  1. Goodwin's biggest problem is his reputation, which he has to hold some responsibility for. He seems a nice guy off the pitch and is such a valuable player for us this season, giving us dig and a bit of composure in possession that has been lacking in some games this season.

Unfortunately cheating opponents try every trick in the book to get him sent off and he is at the mercy of refs that are suckered into it(been the same for years).

To be honest, I had had enough of him when he was frustratingly getting stupid reds and costing us games, but he seems to have sorted that since his 'official warning'. I'm delighted he's proving me wrong.

I hope he continues screwing the nut and doing a job for us. If playing regularly I would have him as captain again, with Thommo vice.

  2. Sure its probably been mentioned on here before, but Brian 'bluenose' McGinley was an utter disgrace in the early 80s. Over a semi and replay, cost us a cup final place, 83 at Parkheed I think?. I was only a wee boy, but can clearly remember feeling absolutely done by bias refereeing. My old man and his mates were livid. Everyone back then almost accepted that the old firm would get dodgy decisions, especially Rangers.

He gave them a goal(Clarke header?) that was about 2 yards from the line, turned down a literally stonewall penalty for us and I think Rangers got a goal that was about 5 yards offside.

Similar feeling to Hammarby, but not self-inflicted.

  3. Best English midfielder since Gascoigne, but even more effective than him on the pitch IMO. Again it's all opinions, but the list of top players and managers that have classed him as world class is massive.

He was an all rounder, had a long career and always on the ball, bossing games. He had great engine, great vision and reader of the game, great going forward and breaking up play in front of his defence, amazing passer, hardly ever lost the ball, great feet and touch, goals from headers, long range pile drivers, late runs into the box for goals and a lot of dig.

He was a nasty wee f*cker on the pitch and did get some reds from dirty tackles, but what a player to have in your team. A Makelele, Gerrard and Xavi rolled into one.

Still remember his two bloody goals at Hampden that ended up sinking us in the playoffs. He was the difference between two ordinary teams in that playoff unfortunately.

Surely a 5"6 fiery gingerheed should be Scottish anyway.

  4. Kendo I thoroughly agree with your assessment. For me everything was mismanaged last night.Yes you can sit in the stand with some form of communication to the dugout. But really there was no motivation whatsoever to the players.Murray's sidekick looked totally lost and when Murray made the odd courtesy appearance he looked bewildered.BOD must take note of everything I am still struggling to comprehend how we were beaten by inferior players yes I thought Raith were a poor lot. Finally is there a problem with fitness given the loss of late goals to Raith Dumbarton and Falkirk and of course Livi in the Cup.Something is badly wrong at our wonderful Football Club and needs sorting NOW.

Think you're right to question the fitness. In the last 10 mins we faded badly, again. Mistakes and lack of concentration come with tiredness. The likes of Mallen, who I think is a great wee player, kept giving the ball away in midfield, swaying the game in Raith's favour. We looked knackered and this with a rock bottom confidence is a bad place to be. No excuse with our facilities and young 'fit' squad. A less than ordinary Raith were there for the taking, but they 'took' us. Depressing stuff.
  5. Mark McWalter scoring a thunderbolt half volley against Rangers. It was at the away end and instead of turning and running to the Nortbank he ran towards the thousands of stunned bigots blowing kisses to them. Think we ended up getting beat 2-1?, but still one of my favourite Saints goals.

All the ones mentioned so far are magic too.

  6. Anybody know what's happening with the kids strips? My father in law went to get an age 8 to send over for the boy and still couldn't get one as he was told they'd been recalled, has the complete shambles of this problem not been sorted yet?

That's the boy getting a Liverpool top instead this season as JD still can't supply the kit

Was in JD in Paisley Centre on Saturday before the game, hoping to get a home top for my son. He's still stuck with only his socks and shorts that came with the returned pea-heed faulty top.

Guy in JD was very helpful, but says he doesn't have a clue when they will arrive. Assured me they will at some point??. A pishy state of affairs.

The new kit is a beauty compared to last season's monstrosity, adding to the frustration.

  7. That was hard work. How sh*te are we in midfield? I hate to say it and I know he's gone, but we used to moan about McGinn's lack of creativity. We need someone like him to show some steel and savvy in the middle to win the ball. Every second ball is going to the opposition. Goodwin has the fight, but he's sadly too slow now. It was shocking in there today. If we managed to get the ball, it went square or back, after pissing about with it.

Kelly and Baird kept knocking the ball out when they had time on the ball, putting pressure on us from long throws. They have no confidence or composure, although Baird should be at centre half anyway.

Every time Livi got a throw in our half it was quickly up the line, again putting us under pressure. Our throw ins were waiting for 30 secs for Agnew to show short then the move comes to nothing. We're not Barca, get the ball forward quickly, out wide or down the channels: be direct! And when we get in or near their box, shoot instead of over playing it.

McMullan was the player that stood out again, showing fight and confidence. Great goal too. Stewart looks an ok prospect.

I really fancied a win for us today. Livi are crap, but know how to cheat and ruin a game. We should've been in their faces and have learned from Tuesday. I fear for us against the top teams in this league.

On a plus note, on our pre-match visit to the museum, Buddie the lion was looking well. Haven't seen him in 25 years, but he hasn't aged a bit.

  8. Third 160 mile round trip in two weeks, second with the wee man. We must be mad, but he's definitely caught the bug that my old man inflicted on me. Today will be the turning point, even if I did say that about the Dumbarton game. Think the team will be right up for this one, after Tuesday night and if they're not there is something wrong. Be interesting to see what team Murray puts out. Hope Webster and Shankland are straight in. COYS!

  9. A nice wee surprise after a not so nice day at work. His influence and experience could be massive this season.

A much needed boost after the Livi horror show the other night. Hopefully he'll help a few of the youngsters to grow up quickly, starting with getting torn into these cheating pricks tomorrow.

    Welcome aboard Andy!!!

  10. Just back home and really gutted about game. Was full of optimism and this was a big big game for us. We were poor, but Dumbarton were lucky to get all the points today. Playing Morgan and McMullan in the same midfield was a disaster. They don't track back and crap out of tackles. It meant our shape was really poor. Morgan showed great flashes in the 2nd half, mainly speedy runs then penetrating crosses, but he must've given up possession more than 10 times and shouldn't have started. McMullen has the ability to change games for us but is lazy in defence. Would still play him though.

Thought Carsewell did ok and Agnew's goal was a peach, but as a unit they didn't work. The time Dumbarton had in midfield was shocking.

Gallagher was full of effort and running, but should've scored. He needs time to develop.

Like the look of Baird and think he could develop into a great player.

Biggest disaster today was Naismith, not the 2 chances he squandered in the 1st half, but his injury. Looked like a real bad one and he could potentially be out for a long time. He must be one of the first names on the team sheet. Really hope he's ok, but looks grim.

Off the pitch, noticed Webster in the stand with his family. Think he could help develop Baird and other youngsters if he signed. Also noticed Langfield was a like a jack in the box in the dugout, really involved in the game. Think their influence would be great on the pitch. We need more leadership, experience and fight.

    Gow is a f***wit!!

Lots of young players needing time to develop, but so does Murray. It's hard to have the patience watching that and he got his tactics badly wrong today. Hope he learns quickly for all our sakes.
