  1. Managed to watch the game today. What a magnificent effort from every player, starters and subs . It was refreshing not to ‘park the bus ‘ for once , and have a go. And see what happened !!. The most frustrating thing is thinking what has happened on Wednesday and today after Sunday. Hard to think it’s the same team. Well done Saints [emoji106]

  2. Miller deliberately catching the ball in two hands whilst trying to award himself a free kick, thus preventing his opponent from playing the ball, is a nailed on yellow. But not in this game, even though it was penalised by a free kick for hand ball.
This is his first season refereeing top flight games. I think tonight was his 8th game.

And hopefully his last , which sadly won’t be the case. Precursor to their goal, the goalie runs out the box carrying the ball, with a little help from Andrieu. Either free kick to them- probable- or us- less likely . But you can’t just carry on as if it didn’t happen, contravening the rules of football. Then, ball up park, waters gets head injury, and play not stopped, they score. As for last 15 minutes, along with his prancing walk off the park, less said the better. Had to apologise to my son for my swearing tonight, primarily at the referee, but also at our players, especially first half .
  3. They must have done so as it states, "In keeping with the standards of dress maintained by the Saint Mirren football club, male guests are requested to wear a jacket and tie". Now. It says request but what happens if I turn up without? Will I be refused entry? I think I'll do just that and, if refused, request that the person who gave me the tickets get a full refund. Sorted.

Just says jacket and tie . No mention of a shirt .....
  4. With Hippolyte, Baird and Miller, Falkirk looked threatening. For the majority of the game we looked about as likely to score as I am about to score a threesome with Kylie Minogue, Carol Vorderman and my favourite, the wummin' fae' the Scottish Widows adverts. Houston once more, the experienced head coach with St Mirren's sorry arse in his hip pocket.
More beer required here. Bring on the Alloa.

Would that not be a foursome then?
  5. Positives. I thought McKenzie and Gordon looked competent. And although I didn't think either McAllister or Naismith had an excellent game I was impressed with McAllister dropping back and covering Naismith when Naismith went forward. It was very noticable and it deserves mention because as that kind of cover down the right doesn't happen all that often at St Mirren. I could see why Jack Ross would play a 4-5-1 yesterday. He's tried to keep things a bit more solid, but it didn't really work. After the first 20 minutes when Sutton was fairly well supported, the performance levels dropped and all too often Sutton was left isolated. Another positive was the fact that there was less passing the ball around the back four before passing the ball back to Langfield. Most of the passing seemed to have a purpose although the build up play was often too slow and it allowed Dumbarton the opportunity to get their shape back. However in saying that it was that f**king about at the back between Irvine and Langfield that caused the goal so it hasn't been completely eradicated.

I don't think there were any players who particularly impressed with their overall play. Sutton grafted hard without support and the supply from the flanks wasn't great at all. Mallan was still poor, and his set pieces haven't improved at all Clarkson and McGennis were functional if not stylish.

Langfield would obviously be slaughtered for his mistake. It was amateurish and it's the kind of mistake he's made often all throughout his career, but the fact is that even if Langfield hadn't f**ked up St Mirren still wouldn't have won. You need to score more than your opponent to win, and St Mirren just aren't capable of converting the two or three chances that their creative play generates. They need to up the creativity and get a better supply to the front line.

That f@@@ing about was actually between langfield and Mackenzie if you had been paying attention
  6. See this is kind of my point. The only statistic that matters is the score was St Mirren 0 Dundee United 2. Leicester City won one of the richest leagues in the world last season with the poorest percentage possession stat. Having loads of the ball means f**k all, it's what you do with it when you get it.

Dundee United scored twice - both goals were down to poor defensive mistakes. Jack Baird dived in and missed for the first one, in the second McKenzie made an absolute f**k up and when Langfield had a chance to fix it he was slow to come off his line and his clearance was a tackle rather than a hoof clear.

I do agree with you that I think things will improve at St Mirren and that the club has players that should be too good to go down, but if they don't start working as a team, showing desire to win, and if there isn't enough work being put in at training to set pieces and in to off the ball movement, then St Mirren could be in real trouble of the drop.

I would agree. Big mistake by Mckenzie but not irretrievable had langfield moved even a bit quicker to get out . Similar to other moment in 2nd half when DU player through ( looked offside) but langfield clearly should have been first to get down on ball but dilly dallied and their player put it under him before someone ( not sure who ) cleared the danger . He ( Langfield) was moving in slow motion .

Some idiots on here have been bragging about getting free kids seats next to then to retain seats. System of validating free tickets is perfectly acceptable.

understood , its just that turning up with him  didnt really validate anything as they didnt even look at him , as ' he was on the system '. Just wondered what the point of it all was .

  8. Cant understand why you have to turn up with child to get the free season ticket .When i eventually managed to find the tiem to go down with junior to prove that he genuinely existed with passport in hand to confirm his DoB in case this was the issue, they said at the ticket ofiice '' its ok , we've got him on the system with his date of birth '' . Is it beyond the wit of man to be able to renew season tickets for under 12 s online ??

  9. How many shops, pubs, or cafes have sold high cost season tickets for a set number of events where if you don't turn up you lose out? If any of the businesses you listed had sold tickets in advance for an event and then refused to cancel it ignoring severe weather warnings till the very last minute in full knowledge that some were travelling 40 - 50 miles to get there they would rightly be vilified. Yet here when a football club does exactly that we've got a forum full of people willing to defend it.

Ever heard of Mother Nature ? By any chance are you able to predict what it has in store for us? So, for example, when Ross County game was abandoned 2 seasons ago, referee should have called it off in the morning when the forecast said it might get a bit wet in the afternoon ? Come on, stuff happens , nature is unpredictable, and sometimes, just sometimes , it's nobody's fault
