  1. McGregor's not scored since his first season with us, OK so we should discount the middle two, but his counterattacking abilities we're the main reason he was well regarded at that point as his defending has been as erratic as any of our other CD's during his time with us.

Happy if he stays but if he's got a better offer elsewhere we should maybe look at it as an opportunity............

Scored on first game of season before last against ICT (2-2 game)

  2. Feel sad for Danny. Genuinely nice guy and great with the supporters ,especially the kids at any of the new strip / calendar signings.

I think we need to be careful for what we wish for.

It's easy to forget many years in the wilderness at a time like this.

Hope he gets a chance somewhere else. I strongly suspect he is not the type to carry a grudge were he to return to SMP with a.n.other team

  3. Overall, take a point especially the way the ball was flying about our goal a few times in the second half.

First reaction after , what was it , 2 minutes , wee john should have scored . Are these opportunities sometimes overlooked because they happen so early in the match.? Imagine that happened in the last 2 minutes ?

In the first 10 minutes , higginbotham managed one elbow, one dive and a couple of other 'lash outs' - knob.

Goodwin - penalised for just being there and the most fouled player on the park- one tackle in second half ON him would have been red carded if it had been BY him.

Definitely thought McGinnis improved things by that stage and asked more questions of the thistle defence.

Most impressive moment of the night was the 68th minute. Didn't know Simon. But what an awful thing to happen at the end of a day after watching your football team. I don't know Dave J , but given what I've seen on this topic, well done my son. Some things can restore your faith in the human race

  4. I thought he was booked for persistent fouling. When the ref gave the free kick I made that Jim Goodwins fifth - although I didn't think the one he was eventually booked for was actually a foul. It looked more like an accidental clash of heads.

I actually thought Dundee United were extremely poor today. They looked like they had the potential to break quickly but from the moment they went 2-0 down any notion they had of playing football was abandoned as they resorted to pumping high long balls forward for the rest of the match. They had gone 4-2-4 just before the sending off and went on to see out the game playing a rather silly 4-1-4 formation which was never going to work. No wonder John McGinn looked like he was really enjoying himself.

And how many were actual fouls ? As opposed to Dundee pansies falling down whenever he was in close proximity ? They -and they are not alone - we're trying to reduce our team to ten men

  5. The only reason Goodwin was booked was because the referee reacted to the Dundee United support . He hadn't even awarded a free kick until then. He (madden) managed to surpass his performance at the Celtic game earlier this year . Overall, haven't enjoyed or been more surprised at a home performance since the rangers Christmas Eve match. It was a cracking good game of football. And credit to DUFC for playing football the proper away - apart from falling over like pansies too often.

    Get Kello signed !!!

  6. HSS - I don't think you will have anyone disagreeing with you.

I'd expect the supporters buses will be cheaper to hire. Anyone grabbing taxis into/out of town will be cheaper. Bus & train timetables will be less restricted. I'd expect the policing and stewarding costs to be less on the 2nd - all good reasons to change.

However the bug bear for many supporters is that if we can see that these issues are going to be a problem when the fixtures are announced in July/August then why can a sensible decision be made months in advance by the club chairmen rather than 4 weeks away.

I guess it means you can work the 1st now to pay for the game on the 2nd.....

People will have made family, work and travel arrangements around this match being played on the 1st Jan and it could have been announced far earlier than now.

i think you have put my very point in a much more eloquent manner

  7. Unfortunate for you, but how do you ask 5,000 people what time suits them? Probably a sensible, commercial decision. Personally, the day after Xmas or Ne'er day is better for me and probably most people who have family commitments.

If sensible , commercial decision why not realise that at start of season instead of deciding just over a month before the match . We've known when New Years day is for quite some time .

PS hacked off because volunteered to work on the 2nd
