Motherwell are sponsored by Paddy Power. It is the biggest sponsorship deal they have ever had in their clubs history and they haven't got their logo on their shirts.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off the possibility of major sponsors in the future. I didn't think that a club like St Mirren would attract interest from a major sponsor like JD Sports yet the club did.

Fair point. Fair play to PP though who also agreed to not having their name on the shirt. With the Ladbrokes Scottish Cup and previous history of betting and alcohol firms in football in general it would be nice to see a move from these type of businesses but the SFA should lead the way. Money talks but responsible sponsorship should also be a key factor for a club going forward. “We know our place, and it’s not on your shirt.” PP

  2. Thought Jimmy (Gillespie) Calderwood covered most of the questions quite well in the video. Personally the most important factor for myself was 1) The financial stability of the club and 2) The financial stability of Smisa now and going forward. I don't think dropping the current contributions to BTB is a great idea and would prefer continuing along the same lines to create a bigger emergency pot if push came to shove. I would have liked to have seen a vote on contributions before this deal is voted upon to provide some reassurance on SMISA's potential financial position in the future. Can't see a big betting firm or the likes sponsoring us now or in the future and don't really want to see Mecca Bingo on our shirts. It is most likely to be local firms as it has been in the past.

Mentally bbc forecast now got wind at almost 60mph by 4.00pm. IF (big if) that materialises (just breezy for now) there is no way you can play football in it. Personally think the forecasts will be over pessimist but who knows. Would make any game a lottery.

    2-0

    obika (a header)

chabi (through-ball that he toe-pokes in)

Don't you mean the other way around? Obika (a header)??? It is more likely that it will be the toe poke if he scores. Should get great odds on it at the bookies though.

Obika put in work today?? When was that when was getting off the team bus. His work rate is 0. His ball control is 0. His heading ability is 0. So how did he play 90mins.

You didn't notice his run to near post, drawing defenders to him leaving Andreu unmarked to score the second goal?

Must admit I totally missed that. He may have a football brain after all but that is not the issue.

See turrabuddie main point. Play a player alongside him and see the improvement.

Shouldn't need someone holding his hand and clutching at straws if you think it is going to make him look any better. No pace, Poor control, Can't jump, Muscled out too often, Can't turn. When we brought on other players up front late on in games it made no difference so why would it magically happen now. Would have played Mullen any day of the week over him and the fact that he is/was our first choice striker says it all. Was maybe worth a punt but would prefer he was punted.

Can't recall the amount of FFS I have made at his expense.

Interesting to read the comments about Obika. Now I wasn't at the game today but the BBC's Kheredine commented on him as follows:
"Jonathan Obika also led the line superbly for the visitors and was part of the reason they were able to play a lot of their football in the Hibs half. "

As like you Kheredine couldn't have been there either. We played the whole game with 10 men.

Only managed to hold the ball and link up play 4 times the entire match and can't remember him winning a header.

7 goals of which 1 was decent and a few were lucky.

Personally see him as a bit of a liability as has also stopped 3 efforts on goal by others players in those games that looked as if were going in. His first touch and control is poor and has a lack of mobility. Being unable to hold the ball up more often or do much when he receives it just ends up with the ball coming back at us. I can't believe that anyone thinks he is a good frontman for us and couldn't say at the end of any match that he had a good game for us.

  7. Another point for consideration. Without the above financial security in the shares, what happens when more and more people start using IPTV and sky/bt subscriptions drop and deals for the SPL rights start dropping or in the unlikely event that Celtic and Rangers get invited to join the Premiership or English leagues and tv rights halve almost immediately. The £50k-100k pot smisa are advising that gives financial security doesn't really cover it. After reviewing the past 2 years accounts I am also not overly impressed by the financial management of the club at present. We need to ensure that we don't have our backs against the wall if shit happens.

Under the original  scheme ,which the BTB was sold on,Smisa would have over 80%of shares ,which it has been pointed out ,they did not need, as 51% would enough .

But the additional shares could have  then been sold to give Smisa a reserve  pot to invest in the club as and when required ,ie a financial cushion.

This could  now be lost, and should we run into trouble we might ,with only the 51% have to sell shares to keep the club afloat , and there goes our majority  shareholding.

I believe the partnership with Kibble could be fruitful  but why buy shares? We have a successful  partnership  with UWS  but no share dealings.

Only sell 15/20% ?? Open for discussion

Completely agree with that and thought that an 80/20 with Kibble would be not only a more attractive proposition for fans and you are also on the money with regards to the financial element it brings to the club. Once we hit the numbers Smisa were advising that members fee could drop from £12-£5.If members are happy paying the £12 then keep it going and negotiate with Kibble on the arrangement. If they are keen to be involved for the right reasons then wouldn't have thought this would be an issue. If they are looking for grants etc and this is to their financial benefit and takes money away from the club/community trust then would have to question the proposal.

It is like going for indepence without the financial implications to the club and current revenue streams and a full cost analysis with pros and cons should be established so a more informed decision could be made.

Can’t see us in for another striker, but that shved would be a great signing IMO

Another one of our strikers will be away in the summer and if we can get a bit more quality in upfront for 6 months to help with survival then think Jim would go for it. Ifceltic get Atsu on loan from Newcastle then it could pave the way. Rumour was us and fakes were interested.

^^^^  This - folk blowing steam out of their rear end - thanks for doing the research - He will be in double figures by the end of the season...

Will Mullen, Cooke or Morais NO !

Mullen probably not, offer rejected for him from dundee but if they come back in with a better offer that is accepted then definitely not.

  11. Can't remember where I read it last night but he is going straight into their under 23 squad and good performances might see him progress to the first team. He had been identified as a prospect. It would also make sense to me that if a club is looking to bring in younger players to do so for 6 months before commiting to a purchase particularly if they are not playing regular first team football.

Yes. Let's also remember your record over the years of being wrong on so much. Do you seriously not think there's a chance you'll be wrong on that?

I knew three years ago Kibble would be back in to acquire the club. And now that's happening.

What exactly did you know? I would think many fans would be interested in this if there is information that wasn't communicated that would be relevant.

Just as a point of reference though to the people saying that 51% does not constitute having full control of the club.....
That's actually a tiny bit more than Gordon owns today (50.1%).

Why was such a big deal made of gaining over 71% of the shares in the original BtB proposal if it was never necessary?

As we agreed to buy them from GLS to have fan ownership. Doubt he wanted to keep 20%
