players ability.
-
Wow three excellent examples of the Scottish Disease.
Why not acknowledge that it's better to try things and fail than to sit on your fat backsides and not try at all thus failing anyway?
Does taking risks not sound like a better way to live your lives?
No?
Really?
Feck I'm wasting my time.
Danny is to be applauded for taking the risks he took with his own career and applauded even louder for having the courage to change his mind when he realised it wasn't working. The man has also given youth it's chance and we now have a good crop of youngsters with experience at SPL level and Cup winning level.
That alone is why he will be given at least until Christmas with the current squad and any new signings he can make because we have a board of directors who also appear to have ASKED for the sort of low cost risks Danny has attempted.
Danny is here to stay. Live with it guys.
Or... You can argue that his ability to judge a player is very poor and in turn is causing our club to pay off contracts which is burning a huge hole into the budget for the season.
-
Yet another one of Danny's signings that he's had to release early...

For 45+ minutes last night we witnessed our team try, try and try again to win a game and failed miserably… AGAIN.
If that’s the best they have to offer then I’m afraid it’s not acceptable & I refuse to believe that last night’s second 45 & extra time actually was their very best efforts… There’s something badly wrong if that is seen at their best efforts to win a match. A team like ours should be comfortably beating Queens, no doubts.
I’ve yet to see us play football properly this season. ICT away was deplorable, Killie at home was pedestrian & lacked any real movement or urgency - until Boyd had that moment of madness (and we still couldn’t win) & the less said about Saturday the better.
What we’ve watched so far this season is far from the squads best efforts and its worrying.
-
It's disgraceful whatever way you look at it
-
Yes. Danny Lennon & St.Mirren should part ways.
One win since March. No wins at home in over 6 months and that pathetic attempt at defending our trophy just isnt acceptable.
-
These guys are doing their best,
The above post is incredible.
Have we really seen their best efforts this season? Especially last night. They look like a group of players that couldn't give to donald ducks if we win, lose or draw.
They deserve to be told exactly how/what we feel. Especially as we're paying £20+ to watch our 'superstars' perform pathetically.
-
I believe he can... but it's not a case of changing if being overran... we will quite simply be caught out then heads will go down.
The heads down thing is unacceptable for me. If they cannot be motivated to over turn a deficit at home then they need to have a long, hard look at themselves. As do the management team.

Im a fan of the 4-2-3-1 but not for this match as Thistle will exploit it at will with the space on the left wing for O'Donnell to run onto.
4-1-4-1 or 4-4-2 for this match...
But it is essential we have a left sided midfielder with pace who is prepared to put in a shift defensively.
It can easily move into a 4-4-2/4-5-1 if we're being over run with Gowzer being just in behind Thommo.
Unfortunately we don't have a pacey left winger. Kenny McLean has potential to be a make shift left winger untill we sort it but he looks like he's just not interested in playing there and quite frankly his work rate is awful at the moment. If we can sort out his desire/work rate then he could do a very decent job there. He certainly has the ability to be effective there.

I don't think it'll ever be John McGinns 'turn' as even when he's not having a particularly good game - which is a rare occurrence - he's still applying 100% effort. A few of our boys could learn from him.
I like Newton and McLean for that matter but when their body language doesn't show that they're too interested, it's hard to remain on their side. If it's not going your way then it's understandable, it happens from time to time but all we're looking for is a bit of desire and fight when it's needed.
