Your last bit is correct Norway, Denmark, Sweden build bridges and tunnels to islands. Cal Mac run at a loss they are propped up with government cash. Western Ferry's do the same job as cal Mac but make a profit.

Western ferries only operate on 1 route as far as I know. Calmac operate on dozens some of which won't be profitable but need to run to serve their community.

Which takes you back to bridges and tunnels like Scandinavian countries do. Anyone passing Ferguson on a regular basis will be able to tell you the ship in the water got a paint job put cardboard funnels on it all with Cal Mac trade Mark's. All this just so the SNP could get publicity for the new ferry's that was no where ready last year. .. then the one painted went into detration. You could see port holes being cut out  , the ferry was rusting. Now it has another new paint job on it. Have you any idea how much it costs to paint a ship all for a political publicity stunt. The whole thing stinks by the way I vote SNP.

Would they design it or just provide the spec, I think you may also be getting CMAL and CalMac mixed up!!

When I worked at sea our company got 6 new ships built one I worked on had a crew of 400 it was huge two football fields long. I joined the ship out the yard for sea trials. On board was the design team hired by the company who specialize on ship design. These experts were at the yard overseeing the construction of the ship from start to finish which was built on time in budget in Singapore.  Dont have any idea how Cal Mac go about these two ferry's. The two Rothesay ferry's were built on time and budget in Poland.

It’ll also give the yard time to build up an order book that will sustain the workforce (hopefully). There are quite big plans afoot with regards to building specialised fishing vessels going forward.

Fingers crossed I'm not convinced simply because 97 million paid out with no ferry ready is nuts.

Nationalise it, merge it with CalMac and let CalMac build their own ferries.

Or just build lots of bridges and tunnels.

    Sorted.

Where would the money come from to pay for two new build boats IoBS, you’ll probably not give two hoots as Bute has two perfectly modern and functioning ferries, other islands need the two new ferries  completed as the old fleet is no longer fit for purpose and as CMAL is pretty well government owned they’d be shooting themselves in the foot to scrap what’s already there!!

That's why I said the Scottish government will nationalise the yard. It's not to help the work force. Its financial and political. A never ending stream of money at this level will mean a shortage somewhere else possibly affecting us all. Government money projects haemorrhage money.

The Ferguson is going through money at a hugely alarming rate. Two Cal Mac ferry's cost has went up 100% 97 odd million paid out already. Ons ferry is in the water still far for completion.  The other ferry is a quarter of skeleton of steel well away for completion. This is a financial disaster on a huge scale almost criminal. The Scottish Government should not go near it. How much more money needs to be thrown at two ferry's ? This is why the Scottish government want to nationalise the yard. Not the work force, its the money they have already spent on ferry's that are not ready. Monumental disaster political bull shit.

What was the final cost of the Scottish Parliament building as opposed to the original quote and who paid for it?

Your right when there was a building in the heart of  Edinburgh fit for a parliament I dont know the name of the building it looks sort of classic Greek look to it. But all that money wasted on a new building wrapped in bamboo that building is horrible.

  8. Think like a lot of older buds was brought up a Christian. Life Boy's BB. The church never connected with me. My father funeral was conducted by the Salvation Army. Never really gave it a second thought until a so called friend asked me why the Salvation army.  So I asked my mother she told me they were the only Christian' organisation to be found on the front line comforting soldiers.  I have a lot of respect for the Salvation army they do a lot of good work.

The club and ground will be closed on this day to:

.Families & Children wishing to sit in their own Season Ticket seats.

.Families & Children wishing to attend the Panda Club

.Families & Children (and St Mirren fans) hoping to attend organised pre-match entertainment.

all St Mirren fans seeking to attend the match, reasonably segregated from a larger away support, known for violence, vandalism, pitch invasions, sectarianism.

the club will also be closed to common sense thinking on how it builds a sustainable support for decades to come, instead of squeezing and extra £5 out of its own, and the aforementioned overbearing away support.

however there is an open day, free for all on Saturday 17/8/2019. Its just closed the following weekend. So no kids or families etc on that day please. Thats reserved for vandalism, sectarianism and possible unrest inside and outside the stadium..

Thank you for (your taken for granted) continued support!

Aye but do they get free beans ?

  10. Was watching the highlights on Buddie vision with no commentary.  The language coming from the same voice is utterly embarrassing every kind of swear word is used every two to three words at the top of his voice. If I was sitting near this guy I would have no hesitation having a word in his ear. Glad I'm in the main stand.

  11. When me and my mate were on the ferry the Rangers supporters club was returning also. One of them Helen is a bitter blue nose. Always wearing a team top with short trousers and union Jack soaks. Her fence is painted red white and blue while she has a flag pole in her garden with a union flag. I'm sure you get the picture of this individual.  I say to her are you coming to Paisley for our next game.  Helen replying says no. I say oh that's a shame I had a present for you. What was the present she said. A box of tissues and laugh. She tells me to f**k off not pleased. My mate says did you get penalties today. She says no and f**k off again. I follow up with a player must have been sent off not knowing a Hibs player had been sent off. She replied yer a pair pricks with me and my mate laughing. Next thing we are being eye balled by a group of **** but that's all. Was funny taking the piss out of her.

You obviously have an interest in St Mirren or you would not be on the forum.

Strangely never encountered it in the 10 years I worked offshore.   Besides if I did, I don't  think I would have said anything and expect to sleep at night.

Maybe you could suggest to your gentlemen customers to sit down and it could possibly be as equally spotless. :whistle

You know how thing work offshore. A stewardess comes to me and complains cabin such and such bin has been urinated in with urine also on the floor. That is disrespectful to my staff especially when the bin sits next to the toilet door. So I do my job by going to the crew member and tell him we need a private chat. Finish the conversation by saying it is between us but if it happens again I will report it to the Captain. This was a pipe laying vessel with 350 crew. If you think its acceptable to urinate in a small cabin that has it's own toilet turning a blind eye to it and not looking after your own staff then I differ.

  14. Of all the years working offshore I had to speak privately to guy's who would urinate in their room garbage bins. Pee the bed. Shit in their bed. Never flush toilets. In our shop this is common, dont flush the toilet this is found a lot in our toilets. Pea around the floor. Toilet roll pulled out  in long lengths left on the floor. Take the womans toilet always 100% spotless. The difference is shocking. Our toilets are done to a very high standard you often hear woman say that's a beautiful toilet. Even at the football you go into a cubicle only for the toilet seat to have urine on it.
