  1. Only the other day I lured a pesky cold caller into my tangled web.....

He said "Hi.... Is this Lord Pityme I.m talking to?"

    I grunted a response...

"We'll I just need to establish your identity"

    I replied..

    "Go on"

Then hung up.... I mean if he already knows my name he,s good enough to work out the rest.... No?

  2. Sorry - I should have qualified my previous quote, been 'pompous' as others have said in the past and declared that I'm in charge of the area of victimology where I work, and deal with research into various victims' groups. So no, I don't need to open my eyes, others do.

I tell you what, my visit to the opticians yesterday was a real eye opener

  3. this thread doesn't,t half show up the people who scour forums in the hope that something, anything will offend them!

should we just accept everything that is done in the name of charity, and never question where, what and who is involved?

given the recent revelation that Comic Relief funds were invested in the Arms and Tobacco industry should we not be a. Bit more vigilant than a dumb sevconian waiting to be ridden round Govan for their ST money again?

  4. The Rotherham population (if you include it's surrounds) is close to 250,000 - about twice what Paisley and it's surrounds has, 125,000. You have to remember that Linwood and Erskine are largely made up of former Glasgow overspill so you can't include them in the equation. So, they have a crowd of 8,000 and we have a crowd of 4,000. We have the bigot brothers on our doorstep, they have the two big Sheffield clubs, albeit they are not what they were and Huddersfield, Bradford and Leeds not that far away. Not counting that the two big Manchester clubs are just over a mile away. Statistically we are not that far behind them.

Was you dogging it for geography at school?

Manchester is a mile from Doncaster?

Huddersfield, Bradford and Leeds are not faraway

    Sheffield is on the doorstep?

Aye they,ve got Hull one door doon on the other side and Newcastle and Sunderland across the road.

  5. £70,000 split between 30 clubs? A tangible difference? Seriously?

Supporters Direct for me serves a useful function in facilitating the takeover of clubs by supporters groups. It's about shared knowledge, experiences and access to legal advice all of which is really important IMO. They've obviously had some major successes too, certainly the most obvious ones for me would be at Swansea City, Exeter City and AFC Wimbledon. They've also had a few disasters like the work they did at Stockport County. Where I guess the problem there lies is that whilst SD can facilitate the takeover the fans of the club then have to elect who they want to run the club, and if that person turns out to be useless it can and does end in utter disaster.

In Scotland though I would agree that Supporters Direct appear to be the utterly toothless lap dogs for the Scottish Government and the SFA. The farce over league reconstruction and in particular the last poll that was sent out to all fans - and the length of time it took to publish the results - highlighted for me the fact that they have moved well away from being representative of the supporter to being far more like a suckling pig drinking from the teat of those that run the game in Scotland.

£70k??? where do you go for crap info?

    http://www.supporters-direct.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Signed-Annual-Report-Accounts-2012.pdf

At least you know they are a bunch of ambulance chasing chancers desperate to get their names down as 'Directors' to impress at the gawff club bar.

  6. Supporters Direct only exist to tick boxes for the government so it can say it,s "listening to/onside" with football fans. They have the reverse Midas touch (everything they touch turns to shite) whenever they get involved with a club in trouble. They actually achieve hee-haw but claim everything was down to them as they ambulance chase any club they see as vulnerable.

    here,s an idea?

The ridiculous amount the government pays to fund them should be divvied up between clubs outside the Premiership..... Now that would make a tangible difference to many clubs, but where would the great & the good go to patronise football fans then?

  7. The dark clouds once again circle Gorgie Road as it appears in reality they are no closer to securing a CVA than they were this time last year.

No dark forces at work it would seem, just the slow, plodding place of the whole Liquidation process of Mad Vlad's disfunctional empire..

Bryan Jackson and BDO however have form in promising delivery of timescales and process to fans, which in reality they have no control and little influence over.

Dunfermline, Portsmouth etc, etc all went on much longer with various deviations from the process BDO assured fans everyone was bought into.

I wonder if Ann Budge will pull her offer if Hearts are still in admin, looking at liquidation come the season end??? For a start if they 'Default' into liquidation the Lithuanian creditors can throw their collective hands up and say:

'oh dear how did it come to this, we were working with BDO but now it looks like we will have to sell the assets and make at least double what that auld cow was prepared to pony up.... ah well'

Without an admin deal on the table it remains doubtful that they would start to sell ST's and indeed who would buy them if the money was simply going to pay BDO and trickle through to Lithuania..?

I suspect the sheer breadth and depth of the practice and process involved to unravel Vlad's empire may just make the hearts sink?

A few hundred posts made by as on here 10-20 blokes isn't a representative sample....

edit: i think the creditors in Lithuania may have a change of 'hearts' when they see how much more cash is being talked about and they stand to get buttons once the Administrators here and there have had their slice of the £2.5m

Seems what I suspected back in February is what may befall Hertz. The process of liquidation in another country where the villain of the piece has made many, many enemies in the corridors of power, coupled with creditors who understandably want a piece of the action and see the assets as their bargaining leverage/delayed pay day.

Will the last game of the season be the last time we entertain HMFC before HMRC pump them for six???

  8. On an entirely different matter I bumped into DL & TC today in Lonend Morrisons.

we settled down for a natter in the cafe,, with Danny and TC stating in no uncertain terms that we WOULD avoid the dreaded play-off berth and strive to give the long suffering support something to cheer about over the close season. I didn,t hear a phone, but TC then stood up pacing around taking a call from SGG.

He then spoke to Danny saying "Gaffer needs us back at Ralston Pronto, neck your skinny latte and let,s get the focaccia outta here"

they drained their mugs, snaffled what was left of their empire biscuits and shot the craw.

I,m sure it was an oversight that they left me the bill, but I did overhear by the coffee machine Danny say to TC something like "Why the f**k did you post that online, we,ll huv tae Finnish tenth at least to get squared up noo".

they did make actions through the windae as they got in club badged punto that it was their treat next time.... and that seemed to make them both laugh at lot as they nodded in my direction.

  9. post split fixtures are the ones that matter now.

keep in the mix, and go hell for leather against our direct competitors then. I predict (god you fool Lord P) we'll avoid the play-offs by securing the required result (or subject to A.n. other's results) on our final home game in the split.

Then again I did predict we would be top six by New Year's day..!
