They refused to take supplementary questions on their answers over finance, giving the club another £50k line of credit that has no payback date (although The club chairman did wade in and insist it has got a payback date, that being when the membership takeover in ten years time. Basically we will inherit a debt to ourselves).

they wouldnt take questions on why they had failed to properly inform and consult with the members, instead insisting they had 'Special Executive Powers' which meant they can do what they want and we have to suck it up!

and they shut down the meeting before others could ask their questions.

I'm fairly sure the 50k point was discussed at length and indeed clarified as a requirement of the deal to purchase.
You might recall an open question to the room asking for a show of hands who was aware of this - my recollection being all present were aware.
    None showing hands being unaware.

It was also pointed out as being a responsible approach to being a shareholder, when and if/ as required extra funds should be made available to the club to tide over in times when cashflow requires - in emergency situations.
    This is entirely normal.

Only point is one on clarity and wider awareness of this and perhaps trusting our committee under delegated authority and what the extent of this might be.

I would be happy for day to day interaction with the club and running of SMiSA to be carried our under delegated authority.
Any issue such as undersoil heating loan payment should in future be put to a vote (agreed yesterday this was seen as a one off).

The committee have done a marvellous job and we should trust them to continue to act in our best interests.
Being more open and communicating better will improve although I'm confident there is nothing to hide.

Given that they refuse to make meeting minutes available, i wont hold my breath on them streaming an AGM where they show themselves up by avoiding questions.

    What questions were avoided?

It was all needed to pay the sellers as it would take a few months to build up subscriptions at £12 or £25 a head.

all? how much was that then?

No mate, the monies from the premium members who paid up front was used mainly to cover the large initial payment to the selling consortium. If we hadnt got as many as we did that would have been an issue.

This was my understanding... and of course to pay an initial deposit to the outgoing consortium.

" The £2,500 contributions are crucial to ensuring the viability of the deal. If we sell all 20 it means we would start the process with £50,000 in the bank, which would protect against any problems, either with the trust or with the club's cashflow."

  5. I thought the premium membership funds were to act as a rainy day fund?
Loaned to the club if required to cover short term cash flow situations/ emergencies with proviso it was paid back at an agreed time.

    Was this not the case?

  6. This is a 2 dimensional process and can't show or allow us to take full part in the debate at board or committee level. Given.
Suppose we have to trust those in position to act in our best interests.

I tend to look at these things from a business perspective and often not as a fan, although I am.

Imagine the scene at SMFC board meetings when all the fingers point towards SMISA rep and say - you get us the money, just you!
I'm not party to the inner workings of the board of SMISA committee and other funds may be forthcoming to match SMISA pledges in equal measure.
Would be good to know this.
Equal measure would be the principle to apply when investing in the business, or it becomes a loan, or is offset against shares.
Short term loans with agreed terms I have no problem with.

    BTW,
I'd get a local refrigeration engineer to take a look at the USH system - see if there's a simple solution.
USH process cycle is refrigeration in reverse.
    Just an observation and suggestion.

If the board are going to ask SMISA to pay for USH, cashflow issues, January transfer window cash (and no doubt a new astroturf pitch and building repairs at Ralston), SMISA should say they'll match new money being invested by the directors rather than stump up instead of the directors stumping up.

    ^^ This.

Pro-rata investment in accordance with share %. It's just business.
We are saving to buy out another shareholder.
This should be the purpose of SmisA, not diluting funds.

    Just a thought ;-)

  8. Purpose - to play competitive professional football in the Scottish football league and cup competitions at the highest level attainable and to fulfil our community and business objectives.

Mission - St Mirren football club aim to be the highest ranked non city football club in Scotland.
(should aim as high as possible - Realistically - stating as a first step to be highest ranked non city club in Scotland before adjusting this to highest ranked outside of Glasgow, then highest ranked, if you see where I'm going)

Then there's those goals and objectives - no harm in setting these out to include cup wins, top 6 in top league, stability of employment, training, qualified coaches, community engagement with local boys clubs, international caps at U 21 and full level etc... lots and lots and lots of stuff to measure and improve - consistent home crowds of 4000, the 4500, then 5000...

Then setting out specific actions to make all of this happen - I'm sure someone is already on top of all of this though ;-)

Needs a bit of work ;-)

  9. I think you may be right and I think I will be one of them, however it is a fairly important aspect re: prospective plans...

I'm not being doom and gloom, I simply would like to know a wee bit more about the plans that the new board would have should the bid be successful...

Continued good governance of the business,

    Positive outlook,

    New Energy,

    A chairman we know,

    Fan involvement,

    Structure towards fan ownership,

Already better than what we have now.

    I'm in.

  10. So am I better splitting my £25 per month and setting up a membership for my youngest son? 2 x £12 instead of 1 x £25?

    I'm sure its a pro-rata value at 1000 x £12 per month. (500 x £25 type of thing)

Your own £25 will contribute as equivalent to 2 towards the total required.

This is not an official view though - maybe someone from SMiSA will clarify and confirm?

The more that sign up the better - well done and thanks for doing so :-)

  11. Imagine trying to get consensus on this or any decision!

Decisions should always be based on impact on business performance and service to customers based on values and principles that are embedded in the organisation.

These values are driven by the shareholders, owners and directors.

I believe St Mirren should always be a Family and Community focused club with development of our club, employees and customer base founded on these values and principles.

With this in mind the decision is easy.

Keep the family stand as just that, for families, foster this locally and you build a community club.

  12. Apologies in advance I this has been discussed elsewhere (I couldn't be arsed trawling through all the 'we are all doomed.... doooooooomed!' threads).

Last night, Jordan Stewart was stretchered off after what was reportedly a horror foul by Mullen of Livingston. The latter received a straight red card, but because we had used all our subs, we were also reduced to 10 men.

Now, surely this cannot be reasonable. For me, if a straight red results in the wronged against team being reduced to ten men as a result of consequent injury, they should be permitted to make a further substitution.

Thoughts (and I am not thinking specifically about whether this would have influenced the match last night)?

You are of course 100% correct Drew. We said the same thing at the game just after the incident.

    Good man ;-)

  13. well accept it cos it's happening. Celtic paying a load of money to use our stadium. We would be stupid to turn down the cash that would pay two players wages for a season.

In business, decisions are made on a commercial basis founded in values & principles of the business.

St Mirren Football Club have lost some of its values & principles with this deal.

    That's just stupid.

  14. Supporter Club Update

Just providing an update re New Supporters Club and giving feedback on points raised by our fellow supporters.

Firstly every Fans Council member who wishes to join the new SMFC 1877 Supporters Club will pay the same rate and on the same terms as every other supporter who joins. Our minutes reflect we do not want any preferential treatment nor do we seek it.

The biggest talking point on this forum would appear to be about "signing in" a mate.

We have obviously discussed this issue so it's not news to us. There are a number of difficulties with this such as the following:

How do we ensure there is no overcrowding ?

How do we make sure that regular paying members are not disadvantaged by the odd supporter who turns up from time to time.

Do we rely on a system where members advise us they will not be using the facility and free up a place ? Who manages this ?

When you sign a pal in does he get in free when members are paying their monthly contribution ? Of course not !

We are open to suggestions to resolve this in a fair manner which DOES NOT disadvantage our paying supporter club members

Let us put it another way ....

Would you like to go to a sports cafe bar where St.Mirren supporters are welcome ?

Would you like to be encouraged to wear your club scarfs and St.Mirren tops in the bar ?

Would you like to be in an environment which encourages the singing of Saints songs ( the clean ones) ?

Would you like to meet Saints players after a game for a chat ?

Would you prefer to put your hard earned money in to the football club you support or a local bar owner ?

If the answer is YES there are only 75 places available at this time on Friday evening at 6pm

    The choice is yours.

This is your supporters club !

    Bizarre statement.
