Owen Coyle would be a good shout. Good working relationship with Thommo, knows plenty about the Scottish scene, and would bring a fair bit of managerial experience to the job.Obviously a long-shot cost-wise, but he has had a wee lay-off, so might embrace a new challenge to re-ignite his career. He would come with decent contacts, and some personal and professional gravitas. Can't see it, however.
I,ll ask him

I'd be up for a left field appointment. John Hartson.
Really?
The guy needs help tying his shoelaces FFS.

Surely the prospective buyers have amassed the requisite number of ginger bottles to finance this deal by noo?

Please no I can't stand john Collins!
Jeez there's no pleasing everybody... Ok rip it up and start again!
-
I heard it was Edwyn Collins... But I,ve never met a potential manager like him beforeI'm just recalling a message that I got a couple of months back (from an extremely reliable source, I may add). It said that our next managerial team will be Tommy Craig and John Collins.
I,d take Collins and give him my support (John that is)
-
Correct decision, he is gone but not forgotten, no one can ever take that league cup win away from him.
No one other than a large amount if posters on here who insist it had nothing to do with him. But all the piss poor performances/signings were his and his alone,s cock ups.

You sound like a top fan.
And we,re back to the old 'I'm a better fan than you' crap.....

However, our new Manager will be given 100% support.
Not by the Bod who are handing him half a squad and no goalkeepers!

The clusterf**k of a shambles skitters on.
Thanks Bod

Same position in a largely part time league? It has 3 part time teams out of 10, his side are one of the 3 and he finished 5th! Jeez.
No, he won't guarantee a top 6 finish, no one would, keeping Danny would have guaranteed a bottom 6 finish though.
Danny's gone, is not about if he,d stayed, it's about what is the vision for our club?
I,m f**ked if I know what the Bod,s vision is other than FFS somebody please buy us oot!

I'm not making the argument that Danny should have been sacked so that Murray could come in. Danny has gone, rightly or wrongly. All I'm saying is that Murray has done a great job at Dumbarton, and could very well do the same at St Mirren.
I'll assume that your questions are rhetorical. Could any manager guarantee a top six finish?
Failure to land top six is the reason the Bod are giving in so many words "lack of consistent performances and results" and the simple reason they didn,t punt him at the split is they didn,t want to pay up the last three months of his contract, they,d much Rather run it down and give whoever takes over half a squad to work with and no time to properly identify good replacements.
We'll f**king done the Bod of SMFC
-
Murray has done a fantastic job at Dumbarton. They should have had no change of staying in the Championship, yet there are still there and were close to getting a play-off place.
Didn't comment on the rights/wrongs of Lennon's departure, so won't argue with the rest of your post.
So putting in the context of why Danny was sacked. Murray has achieved the same league position in a largely part time league.
Who are his contacts? How will he persuade players to join, or out of contracts to renew?
What guidance can he offer Kenny McLean that would make him stay?
Will he guarantee top six finish?
Hems never achieved or been linked with any of these before in the premiership or a comparable league.

I spoke to SG not long after Danny was appointed. I got the distinct impression that he was a wee bit edgy about bringing in a young manager untested at this level. If the decision lies with the current BoD, then I wouldn't be surprised if they go down the experienced route. God only knows who that might be, though.
Bomber or Shiels

If a manager has a better than average track record at this level, we'll be unlikely to be able to afford him. Would prefer we went with someone who has exceeded expectations at a lower level, and see if they can do something in the Premiership. I could think of worse appointments than Ian Murray from Dumbarton.
Because Murray has achieved whit? Against who?
Do you know why the Bod fudged making the decision from last week till today?
Because if we had made seventh then they would have to justify sacking the manager who brought the most premiership placed money in for 25 years...
It,s only down on his previous best last season because money was shared more equally with the former SFL clubs.
-
If they replace him as has been suggested in a few corners with Barry Ferguson , or a manager with no track record at this level the can whistle for my ticket money.
-
Eh it didn't, we would have been safe with 38 points.
A run to the league cup semi final would have been worth a lot of money to the club.
Hearts have out performed us this season despite having a transfer embargo and a manager in his first full season.
There's no case for Danny to remain and I hope he's gone by 3pm.[/quote
Sorry to disappoint you but his meeting with the Bod has been put Back to 3:15pm

Have to laugh your what sits off at Mrs Budge and her first big decisions....
Sack the manager and coach
Employ the nation,s favourite diddly as DOF which stands for:
( the results won't be my fault, and I reserve the right to stab whoever we lure into the managers job in the back on a regular basis)
FFS A DOF in the championship when you,ve just come out of administration.... The fans that bought into the club are gonna just love paying his inflated wages when their getting pumped by QoS etc.....
How soon till it all falls apart and their in admin again...? I say by the end of the season
-
Even without the 15 point penalty we finished ahead of Hearts...
Yeah Hearts took their punishment (-15 points)...
And we took ours ( signing Djemba Djemba)
-
So we have our pick from:I've already explained. They only picked up once the pressure was off, and I'm sure many Hearts fans would concur. Our manager managed to galvanise things once the pressure really kicked in. I know which I would favour.
You made a subjective statement with very little basis in evidence, Lex.
Locke
Shiels
Ferguson B
Bomber
Butcher
And the guy who performed miracles (apparently) by guiding Dumbarton to fifth bottom of the lower league......
Consequently Danny and TC will be welcomed with open arms at either:
Hibs
Dundee Utd
Hearts
Or Motherwell if McAll takes up an offer.
Doesn't,t this strike you as us shipping one management team out, to replace it with a less successful one???
