I reckon Djorkaeff is already signed up and we're just waiting for the official confirmation.

He was playing quite well on Tuesday but was hooked at half time which suggests Goody wants to keep him fit for Sunday?

I'd also be very surprised if we don't see at least two in before Sunday. Imo the transition in manager, if we already had targets identified should have only set us back a week or two max.

  2. This should have been put to bed. 'No comment', or 'we are here to discuss Jim Goodwin' should have been the response to the media.

It's not fair on the. We management that we are still talking about the past management.

And for what it's worth, if OK DID have any wrongdoing and was trying to buy a ticket back home, do you think he would publicly admit it? It has all coincidentally fallen into place rather well for him.

Let's move on and focus ahead on JG and LS

My thoughts are that of the 4 or 5 Goody is looking to bring in, maybe only 2 or 3 at most of those may have featured at some point tonight.

You think guys of this standard have been "identified". Get real this is trialist tombola. No way we have spotted guys who have literally no experience at any decent level. Longridge ffs I'd be pissed signing him for the Championship. All that is left is basically the pre Jan squad plus the keeper not a shred of the quality we have all seen is required.

There have been plenty players in the past who have come from no experience to turning out well. You can't just dismiss a players ability  because you have had a wee look online at his stats.

He ain’t signing a new contract with a club that can offer 6X his salary chasing him.

That'll only change if interest cools on him.

I think interest may gather over the summer, though he has said his ambition is to play in England one day. As much as Qarabag may offer good wages, he would be pulling himself further away from his dream by moving to a country that takes about 2months to travel to.

Another thing that worries me in this is that Lyness resigned for Saints He left last year dropping two divisions because he wanted to be a starter Yet he signed here with Hladky ahead of him? Does he know something?

I don't believe that was the case. We had Rodgers on our books and were already on the verge of bringing in Hladky. The club couldn't afford to have 3 goalies. Unfortunate the Rodgers situation left him with no other option than to take an offer down the leagues. Possibly was assured we would come back for him in the summer if he kept himself ticking over and Rodgers was off our books

  7. The club off the back of the money received so far for John McGinns move to Villa, should hopefully put us in a financial position, where we stand by our players value with not the need to sell unless someone matches his valuation?

Jack Ross asked the board to hold on to Morgan the summer of 2017 for the season, as he seen more value of him being part of his team and help challenge for the title than sell him. We ended up with a really good win win situation in the end, where he contributed massively and he probably went for no less than he would have that summer of 2017.

Sign him on an extension if he is willing to, drop in some realistic clauses and send Qarabag on their way unless they are willing to pay a less insulting fee.

  8. Bounce game today vs Peterborough. I wonder if this will be the final assessment of the other trialists today in terms of offering terms or not, or if they will travel back to Ralston for the week and play in the Stenny game too.

Didn't play a single game for a B team last season...

7 games the season before that

    Doesn't give you much confidence

I'm not sure how accurate these stats are from online. You usually find with B teams and reserves these things don't tend to be updated much.

If he has come in via our talent finding network, then he must have something to show. We haven't done too badly so far going by the January windows results.

Can't really blame Popescu for wanting to move on, he's given us the chance to sign him - arrived keen to sign but we've not taken him up. Clearly budget must be an issue. Sad to see him go but these things happen.

It hasn't been clarified that we are not pursuing a transfer. The newspapers are assuming due to his social media post that he was off for good. His loan deal ended on 30th June. He couldn't fly out with the squad to Spain as he is still contracted to Dinamo. We wouldn't have brought him back for the remainder of his loan deal if we didn't feel we were in a position to sign him. It's all about timings in my opinion. Wouldn't surprise me if we see Mihai back in a couple of weeks.

It would seem Oran's departure might not be the good news that Josh was imagining. Signed by Stubbs but not rated by him, not wanted by Oran and not even taken to pre-season training by Goodwin.

The post is probably Heaton's way of notifying non-league clubs down south he will be available for loan deals or after a mutual consent arrangement.

This could very well be true. Though if Gus, Tony and the coaches and possibly what's been fed back to the chairman who sanctioned a fee, who have been here since his first arrival had the same opinion under the last two managers, it would be a very hard way to turn people's opinions.

No-one will know if he has tried to make contact with the club whilst at Kidderminster to try and clear the air, though the fact he was holidaying in Bali, whilst his parent club were in a relegation playoff surely didn't go down well either.

I can probably swallow what is being said in this article:

Oran Kearney's dramatic spell in the Scottish Premiership is over. He can leave St Mirren with his head held high after saving them from relegation

Pride won't be the only emotion he will be feeling today as he reflects on an eventful nine months with the Paisley outfit.

There will be disappointment for the ex-Coleraine boss at the way in which his time in the full-time spotlight finished following a fall-out with the chairman Gordon Scott, but by the same token also relief that what was turning into an acrimonious saga has now ended.

Once their relationship broke down last week, there was no way back. Scott has a 51% share in the club and, effectively, what he says goes, as previous managers know all too well.

Kearney and Scott never had the warm, fuzzy relationship the former enjoyed with Coleraine chairman Colin McKendry.

It reached crisis point at a meeting last week when Kearney's desire to continue commuting back and forth to Northern Ireland was discussed.

Last season, the 40-year-old had been returning home twice a week to spend time with his wife Lauren and their two children.

Kearney was certain the trips did not impact on his job. Keeping St Mirren in Scotland's top flight would suggest he was right.

Scott felt, however, it would be better for the club if Kearney stayed in Scotland on a permanent basis. There was never going to be a meeting of minds on the issue, leading to Kearney's inevitable departure.

At the weekend, Kearney had been told not to turn up for the club's first day of pre-season training yesterday when behind the scenes lawyers were drawing up an exit settlement.

News from Paisley last night confirmed Kearney had left by 'mutual consent'.

Just last month he was being cheered off the pitch at St Mirren by jubilant supporters after the Buddies had beaten Dundee United on penalties in a play-off to maintain their status amongst Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen.

That was an emotional afternoon for St Mirren fans, who for most of the season feared that their team would go down. They saw the manager as a miracle worker.

Kearney's remit was to avoid relegation when he took over last September having inspired Coleraine to Irish Cup glory just a few months before. In that same season, they almost beat Crusaders to the title.

He found the going tough in the early months but, after bringing in new players in January, St Mirren ended the season in splendid fashion, moving away from bottom place and the automatic drop to 11th and a play-off.

In the run-up to the two legs with Dundee United there was speculation linking him with a move back to Coleraine, who had sacked Rodney McAree and were hunting for a new boss.

Kearney had decided, however, that he wanted to give it another crack with the Buddies against Neil Lennon's Bhoys, Steven Gerrard's Rangers and the rest.

He organised a friendly with Coleraine for this Saturday and was lining up new players. He had also made travel arrangements to commute between Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Now he is a free agent and with Coleraine yet to appoint a successor to McAree over six weeks since his departure, Bannsiders fans are hoping that Kearney 'comes home'.

Incidentally, Coleraine players start pre-season training tonight, with coaches William Murphy, Trevor McKendry and Paul Owens putting them through their paces.

Coleraine chairman Colin McKendry said: "If Oran, as a former manager of Coleraine who had built something special at the club, became available, it would be totally remiss of me not to approach him. He knows the club and many of his players are still there.

"As a person running a business at Coleraine, I know how good a manager Oran is and also what a good person he is.

"I would assume we would not be the only people looking to talk to him simply because of his ability and his reputation.

"What he has done at St Mirren, in my opinion, has been astonishing. Personally, I would love Oran back at our club but we will see what happens."

Addressing rumours Coleraine had hoped Kearney would depart St Mirren all along, McKendry stated that wasn't correct, pointing out that earlier this month they approached Dundalk to speak to their assistant Ruaidhri Higgins only to be denied permission by the League of Ireland outfit.

"People have said our plan the whole time was to wait for Oran. It genuinely has not been like that at all," said McKendry.

"We felt that Oran would be staying with St Mirren and I was sure he would continue his outstanding work there. That's why we looked at Ruaidhri Higgins, but obviously things have changed."

    Belfast Telegraph

I am disappointed in his departure as I have stated elsewhere that his feat in keeping us up last season was probably a better feat than JR's Championship winning success. Managing a football club like St Mirren can work in many ways. Can you imagine any good manager being interviewed by the BoD's and before taking on the job being told that he must stay in Paisley (or locally) otherwise he won't be given the job. Of course not, if he can do it from Timbuctoo and he is the right man / woman then  why not just go with the ride. Nice decision from the BoD's yet again.

We really do know how to shoot ourselves in the foot - ☹️😩🤬

How do you know everything is fact by the news article? There will be some things that can't be spoken of due to legalities, though it's not a certainty that it's all a one sided disagreement

So, it looks as though OK is out on his arse and Jim Goodwin is #1 on the list... Purely as a new topic of discussion, If it wasn't a Saint Mirren legend and solely a nobody Alloa manager, would we be happy with the appointment? I know his job last season with limited resources was fantastic but can't help feel he's under qualified for the job. Especially when he has only got three weeks to build a squad before the serious stuff kicks off  -unless we write off the League Cup to give him slightly more time.

I wouldn't be up in arms if we do appoint JG but i'm not so sure his credentials qualify him for the job..

JR arrived from Alloa with just as much experience as Jim as a first team manager. Gus in his first full season got us promoted. I guess we will never know until we try.

The signings policy is different now to last summer. Still expect us to be actively making movement.

They've handled this so well, updating the support, taking considered decisions, showing leadership...... ROTFLMFAO

If something has become a legal matter as mentioned today in the papers, surely you can understand the club cannot comment directly to fans until this is resolved.

To me, it seems like they have considered decisions, looking at the long term and questioning the managers commitment. They have shown leadership by taking action.

I lik Oran, he brought that same feel good factor unity that JR did, though whatever happens, the board are acting in the clubs best interests. They may be businessman, though they are also fans like the rest of us.

  15. 1 hour ago, Lord Pityme said:

Kearney offered to continue doing his job under the custom & practice his employers allowed. His employers have tried to change that custom & practice without agreement. They have now banned him from taking training, which is essentially a suspension. Oran can now take the club for every penny he is due in his contract, plus damages for stress and his good standing as a professional football manager.

Given what this will cost, and whatever additional costs bringing in a new guy might entail i can see the old firm getting all four stands for every game!

and do you know how easily it could have been resolved??? By offering him an improved deal on condition he moves by the agreed deadline. So what was a minor issue, has by ego been allowed to completely derail the club. Piss poor amateurs.

tell me how good does it feel

to have wee anxious back at the wheel?

It just all starts to read like St Mirren are being played now, all hidden behind the exception being taken about professionalism and commitment and family constraints.

Clearly a daily commute is a piss take, the job does not allow for that in all practical senses, OK would know that, if indeed that was a genuine factor.

Then there is the Coleraine element at play.

His teaching job allegedly still available

All beginning to look like a very disingenuous squabble has been engineered.

Lawyers, pay off ffs, well, that's it truly soured now.

He was asked by the media prior to our two playoff games about the Coleraine vacancy and he didn't really deny any interest, or show any sorts of indication that this is where he wanted to be long term. He said at the time, my main focus is these two playoff games.

From the newspapers today, its revealed his old PE job is still open for another 3 months and tying that in with the vacancy at Coleraine, you can't help but think he would want to return to that and think the only way he can have anywhere near close to that family time over here, is to ask to commute daily, which i completely stand with board on this one. It is completely unreasonable at club level to have that flexibility.
People can compare the commute in duration all they like with mainland ones, though this is completely different and would most likely restrict a lot of the work that is required of a fulll-time football manager.

Being a family man myself, I can completely understand OK must be finding it difficult with time away from his wife and kids and respect he is putting family first, though it doesnt seem to have ended in a nice way.

I think GS has every right to question the manager he employs about long-term commitment. It says that after requesting a daily commute he came to a compromise of a couple of days a week again, though, that clearly showed he would first and foremost wish to travel home more often rather than think to settling here permanently.
