  1. Saturday is the Trafalgar Square party, john. Sunday is a quiet one in the respective pubs around wembley. Sounds like Sunderland fans are allocated the same pubs as Scotland fans were last year.

I was speaking to guy who is going with his son. They are leaving by bus early doors Saturday. Get to London mid afternoon, get to hotel then find a party. The general consensus is that of st mirren fans. The older guys fear that this will be the last time they will reach a final in their lifetime. Three wembley visits since the 80s milk cup and fa cup both losses and one play off, a win.

It's all kicked off with all these health & safety do's and don'ts for the fans ahead of Sunday's final..!

The supporters have been told categorically that anyone found with Pyrotechnics on them will be in big trouble...

The Sunderland fans response was "The year we were last at wembley for a major cup final.... everyone had flares on them..!"

  2. If Danny Lennon was in charge of Ferguslie Cricket Club then Gilmour would of had him sacked, SG is more interested in cricket than in running St Mirren Football Club, Lennon should have been sacked on Monday.

Bollocks, Danny would have got six months paid leave due to a stress related illness (BAWA)

  3. t

they are too busy watching columbo and murder she wrote whilst keeping the heating down and eating custard creams

You forgot filling in countless 'Big Puzzler' and 'Mega Wordsearch' to maintain their mental dexterity, and still staring for longer than is comfortable at 'Coloured' people they see on the street.

  4. I can't help feeling this whole season could have been handled a lot better. Let's look at where we're at just now. Manager doesn't know if he is coming or going and is managing a squad of players who don't know if they are being kept on after June. Now if the board tell Danny in two weeks he is leaving at the end of the season what impact will that have on him and the team. Also the players will be looking at where they are going to be playing next year and I'm certain will not want to get injured. It makes for a really bad situation for us. If Danny was doing well the board would have him signed up and that's it. If he was winning games then regardless of who took over then the board would have ring fenced the manager for doing well. This whole situation is terrible and the uncertainty is killing us. We have eleven games left and a manager who's in no mans land along with players who now will have one eye on their future. The players are not delivering and it's clear this needs sorted. For me the board should have taken action by now ! I see folk saying if we lose on sat then that will be it for Danny? Will it? This club is sleep walking to relegation and has been since July last year with the horrendous transfer window and riduculous cull of experienced players who were not replaced. It has been a torrid year but with eleven games left tell me who do you trust to get the team out of this mess and it is a mess a very sorry mess? Do you trust the board or Danny or the players themselves have they got what it takes. I'm hearing zero from anyone and the fact that gilmour is so quiet speaks volumes. I will finish with this ... If we go down we will run into rangers and of course a revived hearts . Now it's ok to say we will have good gates v them? Will we really? Sky are likely to pick them up for a 12-45 kick off on a Sunday when hospitality is harder to sell. Combine that with the fact we have poor gates at televised games and your losing already. For every rangers game there is a Cowdenbeath or Alloa bringing 150 fans each. The training ground needs financed and without the prize money in the top division will it still operate and to what level. The cut backs will be severe people will lose their jobs and the playing team will be young lads with three older heads. It's grim and Roy macgregor at county said he had to spend some cash to stay in the league as it's vital to avoid the drop. On New Year's Day they were I think 11 points behind us yet now look at them. If we go down then its a long long way back. Let's not go down and remember folks it is not too late to change this we have 11 games. We all kinda know what needs to happen but not with three games left!!!!

Remind me Did Roy McGregor sack his manager and have to start from scratch at the most volatile moment in the club's season?

  5. Getting near time noo. Wembley snack bar concessions are power-jetting last seasons foot-longs and burgers in eager anticipation. The mass exodus from Sunderland begins on Friday, with special trains joining the already fully booked normal service from Saturday.

Parties are planned in Trafalgar Square, leicester Square Yates (nice) and sunday morning at a nightclub near the stadium.

Quite a few buses will leave Sunderland at Midnight Saturday, the buses are dry but the passengers will no doubt be sloshing in it (Bristol City anglo scottish cup anyone..? kickabout at 8:00am on a roundabout in the city centre)

And on Wembley Way the cheese for the chips is being grated as we speak!

Still want the Wembley Selfie Dicko? It has been said i take a good photo!

  6. Now their erstwhile saviour is suggesting the orcs should boycott season ticket renewals....

Their really is a god.... hope he's saving for the Queen (HMRC) as the orcs less inclined to of recent years clap.gif

Statement by Dave King on Rangers FC
Because of my ongoing interest in the future direction of the club I have deliberately avoided immersing myself in the day-to-day "noise level" that is being played out in the media. By doing this I had hoped to serve as a bridge between non-aligned stakeholders and the club, as well as seeking a way forward that could accommodate all interests. I no longer believe that I can achieve this with the board that is presently in place. I consequently wish to update the fans on my current position.

Late last year I travelled to Scotland in an attempt to find a way forward that would accommodate all parties and ensure sound corporate governance and sound financial planning for the club. Unfortunately, my efforts were in vain. During this period I made it clear to the board that I am a potential source of funding by way of a new capital injection. My prime condition is that any funds introduced by me would go into the club for the benefit of the team and the dilapidating infrastructure.

For the avoidance of doubt, I appreciate that the Rangers board has no obligation to engage with me or to agree with my vision for the future of Rangers. My assessment is that the business is not commercially sustainable in the short term and hence requires a level of soft investment. The board is focusing on right-sizing the business ie. cutting costs to match the income. It is correct that anyclub must, over the long term, operate within its means but in the short term Rangers needs a significant once-off financial boost that cannot be met from the current revenue stream. Without this we will not get back to where we should be. If we cut our costs to suit our present income we will remain a small club and Celtic will shoot through 10 in a row - and beyond - while we slug it out for the minor places. That is not the Rangers that I grew up with and not the Rangers that we should be passing down to our children and grandchildren.

Such a soft investment will only come from a fan based group that regard their return as winning trophies in the top flight. I have been such an investor and want to be so again. I would like to lead a fan-based initiative to acquire an influential shareholding in the club.
I hope that the board will belatedly recognise the importance ofcommunicating with fans on the true state of the club's finances.Financial transparency should now be a non-negotiable requirement of the fans prior to investing in season tickets. It is an easy deflection for the board to suggest that it has had insufficient time or that it is restricted by AIM regulations. That is simply not true. Legitimate concerns about the club's financial position have been voiced for a long time. It should have been the board's number one priority to provide the comfort that the fans need - if it is able to do so. Craig Whyte employed exactly the same reasons for avoiding disclosure of the true financial state of the club during his ill-fated period of ownership.

The board has previously dealt with queries around the club's finances by giving categoric assurances that there was sufficientfunding until the end of the season. We now know that these assurances were untrue and that emergency financing has been put in place on terms that are not commercial and that indicate the desperate financial position that the club is in. This lack of transparency on the present and projected funding position isextremely worrying. The Craig Whyte purchase would never have happened if the true source of "his" funds had been known. Similarly, the fans would not have purchased season tickets at that time if they had known that their funds were going out of the club. The fans lost their cash and almost lost their club. So now, at this critical time, I remind fellow supporters of the old adage - fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

The fans have no proper insight into the owners of the club and who represents which shareholders on the board. The board has strenuously resisted any attempt by the fans to find out who key shareholders are. What is known is that the current board members have a very minor stake in the club. Rangers has also developed an extremely un-Rangers like culture of "turning on its own". It is not in Rangers culture to have spin-doctors that feed information to the media in an attempt to damage our own players, management, potential investors, and supporters. Much of what has been fed to the media is clearly untrue or exaggerated.
Ultimately, it is in the hands of the existing shareholders (through the board) to decide to issue new shares to investors. There is a clear reluctance to do this at the present time and the reasons for this can only be speculated upon. Undoubtedly, the club requires a significant injection of new equity from existing or new shareholders but this will take some time to put in place. A proper financial evaluation will have to be undertaken and all the necessary AIM requirements etc. complied with. Clearly, by not having acted sooner the board is making it clear that it has decided to rely on the fans' cash once again.

The big question is- "What can fans do to protect themselves but still assist the team and management"? Fans must remember that the purchase of a season ticket is essentially an individual loan from the fan to the company until such time as all games are played. No banker would lend money to a company without knowing its true financial position. Unless the board departs from its present stance of opacity the fans will be asked to lend money to the company with no security and with no comfort that the loan advance is not going into a financial black-hole. It must be stressed that the board was happy to give security to Laxey Partners for the recent facility as well as a massive return on this short-term loan. It seems wrong that, if the board gets its way, these new loans will be repaid from interest free and unsecured loans provided by long suffering fans.

    If the board does not provide disclosure to the fans then it is time to draw a line in the sand. I propose that the fans buy the season tickets only on one of the two following bases;
    1. The fans pay the season ticket money into a trust and the funds are released to the club on a "pay-as-they-play" basis.
    2. The fans pay the season ticket money into a trust and the funds are released in full to the club but against security of the club property until such time as all games are played. In that way the fans will have some protection from a future event of failure if the board cannot bridge the funding gap that clearly exists.

Additionally, the fans should insist on a board appointee prior to renewing their season tickets, to look after their interests.
I also suggest that the following questions be put to the board on condition that satisfactory answers must be given prior to fans agreeing to make cash from season ticket sales available to the club.
    1. Will the board provide legally binding assurances that the club is a going concern and has sufficient funds and/or facilities in place for the 2014/2015 season.
    2. Will the board undertake that none of the proceeds from season ticket sales will be used to settle any financial obligation that arose prior to receipt of the season ticket monies by the club.
    3. Will the board confirm that the club assets continue to be unencumbered.
    4. Will the board explain its previous statements that the club had sufficient cash resources to last until the end of the season.

I previously invested 20 million pounds in the club and lost it all.Like all Rangers fans I continue to loyally support the team and the manager. I am willing to provide funding again but I do not believe that Rangers should be under the control of one owner/benefactor. We have already seen the damage that has been caused at Rangers (and many other clubs) when the club becomes a hostage to thefluctuating whims and wealth of a single owner. I see my role as being the lead investor of a like-minded consortium that will invest in the club, along with the supporters, without the "short-sightidness" of an immediate return on investment. An immediate return on investment will guarantee a non-immediate return of the team to the top flight.

The fact that it believes it can proceed as it is doing without financial transparency makes two major statements about the board's thinking. First, they have correctly understood the fierce and unbending loyalty that Rangers fans display towards the club and the team at a time of common difficulty. Secondly, they have seriously misunderstood this loyalty as being something they can take for granted and offer nothing in return. We shouldn't allow that to continue. At this critical juncture, the fans control the funding that the board is relying on. How we proceed will determine our club's future.

  7. doesnt mean we cant learn from it. Someone who displayed this level of disrespect to our club (and he wasnt a kid, but a grown man of 23) would not be a good appointment

    This.

If he was appointed and half as bad a run that Danny's had, then the football would be a sideshow compared to all the distractions of his 'Loyalty' (pun f**kin intended) being questioned with every team selection and formation.

Think Steve kean rapport with the Blackburn rovers fans.... that's what you'd be looking at a very poor decision to appoint.

  8. predictions:

Mrs Lunny will get that new rinky-dink washing machine when her Hubbie's OT pay comes in.

Djemba-djemba to revel in his role of enforcer as his alter ego Kung Fu Panda

Boyd getting it from the Kung Fu Panda

Newton to get a stint between the sticks

Various management/coaching staff entering the field of play

Wee Magic complaining, and calling for the compliance officer to do something about the 'Ghost' as naebody saw him

Four goals for the saints.... (yes I said four goals)

  9. The Scottish game IS corrupt.

Their fans are not going away, but their money has already done so.

TRFC has MORE THAN blown the IPO dosh.

RIFC has been financing them - they have no banking facilities.

RIFC's shareholders comprise, among others, hedge funds and property strippers.... Going by their track records. Not Rangers-minded men splashing the cash for their love of the blue jerseys.

They're not in it for the long run - not even two years - they want profit and there are a few bits of property available for flogging off.

And have you noticed the Wonga-style loan just announced? Eye-watering interest rates. And this just to pay the wages this week in order to limp on to an early season ticket sale to the gullible...

How much longer can the shibboleth, the cadaver be kept upright?

    And the SFA do nothing...

The Scottish game IS corrupt. sad.png

But you can't outrun profit and LOSS. smile.png

as long as it takes for them to flog that car park and building they got for a song two years ago and have done nothing with.... now why would someone do that I wonder???

  10. Segregation was a bizarre concept.

I've been trying to find out about this Club Wembley thing. I appreciate it won't get me tickets to the Carling Cup Final, but what is the deal with it. I've requested an information pack but the online info appears pretty vague. It looks like you pay a minimum of £149 per person for the right to buy priority tickets for England matches as well as the FA Cup Semi's and Final, League Cup Final and for a number of concerts at the stadium as well. Am I close to the mark?

    Dunno?

    Dunno Mark either.

  11. 3 words to sum it up. Out the woodwork. 16k for a 5th round fa cup tie v premier league opponents the other week. Where were the super fans that day?

Saving up for Cheesy Chips on Wembley Way of course.... if it makes you angry that the mackems are actually at a cup final that doesn't have some form of Paint or commercial vehicle in its title can i suggest this as a form of relief..?

  12. rangers-fans-image-1-406704986-1124297.jpg

I see what your doing there... by not giving it a name every time it plummets like a Zepplin on fire you just re-name the f**ker and carry on biggotting regardless..!

Your always banging on you want God to save your Queen..?

Can you not SAVE up a bit and pay the old girl what you owe her every once in a while without clusterf**king into oblivion???

mind you it is funny to watch.... The People

  13. Yep, well at the moment anyway. To be honest I'm quite impressed you've got one. None of my contacts have had any spare and I include the ticket office manager in that list. I even tried the City end but they're like gold dust.

Not sure I'd take a risk buying from agencies given the amount of forgeries doing the rounds.

Five of us going, and we turned up eight tickets between us seven in club wembley.... (the other three already earmarked before you ask)

You see there are contacts and contacts... wanna a selfie from the big day?

  14. Did he explain which two Saints outfield players were closer to the goal line than Kevin Gallacher? You find that most people who think that should have been a goal don't appreciate that even if Derek Hamilton had been playing Gallacher onside , it would also have required Tommy Wilson to have been more advanced than Gallacher for it to have been a legit goal, due to Campbell Money being so far off his line when the shot was struck. Gallacher was further up the park than anyone else, so it didn't matter a f*ck how many Saints players were there anyway.

I shat it, right enough. :whistle

I think I nearly choked on that!

  15. Be Careful What You Wish For!

As Hertz fans continue to debate whether having one rich benafactor put up the cash to buy the club, and then expect the fans to cough up the readies to buy it back and fund it until such time as they can afford to buy it... is a good deal compared to liquidating, getting it for hee-haw and starting again in League 2 debt free...

look at the situation Well fans find themselves in, their disagreement, and realising they may have been sold the 'PuP' version of fan ownership too...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26251662

Well are living way beyond their means if they can't make the seasons they just had pay, Hertz are geared up for more of the same... don't you think we dodged a bullet by not taking on £2million of debt, and having to fund a 300-500k shortfall each season?

No doubt the Sevconians will throw their cash at the next spiv through the doors without taking the trouble to drill down for the detailed plan, seeking the full picture, knowing exactly the liabilties that are coming, and not being taken in by the holy hype!

How many fans were saints offered on the BoD..? Not enough to out vote eejits gambling in a business they know hee-haw about.

  16. With all the stats against, all we ever get back is we won a cup and we were good in the league once 3 years ago. Doh.

Who are these 'better' managers that we could attract???

How about some names and achievements so far that underpin why they are 'Better'...

    here's your starter for ten:

Ian Murray - (Achievements) Sixth in the championship (at this point... remember teams can go up as well as down) Better??? ffs

All we ever get is 'Danny Out'... never any realistic replacement suggestions

Come on then who are the 'Better' managers we could attract on our budget?

  17. Who are these 'better' managers that we could attract???

  18. Is there anything more shameful than a topic with this title posted on what is puported to be a St Mirren fans forum..?

I get people are dissapointed... hell I've learned to live with that for forty odd years without resulting to this type of mentality

    article-2052464-0E7FFFCA00000578-398_634torches_pitchforks.jpg

They got what they wished for at Blackburn... in fact they've had it twice again since!

People suggesting Ian Murray at Dumbarton would be a better replacement based on what..? sixth place in the championship, never managed at premiership level, narrowly avoided relegation last season (the other half of his one season in management)....

Where did Danny come from..? ermm let me think oh yeah he took Cowdenbeith to two successive promotions before joining us, he actually won leagues! how the hell is Ian Murray looking better for us?

it is a disgrace we have a topic with this title on here, and it lessens any arguement that people who believe we would be better served without Danny might have...

lets see the boo-boys spell out the job skills, core competencies, behaviours and bench marks for what a succesfull St Mirren manager would look like given the budget we have availbale to pay them, their backroom team and the squad at their disposal.

Anyone thought about the common sense acquisitions of Wylde, DD and Magennis to take the heat off a couple of very young full backs struggling to maintain their consistency in the first season in their lives where most everyone they play against has been playing at a higher level than them for some time?
